having DNS issues with the new Kaspersky VPN Wire Gaurd update version 21.23.6.614-2

Specifically i try connecting to Canada - Toronto, which works but then i try connecting to dnsleaktest.com and i try and get this:

nslookup dnsleaktest.com
Server:  unn-149-50-222-3.datapacket.com
Address:  149.50.222.3

*** unn-149-50-222-3.datapacket.com can't find dnsleaktest.com: Server failed

so i had to go into the network adapter called "Kaspersky VPN WG Nt Adapter Tunnel" and manually set the DNS to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare’s DNS) and 8.8.8.8 and had to set "obtain ip address automatically" in the ipv4 properties.

im guessing there is a configuration issue on kaspersky's end since its a new vpn update? I also tried to set the firewall inbound UDP remote ports to allow any address from 53 and 51820 (supposedly a wire guard default port) i also tried with TCP ports but that didnt work.

I hope this helps admin to realize and fix it, but yeah right now your VPN's DNS is kinda working for some sites and not for others.
also sad to see you removed montreal server, now theyre all gonna flock to toronto :c

also trying to use "Fastest Server" results in connecting to Bangladesh and having my ip show in paris, like what? lol

not sure why to be careful, not sure how to be careful.

I did notice that keeping the first DNS address as their server then changing the backup to 1.1.1.1 seems to work best, and needs to be done manually and not by a script (unfortunately you need to do this every time you connect), checking the validate settings upon exit seems to help.

Simply because using another DNS server might expose your data. You're sending you request to a public DNS server.
Even tho it should still be tunneling through the VPN, There a chance it might also leak out.

If you're not using all kaspersky's parameters it kind of defeats the purpose of using a VPN.
I'm afraid kaspersky needs to fix it or at least reach out to whoever next in the chain.

I've been having VPN issues as well for aboot the last 24 hours.  I have Kasper Premium.  Appeared to mainly be an issue only with my Samsung phone as my aged laptop running Win10 appeared fine (although I didn't spend a lot of time on it).  Some sites (ie bitchute) will load a page, but not the video and some sites won't load at all.  Tried both Opera and Firefox.  I noticed some success if I also engaged the VPN built into Opera and of course total success if I just turn the Kasper VPN off.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Kasper Premium as well as both browsers.  My Spidey senses were tingling when the VPN disabled last night and flashed the message my download limit was reached (it's unlimited).  I've 18 days left before renewal, so I hope Kasper gets this corrected quickly because I don't want to switch providers.

Edit....I agree with others, it is unfortunate Montreal has lost their servers.

Since the new update it's been pretty chaotic. This update (21.23.6.614-2) introduced WireGuard-based VPN tunneling for improved speed and stability but it also seems to have broken DNS resolution.

I have Android and windows devices with this VPN and they all have the same problem.
If you are comfortable, you can try changing the DNS with 1.1.1.1 and/or 8.8.8.8 on the Kaspersky VPN WG Nt Adapter Tunnel to test it out.
BUT I do not recommend this as a work around as this may leave you vulnerable for data leak.

Make sure you let support know by creating a ticket and mention the known issue for version 21.23.6.614-2

i tried uninstalling kaspersky premium in hopes to reinstall so the vpn would sort itself out but now im getting "Activation code is invalid for this region error" which ive never had an issue before. my account and ip is both canadian and my windows region was set to US when installed but that was never an issue before. ;n;

Also where the hell is support, i tried email phone and messages but they all end with no dialogue or email confirmation, and tried on both firefox and chrome. now i cant even use kaspersky antivirus and theres no support... i did pay for premium ;-; this really sucks. at least i didnt uninstall my password manager

i dont know what to do x-x;

Hi,

You can try to change internet connection a mobile network like mobile data for activation.

Then you can change your internet again.

Thanks

Looking sharp sir Hasan. i knew with one look in your eyes you had the answer, and you were right, it was my network connection. my vpn installed with kaspersky premium and was not configured or connected, once i changed it to Toronto the activation of kaspersky premium worked instantly.

interesting to note while my vpn was not configured (on but not connected) and I logged into this site, the site detected me from the US even though my ip was from canada (im using starlink), which might be another clue to the default vpn dns settings being messed up?

Sir Hasan, i would mark you as the right answer but the debacle to resolve the mystery of kaspersky VPN DNS problems continues. So even with a clean install and settings of Kaspersky premium and VPN, the VPN still has issues with loading most sites like dnsleaktest.com
