Disable automatic update!

I am really fed up with kaspersky right now.

On all my devices they update to the new version of total security, for which my license apparantly is not valid?

When going to the site it clearly shows I have almost 200 days left, and when trying to use a download from there it will not work.

I have to manually remove everything and clean the entire system before re-installing the previous version which does work.

This is VERY frustrating, as anti-virus software should be setup and forget. If this behaviour does not get changed I will not renew my license and just go back to windows defender because this kind of moneygrab behaviour is exactly why I don't use most antivirus software, and now that kaspersky has joined the dark side I can not support it anymore.

Ps. I am not talking about database updates, I am talking about a full update from total security 2019 to 2020

Hi,

Welcome.

Version 2019 and 2020 are older.

1. Uninstall current kaspersky and do restart.

2. Download and install kaspersky from here https://www.kaspersky.com/downloads/thank-you/total-security-free-trial#download

3.Update databases manually and do restart again …..

I do not want a free trail for a product I still have 200 days of usage for.

I paid for a full year, but after 100 days my license expires?

If the license is not valid on a new version, don't update to that new version then. Don't automatically update without asking, then force me to pay for a full new license. That's scamming.

you can disable automatic update by doing this:

1. Disable Self-Defense
2. Exit Kaspersky product
3. Add the following parameters in system registry:
For x64 systems:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\KasperskyLab\AVP20.0\environment (20.0, or 21.1, or, 21.2 - depending on the version you have installed)
add a STRING parameter IsVersionUpdateEnabled with value 0.
For x86 systems:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KasperskyLab\AVP20.0\environment
add a STRING parameter IsVersionUpdateEnabled with value 0.
4. Start Kaspersky product
5. Enable Self-defense

Thank you, this surely is not something the average Joe would be able to do, let alone figure out.

I have performed these steps, let's hope it helps :)
