Kaspersky Internet Security

(ryzen 9 8000 series cpu btw)

I am unable to disable Virtualization Based Security (VBS) on Win11 pro, I tried all the steps pertinent to win 11 in the guide but it doesn't work

Hello @ArHu

Welcome!

  1. Which Windows OS version & build - in Windows Search - type WINVER - apen the app, post back the results?
  2. Which *options* in  About protection through hardware virtualization in Kaspersky applications did you select to *disable* VBS? When ".....it doesn't work" happens -> what happens - what *errors* are displayed - take full-screen-screen-prints & post back, we need to see what (you) see please?
  3. Kaspersky Internet Security is Kaspersky's *old* software, it's been replaced by Kaspersky Standard, Kaspersky is offering a *free* upgrade: READ:  Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium - info & FAQ

Download is available here: https://www.kaspersky.com/downloads#update-product

  • It's (yr) choice whether OR not to install / update a new version over the top OR do a clean install, IF doing a clean install - use Windows Add & Remove programs to remove Kaspersky Internet Security -> save LICENSE information only, when the uninstall is complete - shutdown the computer using SHUTDOWN, not Restart & power-on by pressing the power-button, login, download & install the new software - run a Database update followed by *another* shutdown & power-on of the computer - login & monitor for the original problem? IF it repeats log the issue with Kaspersky Customer Service (KCS):  https://support.kaspersky.com/b2c#contacts, select Email, fill in the template as shown, provide a *detailed-history*                                                image.thumb.png.1f5511160b12fb9c7d3c991dc324a11c.png
  • *Do NOT use the AI-BOT to submit the incident*

Please share the outcome with the Community when it's available?

Thank you🙏

Hello @ArHu

Thank you for the information!

  1. We're not sure how (yr) formatting (your) *reply* to our post - however when we try to reply to (yr) reply all that populates the text box is (yr) last entry.... odd. ****When (you) next REPLY* - select QUOTE
  2. Print-screen - press the Print Screen (PrtSc) key on the keyboard to copy the full screen, then *paste* the output to Paint OR Paint3D or any other graphics editor - save the file as .png OR ,jpg - simple graphics format, in File Explorer - select copy - against the image - come to (yr) reply here in (yr) topic, position the cursor in the text box, right-click, select *paste* from the list of options. READ: How to take a screenshot
  3. Does 'info32' mean MSINFO32?
  4. Try & get a full-screen-screen-print - it will save a lot of grief IF everyone can clearly see what you see please?
  5. In (yr) Windows UPDATES - is Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available ON OR OFF?

Thank you🙏

Hello @ArHu

Thank you for the images & information. Well done!!

  1. Is the running VBS conflicting with Kaspersky?
  2. Have any changes been made to the registry, BIOS, UEFI etc?
  3. Has Microsoft Technical been engaged?
  4. Has Kaspersky Customer Service (KSC) been engaged?

Thank you🙏

In Core Isolation, disable everything and reboot.

yes, kaspersly virtualization cannot be turned on and no. New pc, fresh install. I just increased UMA size and set the pc to performance mode

no, don't feel like going into it too much. Either someone suggest me to get kaspersky working or recommend the best settings in windows (though for gaming I prefer memory integrity off

Does Your CPU support Virtualization, if so, enabled in Your BIOS?

it;s a new ryzen 9 and vbs is running, there is no bios option though

If it is a Ryzen 9, there should be an option for Hardware Virtualization in the BIOS of Your system, just check if enabled.

I have also an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS, and it supports Hardware Virtualization, and it has, of course, that setting in the BIOS to enable / disable.

its a 8945HS i don' t see the option, there's an option to virtualise pci-e

nope, it isn't anywahere, I checked all options. Under cpu is just pss and nx mode. The option was there in my previous minisforum um790 pro with 7940hs but I got a warranty exchange and opted for an upgrade (the um890 pro) for a little bit extra

I have it off, since We have K. Intrusion Prevention, and personably I have it tweaked to harden protection.

Hey,

From what you’ve described, it looks like you’ve already tried pretty much everything on the Windows side (Core Isolation off, features disabled, etc.), so this is likely not something you’re missing — it’s more of a limitation or conflict.

From what I understand, Kaspersky’s hardware virtualization is mainly used for Safe Money (secure browser) and the virtual keyboard, so if you don’t really use those features, you’re honestly not losing much by keeping it disabled.

In fact, many users prefer keeping Windows security features like Core Isolation / Memory Integrity ON instead, since they provide broader system-level protection compared to Kaspersky’s limited virtualization use case.

👉 My suggestion:

  • Don’t stress too much about enabling Kaspersky virtualization
  • Keep your Windows security features optimized (even if you prefer some off for gaming)
  • Focus on overall system stability and performance
