Full Scan Stops on 1% - Kaspersky Total Security

Windows 10 Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1348)

Kaspersky Total Security Application Version 21.3.10.391

For several weeks Full Scan on my HP Laptop gets stuck on 1% and trying to take any action results in a complete ‘lock up’ of the p.c.  I then have to do a ‘hard reset’ (press power button for several seconds) to turn it off.

‘Do not unpack large compound files’ is set to max. file size of 100MB but it makes no difference.

I can successfully run ‘Full Scan’ in ‘Safe Mode’!!!

‘Windows Defender’ Full Scan runs without any issues and I have ‘Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office’ installed, and that also can run a ‘Full Scan’ also without any issues.

I have therefore decided to disable my automatic full scan schedule in Kaspersky and use these other scan methods instead until a solution can be found.

All other Kaspersky scans run without any issues, e.g. Quick / Vulnerability etc,

I have had Kaspersky Total Security for years and now it doesn’t work? Quick scan is done in about 10-15 minutes, vunerablity scan gets done too but not full scan. Yes, my laptop is old but it still meets all the requirements so in theory, it should run, if not a little longer than a newer system. 

NOW WHAT?

Last few FULL scans have EVENTUALLY got past the 1% marker, but is horrendously slow in completing the whole scan.  Last time took some 7 hours to complete!!

Like you, Quick and Vulnerability scans get done in reasonable time, as does Background scan for me also.  My laptop is a few years old, but shouldn’t take that long when full scanning.  I also have had Kaspersky for quite a number of years.  In fact, I have bought a new license but not applied it yet.

I have yet to submit a ticket, and wonder if in fact it’s worth doing!  Although messy, I am wondering about finding/using another application for just running FULL scans as a way around the the problem.  I have ‘Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office’ which offers scan protection which I don’t currently have enabled, so I might just try using its FULL scan as a substitute for Kaspersky’s.
