Can I retrieve the 8 apps erased by the "Clean up" tool in "Managing applications" from my PC? [unknowingly]

I couldn't even view what programs were, nor do I now. It includes games with their respective savegames, programs with relevant files, etc.

Under the Manage applications in Windows,

I just clicked on the to Clean up option.

I thought that it would appear to prompt the suggested apps list

to delete/uninstall.

Instead, it merely removed eight apps, with no warning

or proper explanation at all!

These include many meaningful ones, like some games and

countless hours of saved games.

And that is all gone. I have lost it.

I have no security backup, no restoration option, or possible synchronization because I have been using this site since yesterday.

Below Clean up, it says: Hide non-existent applications. And they were not!

Is there a chance to check the apps deleted by this tool? Is there any way I can find out which ones they are and recover them? (Maybe I don't know how to do it because I am unfamiliar with this software and could be my fault bc I do not understand this site yet.)

I guess all get lost after the software just uninstalled them? But I do not get that method.

There is no notice. Or easy to access information on that window,

explaining how it will be the Clean up tool…

I'm concerned and somewhat disillusioned with how the app started.

Honestly, I cannot help feeling upset about this situation.

I am still trying to process what just happened. Due to one click, I removed eight of my applications and programs, games, and others absurdly on my PC. (?)

I am not even sure what all the eight apps are.

Any kind comments and help regarding this are truly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Hello @kimera

Welcome!

  1. IF you’re referring to Application control, Manage applications, Clean up, below Clean up, it says, Hide missing applications
  2. Re checking which apps were deleted, we’ve previously raised this with Kaspersky, there is no way of knowing which applications have been removed → the documentation states: Clean up → Clicking this link causes Kaspersky Security Cloud to remove applications that no longer exist from the list.
  • IF, for example, an app that was previously installed, has been uninstalled (from the computer), but remains in the Manage Applications list, the Clean up function will clear it from the application interface, the application will be refreshed.
  • We’ve logged a new case with support, just to confirm the above information, as soon as they respond we’ll update this topic.

Thank you🙏,

Hello @kimera

  • Support have confirmed, the Kaspersky Security Cloud Application controlManage applicationsClean up option, only removes from the Kaspersky Security Cloud application list - any application that has been removed from the computer → the Kaspersky Security Cloud Clean up function does not remove/uninstall any application from the computer.
  • Support also confirmed, no Report is generated, when the Clean up option is selected.
  • 💥 IF there’s ongoing issues, log a case with Kaspersky support, fill in either Chat or Email, select Application Malfunction, Other template; Support may request logs, traces & other data, they will guide you.
  • When it’s available, please share the outcome with the Community?

Hello @kimera

We sent questions to Russia HQ, requesting they explain the Hide missing applications, that shows beneath the Clean up function, the following is their response:

1. What does *Hide missing applications * actually mean?

  • > 'Hide missing applications' is a small explanatory note below 'Clean up' in the product GUI.

2. Why does the GUI show Clean up & Hide missing  applications?

  • > We can say that Clean up = Hide missing applications.

3. Can Missing applications be unhidden?

  • > No, regretfully, missing applications cannot be unhidden.

Thank you🙏,

First of all, thank you very much for your prompt replies.

I saw that my desktop shortcuts for the 8 apps disappeared instantly. I have found that they have all been deleted. And that I have to reinstall apps belonging to the Creative Cloud, for example, and games.

I can't figure out which apps have all been deleted from the desktop.

Thanks for your reply. I am relieved to know that at least no data was supposedly deleted.

Thanks for your help.

@kimera Welcome.

Do you have a valid restore point ?

First of all, thank you very much for your prompt replies.

I apologize for creating the same question in two forums. I just didn't know where I could get more help. Do you recommend I ask here or in the Spanish-speaking forum? where there is more activity.

Hello, Everyone This post is helpful. Thanks you so much.

The following is the response from Russia's headquarters to our questions regarding hiding missing applications option that appears under the Clean up option:

1. Can I hide missing applications if I use the *Hide missing applications * option?

Under 'Clean up' in the product GUI, there is a small explanation of how to hide missing applications.
2. How did this appear on the GUI? In the Clean up tab, you can choose to Hide missing applications.
3. Is it possible to unhide missing applications? It is not possible to unhide missing applications. Please accept my sincere thanks for your prompt response. Your desktop shortcuts for the eight programs disappeared immediately. Upon checking, I discovered all of them had been deleted. Furthermore, I've had to reinstall Creative Cloud apps and games, for instance. My desktop has all been emptied of apps. I don't know which ones have been deleted.

Your help is much appreciated.
