Desktop shortcut stops working with every update

Hi,

I have

Kaspersky Free

Windows 10 version 22H2

 Application Version    21.15.8.493

Every time you roll out a new update a new folder is created. This this means my desktop shortcut no longer points to the folder and therefore doesn't work. This doesn't happen with other application updates so there must be a way to avoid this.

For example my old version was

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky 21.14\avpui.exe"

The new version is

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky 21.15\avpui.exe"

If there is another way to create a desktop Icon that will not be effected by upates please show me.

Thank you

Welcome to Kaspersky Community.

The only solution for this would be that every new K. version will be installed in the same system folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky\ without the new numeration, but I don't think that will happen...

Hi @harlan4096

  1. Has the "Desktop shortcut stops working with every update" issue been identifed in the Beta testing phase?

Thank you🙏

In theory, in every update the old shortcut should be removed, and a new one will be created pointing to the new folder.

That's fine @harlan4096 - IF it works properly
