Is the new Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business 14.0.0.510 not compatible with Windows 10 and/or Avast Free Antivirus?

Hi, just a few days ago, I updated my KART 6.6 to the current version, KART for Business 14 (downloaded directly from the website, not as an automatic update!).

The installation process completed successfully, and then I was prompted to restart my computer.

Unfortunately, upon restart, Windows continues to load the operating system endlessly, without even entering the desktop.

Is anyone else having problems with this update?

Thanks for your attention!

Hi, markinson.

Which version of Avast did you use?

Hi!

I'm using Avast Free Antivirus:

  • program version 26.5.10994g (build 26.5.10994.984)
  • installer version 26.5.10990.0
  • virus definitions version 260609-0.

Thank you so much for interesting!

We have checked KART 6.6 update to KART for Business 14 with Avast Premium/Free Security 26.5.10994a on our Win11 physical stand. There is no reproduction of your problem.

We will continue to investigate your problem.

Can you collect memory.dmp (C:\Windows\) and send it to me, if it exists? Also, it would be nice to collect KART logs.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KasperskyLab\protected\KART.14.0\Trace\Default]
"TraceFileMaxLevel"=dword:00000320
"TraceFileEnable"=dword:00000001

Unfortunately, we couldn't repeat your problem. We have checked different Win10/11 + Avast Premium/Free in upgrade/update scenario 6.6 to KART 14.0.

We need your dump and logs, if you can give it to us.

Thank you again so much for your time and interest!

Since I need to use this workstation, I've rolled back to KART 6.6, which is currently installed and working perfectly.

I can, however, try updating to KART 14.0 again, but before attempting this, I'd like to ask: is it appropriate/better to first remove the "old" KART 6.6 version (perhaps even restarting the computer), or can I install the new KART 14.0 over it?

Thank you so much!

Hi, I've tried everything and I'm still trying them all, including temporarily disabling all my security features (antivirus and firewall, for example). Nothing works: at the first necessary reboot (after installing/updating to KART 14), Windows stays on the welcome page for hours and hours, preventing me from doing anything.

The light comes on every now and then to indicate that the disk is working, but then nothing happens. :(

Further update.

I attempted to install KART 14 for home, but despite carefully removing every previous version of KART (6.6 for business, I mean), it says the business version of the program is present and I can't proceed with the installation.

To remove the existing installation of KART 6.6 for business (and, in my various attempts, also KART 14), I also used Kaspersky Products Remover (kavremover; current version 1.0.5617) after the "standard" removal (by Windows, I mean). No way.

Each time, I'm forced to restore an "old" image of my operating system with KART 6.6 for business. I just hope it doesn't try to automatically update to 14, because otherwise the computer would be unusable, stuck indefinitely on the login/boot screen.

Hi.

"Windows stays on the welcome page for hours and hours"

It is difficult to understand what's happen on your machine without any logs of KART.
Can you get logs from KART, Regedit copy and logs from Event Viewers (System and Application) via Safe Mode of OS. We need this info for investigation.

Is it possible to recheck scenario without Avast? We want to understand Avast affects scenario or not.

"I attempted to install KART 14 for home, but despite carefully removing every previous version of KART (6.6 for business, I mean), it says the business version of the program is present and I can't proceed with the installation."

We are going to investigate this problem. We will give you feedback later.

Did you try to reboot OS after removing KES14.0 and repeat installation of KART Home 14.0?

Dear Andrey,
thank you so much for your invaluable help!
First, following your suggestion, I completely removed Avast Free Antivirus and restarted my computer.
Then, using Kaspersky's removal tool, I also uninstalled KART 6.6 and restarted my computer.
I encountered no problems during this process.
I then installed KART 14 for business, and the installation process was successful. I waited a bit after the installation was complete until the "K" icon appeared in the taskbar near the clock. I then, without doing anything else, restarted my computer.
The restart was quick, and I immediately entered Windows, without any slowdowns or problems.
The "K" icon loaded properly.
I even shut down and restarted my computer several times, without encountering any slowdowns or problems.
I haven't reinstalled Avast yet, but I fear that the problem may be caused by the coexistence, at least on my computer, of these two programs, even though I had previously disabled the control of one in their respective settings.
Thanks again! I'll try reinstalling Avast Free (now Avast One) later...

I glad to hear that your PC can work again.
It looks that problem in our compatibility with Avast product or with a chain between several different programs on your machine. But we couldn't get same result on our test-stands for while.

We will wait your result after reinstallation Avast Free, because we also want to understand a main reason of incompatibility and fix it on our side (if it possible).

Thanks!

Ultimately, the only way to run KART 14 and Avast One (formerly Avast Free Antivirus) on the same Windows 10 computer, thanks to Andrey's suggestions, was as follows:
- even if it's currently up to date, completely remove the existing Avast Free Antivirus edition; then restart the computer;
- to avoid any misunderstandings, completely remove KART 6.6 using the program removal tool provided by Kaspersky; then restart the computer;
- reinstall KART for Business 14 and restart the computer (several times);
- reinstall Avast One, bypassing any control over the folders and Kaspersky's operations.

So far, it seems to be working... THANK YOU so much for your patience!
