Folding@Home can download, but not upload Work Units while VPN is active

When I connect to the Kaserpsky VPN, whether it be in Russia, Canada, or my home country of the United States, when run Folding@Home from Stanford, it is able to download work units just fine. However, when trying to upload those units, it always fails to connect. Is this related to the fact Kaspersky VPN acts as a virtual Network Adapter? Is there a way to fix this?

Hello @Shinaolord

Welcome!

  1. Have you added any allow exclusions?
  2. Which version & patch is KSC-VPN → rightclick the Kaspersky icon, select About?
  3. Is there any other Kaspersky software installed → if “yes”, name, version & patch please?

Please let us know?

Thank you🙏

1 :In terms of allowing exclusions, I couldn’t find an option to do that in the VPN? Where is it, if it exists?

2: 21.1.15.500 ( c )

3: Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Password Manager are installed, but do not interfere with upload/download of Work Units (WUs) when VPN is off.

@Flood and Flood's wife  I actually don’t have Internet Security Installed. I will try that, then update VPN and see if that fixes the problem. I will let you know ASAP!

Hello @Shinaolord

You’re most welcome!

  1. Who said anything about Kaspersky Internet Security
  2. Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection is up to version 21.2.16.590(a)

Thank you🙏

Since Kaspersky Internet Security is incompatible with Kaspersky AV, I went to the network settings in AV and added FAHClient to exclusions, along with child processes. Later on tonight I will turn the VPN back on (it is updated now), and see if it still fails to send them. Next reply will be an update, either way, thanks!

The link about Secure Connections was talking about Kaspersky Internet/Total Security

How to configure a secure connection for a selected website

You can configure a secure connection for a selected website if Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Total Security is installed and activated on your computer.

so I assumed that was what you were talking about. the VPN itself didn’t have those settings, but Kaspersky Av seemed to have the settings you were talking about.

Hello @Shinaolord

Thanks for the update👌 .

No, not discussing KIS/KTS & or Kaspersky Security Cloud (KSC).

Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection is automatically installed when KIS/KTS & or Kaspersky Security Cloud (KSC) are installed, much to the displeasure of many Kaspersky subscribers.

Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection can be installed as standalone software.

The exclusion settings we’re referring to, are in Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection application.

Thank you🙏

Between tests, I added F@H both to my exclusions list in Kaspersky AntiVirus and updated the VPN. I’m not sure which was the one that fixed it, but it ‘s fixed, so that’s good!

Thanks again @Flood and Flood's wife
