I have 2 detected object labeled as adware but I cant disinfect them either. They both have the "aetihlp.dll " in common. What do I do to resolve this? I will attach 2 photos of the file locations.

Welcome to Kaspersky Community.

Please, provide K. product version installed.

Also, check if You have installed and running an app called: HostAppService.exe (very suspicious)... check with Windows msconfig.exe tool the services and apps running during Windows Start:

I have Kaspersky Anti-Virus version and I will provide screen shots. I don't own the laptop that these adwares are in, I've never encountered or noticed them up until recently. I am also unable to contact the original owner for a while as well.

In that capture, click on: Hide all Microsoft services, and capture again...

Tengo el mismo problema. ¿Es "aetihlp.dll" un archivo peligroso?

its fixed now. I ran a full scan by setting it to "Disinfect, if cannot be disinfected, delete", and then just Kaspersky deleted the files. I no longer have the warning on my Kaspersky startup.

Can You click on Ignore in both detection warnings, and run again a scan?

Also, You should try to migrate Your KAV 21.3, to the new product line Kaspersky Standard currently in version 21.17 (soon 21.18).

Hello everynyan,

Since end of May, I noticed that some people received from Kaspersky a warning about an adware called usmt.ppkg, namely aetihlp.dll, either on reddit, on this forum or even on a filipino forum named phcorner. In my case, I'm getting this problem on Windows 11 Home (Acer laptop) with Kaspersky Free (some users received the same warning with Kaspersky Anti-virus for JOF and Kaspersky Premium for ZombiePredator).

It's not the first time that this file is considered as a false positive by Kaspersky and is not even detected as malicious eitheir by Malwabytes, adwcleaner or Microsoft Defender.

I noticed that some users on this forum, like JOF or Patin, were working on deleting it and I would strongly advise against it. Indead, this is an important Windows file which allows you to restore your system. Deleting it could even break your computer and damage your recovery partition.

I already contacted Kaspersky's support, though since I'm using Kaspersky Free, I'm not sure if it will lead to anything.

In any case, I hope that posting about it on this forum will allow to find a solution.

I'm also adding screenshots about the detection and the effect on my recovery partition.

Update :

As expected the support refuses to resolve the problem since I am using Kaspersky Free, not being able to use some of its payable tools.

Since Kaspersky is currently acting like a virus, damaging their computer's customers (no matter the type of Kaspersky people are using), this kind of act is irresponsible.

No wonder Kaspersky is getting so many bad reviews nowadays and got banned in the US. An anti-virus focusing on money and generating problems do not last in the long run.

Update 2

Well, after a new full scanning, it looks like Kaspersky no longer considers usmt.ppkg as malicious.

I don't know if my contribution changed anything, maybe other people contacted Kaspersky's support, or maybe Kaspersky noticed itself that something was wrong lately.

Your technical support needs to learn some manners in any case.
