Personal network vs. Unidentified network access

I have had Kaspersky VPN for some months now.  I originally used it on an older pc and was having problems after a few days getting the vpn to connect.  When it did connect I would be able to hover over the wifi icon on the taskbar to verify how I was connected.  My personal network would show no internet access and the unidentified(Kaspersky) with internet access and I would be able to surf.  Then it started showing access to both at the same time when I was able to connect after awhile.  That went on intermittently until the VPN no longer would connect I assume with my router.  I have a new pc and router now and when I first setup KVPN, my personal network would show no internet access and the unidentified(Kaspersky) with internet access.  Now it’s back to 

My question is should both the personal and unidentified networks have access at the same time?
