How come Kaspersky's taking up 30GBs (!) on my C drive?

What’s the explanation? I have no Kaspersky-backups saved or anything, I’m using the default settings.

Hello @Studynx, Welcome.

Please open 'Support' (man with headset, bottom left), click on 'Support tools' and check if creating traces is enabled. This option is disabled by default.

In the same window you can select 'Delete all service data and reports' at the bottom.

Done, now what do I do?

Manually delete all those generated traces, check in that link how to locate them in Your system, but usually will be in:

C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\AVP21.x\Traces

Essentially it says I can’t delete them because those files are currently in use.

Please use 'Delete all service data and reports' as mentioned in my first post.

But first you have to disable the traces.

Disable temporally Kaspersky Self-defence → delete files → re-enable

Didn’t work, still have that 30GB of storage space. Lookie here

What is the QB folder about? And what are these files?

Hi @Studynx,

in 'QB' the quarantine backup files are stored.

Please open 'More tools->Security->Quarantine'.
Are there files listed there?

Yes but their status is ‘deleted’.

You can delete the files manually via window-explorer.

Most likely, you will have to temporarily disable the self-defense: 'Settings->General->Self-defense'.

Can’t I just delete them from within Wiztree?

Edit: It says I need admin privileges tho I am admin?

Hello @Studynx

  • As well as the advice above, from Moderators @Schulte & @harlan4096, if the system is run in Safe Mode, you’ll be able to manually delete the files.

Thank you🙏
