Hi, my issue is that tdsskiller will not start. My computer is not infected. I have scanned it with various tools, including Kasperky free antivirus. I have moved tdsskiller to desktop, tried to run as administrtator, tried renaming it to random.com and I have the latest version. My PC antivirus is Kasperky free (could this be the reason?). Please advice.

Hello Ket, Welcome!
  1. Please advise all Kaspersky software names, version numbers & release numbers installed on your computer?
  2. Operating system, version, build?
  3. When you try to run Tdsskiller is it showing any active processes in TaskManager?
  4. Have you checked Kaspersky "Reports", any errors for Tdsskiller?"
  5. Why are you running Tdsskiller if your computer is NOT infected?
Please let us know? Thanks! https://support.kaspersky.com/5350#block0

  1. Kaspersky Free 19.0.0.1088(f)
  2. Windows 10 Home 1903 (buid 18362.175)
  3. Only Kaspersky antivirus
  4. No errors, just a "rootkit scan canceled" earlier today.
  5. I just want to make sure it will run when I may need it.
Thank you.

Hello Ket, Thanks for posting back! Ok, if there's no infection, we strongly recommend you have the following before ANY experimentation:
  1. Full system backup
  2. Current system image
  3. Working system repair disc
  1. Is the Windows "Event Viewer" showing any entries for Tdsskiller?
  2. What happens when you run Tdsskiller in safe mode?
  3. When you activate Tdsskiller, does the following screen popup:
  1. Can you advise where you sourced Tdskiller from please?
Please let us know? Thanks!

Hello Ket, KAVF is not causing Tdskiller to not run. Tdskiller runs in safe mode. What problem? Thanks!

Well, the software is meant to run also in normal mode. If it doesn't and given the error message in event viewer, there must be a conflict with something. That's a malfunction that I feel it should be looked into.

The "conflict: isn't caused by Kaspersky software. Tdskiller runs. There is no malfunction (from Kaspersky's side) Whatever is happening in/on your computer, on the other hand, may be an issue. Whatever "that" is, is out of scope" for Kaspersky. Thanks!

Coming back to my issue. I wasn't feeling comfortable with tdsskiller running only in safe mode. See, if at any moment I think my PC is infected, I have few tools that I run in order to clean it, and one of them is tdsskiller. In a scenario where a computer is infected, I wouldn't like to restart it in order to get into safe mode to run the tool. So, it was bugging me all these days and I couldn't find a solution on the internet. So, I went on and uninstalled Kaspersky free antivirus and immediately I was able to run tdsskiler in normal mode. After all and in my case, it seems that the conflict was actually caused by Kaspersky software. I thought to let you know, so that it my be fixed in future updates. Thank you.

Hello Ket, We've tested TDSKILLER, with Kaspersky software active and Windows in normal mode, TDSKILLER runs normally. If you believe there's a verifable issue and you believe you've found a solution, please escalate to Kaspersky Lab Technical Support, by logging into your MyKaspersky https://my.kaspersky.com/ account and creating an incident record, selecting the category you think is appropriate for what you've described. Kaspersky will analyse, if it's development work, the lab may contact you for more info or may just advise how they propose to manage. As you are using Kaspersky Free, Kaspersky does not offer any technical support. , There's nothing we in Kaspersky Community can do, beyond what we've done so far. Thanks!
