URGENT help required with KSK uninstall!
chavs_uk replied to chavs_uk's topic in Kaspersky Safe Kids
Update! I have - finally - managed to get the app uninstalled from the device, but not without the expected back-and-forth emails from Kaspersky "support" ! Firstly, they asked me to send screenshots of the process; there wasn't much point as it didn't show anything, but I did as requested anyway. Secondly, they asked me to install an app called AIDA64 and send them an extremely long datafile/log of the device's setup, which I did. At this point, it became annoying, because another "agent" took over the case and just sent a reply saying "sorry for the inconvenience, you must have just had a temporary connection error trying to connect to your account, please try again and let us know if you require further help." Needless to say, my response to that email wasn't overly polite, and I requested they escalate it to someone who had an ounce of common sense between their ears instead. I then received a reply from yet another person with an apology and a set of 3 options to try. One of the options was the 'safe mode' option, but that doesn't work because KSK prevents the device from starting in safe mode, so that was a no-go from the outset. The second option did work, therefore I obviously didn't try the third. I'm more than happy to share the instructions that DID work here, if that would be allowed? Just wanted to make sure that's allowed before I post them! I'm off to work shortly, so it could be a day or two before I'm able to get back on to check for an update. -
Probably a corrupted update, try a clean installation.

Configuring KEA update task is of crucial importance. Updated KATA telemetry filters, exclusions and performance optimizations are delivered via bases. However, KEA has no transparent means to check bases version locally. The solution to this demand is to check bases version locally via CLI. KEA for Windows bases date From Elevated Command Prompt, execute: type "C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\Endpoint Agent\4.0\Bases\Current\aptem.stt" The example output is as follows, ;202209190911 Format is ;YYYYMMDDHHMM KEA for Linux (LENA) bases date Fresh installation For a fresh LENA installation that has never been updated, the bases "aptem.stt" file might be missing. From root or using sudo: sudo cat /var/opt/kaspersky/epagent/update/bases/aptem.stt Output format is the same, ;YYYYMMDDHHMM. Using built-in tools, we can easily make it in a proper way: sudo cat /var/opt/kaspersky/epagent/update/bases/aptem.stt | sed -E 's/\;([0-9]{8})([0-9]{2})([0-9]{2})/\1 \2:\3/g' | xargs -0 date -d Bonus: LENA's Last update date Lena's Last update date is stored in epoch format in /opt/kaspersky/epagent/update/last_update. Using built-in tools, we can make it human-readable: sudo cat /var/opt/kaspersky/epagent/update/last_update | xargs -0 -I% date -d \@% It is also worth mentioning that "Last update date" is relevant but it is still entirely different value than bases date. In case the bases in repository are outdated, Last Update date may be 5 minutes ago, yet bases will remain old.

Kaspersky VPN / DNS Issues After PureVPN Integration - Time for Kaspersky Statement
Loose 1000 posted a topic in Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection
We have all been struggling with VPN and DNS issues after the recent update to Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection which involved integrating PureVPN into its services. After 8 days waiting for this issue to be resolved I can no longer justify spending any more time dealing with an unreliable and intermittent VPN, so have uninstalled it and paid for a month with another provider. As a Kaspersky loyalist who has used Kaspersky's products for nearly a decade, and never had any of my systems breached under Kaspersky's guardianship, I find having to uninstall their VPN immensely disappointing. For those of you still struggling with issues like intermittent VPN access, zero access or partial access to some sites (YouTube and Google Maps among others in my case) and your DNS malfunctioning, in my view this cannot be solved at the users end as it is an issue Kaspersky's integration of PureVPN's servers into it's security architecture. * IT IS TIME FOR KASPERSKY LAB TO RESPOND I am formally requesting that an OFFICIAL UPDATE from Kaspersky Lab is sent to all users of Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection via email to clarify the nature of the remaining issues and when they can be expected to be solved. In my view 8 days of a virtually unusable VPN is a serious enough failure to maintain an internet security component that a FULL ROLLBACK of the update needs to be considered until the developers find a 100 percent functional and permanent solution to the issue. In the meantime, having reluctantly uninstalled Kaspersky VPN, I can now get on with my work with a 100 percent reliable VPN. For the reader, let me know what you think, or if you have come across any solution that works for you. * Once Kaspersky Lab issues a statement on the issue as requested above I will download and test Kaserpsky VPN Secure Connection again, because, as I say, I am a Kasperksy loyalist and still believe their security suite is the Gold Standard in internet security.- 15 replies

Kaspersky VPN / DNS Issues After PureVPN Integration - Time for Kaspersky Statement
Loose 1000 replied to Loose 1000's topic in Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection
Kaspersky's latest statement is here: https://support.kaspersky.com/faq/ksec-migration It contains download links for another update for all devices and and subscription types. So its important to try that, and if the situation hasn't improved either lodge or update a support ticket, this will help Kaspersky further diagnose the issues and how widespread they are. The absence of any contribution or explanation by this forum's moderators on many of the threads concerning this issue is telling. It may indicate that a strict "no comment" directive from legal and PR has been applied to what can be described as follows: "A Severity 1 (SEV-1) incident: a global service degradation lasting more than 4 hours , triggering company-wide emergency protocols." Normally an outage affecting connectivity for a majority of users would be expected to be resolved within 24-48 hours. Just how widespread this is issue is unknown but given that the update applies to all platforms and subscription types it is likely to be extensive, and silence can be a form of damage control. There must be a fundamental incompatibility between Kaspersky's software and PureVPN's infrastructure that requires a major re-engineering effort to fix. Temporary use of one of the many free VPNs is a good option to have a break from the stress of dealing with this. I wish I could be of more help, just know that you are definitely not alone.- 15 replies

Update to the Latest Version for Smooth VPN Performance
Impulse9 replied to Igor Kurzin's topic in Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection
Sent a support ticket 6 days ago and received 2 replies only, both asking me for logs, system info and many things that are obviously not related to the problem, are the customer support people not told that the issue is your service and not my completely unrelated 4 devices all on different versions of the app and now updated to equally useless latest versions? It's fairly straightforward that whatever update was done, was done incorrectly or to extremely low quality servers and now doesn't work. I asked for a partial refund at the very least because I paid for a service and I got an application that has to stay turned off and no service but "I'm out of the 30-day period" so I can't even get my money back after years of paying for this service. I don't see any updates anywhere and this was after the atrocious changes announced at the end of November, "update to the latest version" does nothing, I've been on the last 3 "latest" versions and the debug version, unable to refresh gmail or get a whatsapp message, even play a youtube video on a computer. For all the people who will rightfully cancel the service, you should at least post an update explaining that the service doesn't work or instruct your customer service to be honest instead of saying that updating the application will magically fix the bad service provided. -

Having issues with VPN
Loose 1000 replied to nonanche92000's topic in Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection
Hi nonanche9200, Please understand that this is a problem at Kaspersky's end caused entirely by an external service migration i.e the integration of PureVPN's services into Kaspersky VPN's architecture. No amount of tinkering with your systems configuration will fix the issue as there is likely nothing wrong with you system's configuration. You should have received a notification about this via email, but if not I have pasted it below for you. The only thing to do is to return your configuration settings back to where they were and ... wait. It has been 7 days for me now, but it is better each day. You may wish to lodge a support ticket as this will give Kaspersky information on how widespread the issue is and what kind of problems are most common amongst users. * The error message you posted: "error ID 4311 NetBt it says : "Initialization failed because the device driver could not be created." is a Windows message about its native networking component (NetBT) failing to initialize because of a virtual network adapter that is being created and destroyed repeatedly. This is almost certainly the Kaspersky VPN WG Nt Adapter getting stuck in a loop creating a virtual adapter, failing, aborting, and repeating and perhaps failing to clean up perfectly, leaving ghost entries or creating new ones each time. This is why you have 173 (or more now) new Local Area Connection connections. Again there is nothing wrong at your end and you can't fix it, it would be like taking your car to a mechanic because a major road has been blocked by an earth slide. * The 256 DNS errors you've had in the last 24 hours are also related to the Kaspersky VPN issues, you can't change this either. Open a command prompt and type in: ping 1.1.1.1 <Enter> and ping 8.8.8.8 <Enter> You should get normal round trip times of around 10 to 80 ms or so. This will show there is nothing wrong with your DNS settings or the Cloudfare and Google DNS servers. I hope this helps. Ironically I had to type this out twice because when I posted it the first time the VPN cut out! 🙄 Important information about your Kaspersky VPN Dear customer, We’d like to inform you that we’re currently transitioning Kaspersky VPN to a new infrastructure to ensure a smooth and reliable experience for all our users. Kaspersky Android flags Samsung Internet as trojan
K0908 replied to K0908's topic in Virus and Ransomware related questions
The upload limit was 10MB each and 3 max. So there is no way I can upload the apk. I will provide the scenario info and screenshot. They should be able to get the apk from play store themselves. Just to sum up my case: App: Samsung Internet Base version: 27.0.9.86 https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/bd0164c2ac0ca55f3bf7fe947508e3285ca546c95eb995d04f0996dfff46231b Update Version: 29.0.0.59 https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/c50af847dc88344cfc47a0724c021dbd0b54fc6bb5872b82b25ca4dd259d76c3/details Both of them passed VirusTotal including Kaspersky. Can't upload to opentip due to size limit. Symptom: Kaspersky Triggers HEUR: Trojan-Spy.AndroidOS.SmForw.bs when I try to update the app or full scan on already updated app. Current Solution: Uninstall update and disable auto update for this app. I don't believe it is a real virus. It is hundreds of millions current users we are talking about. -
Kaspersky Safe Kids reports my child used 2 hours 46 minutes when only 30 mins permitted
Flood and Flood's wife replied to Bernd Wechner's topic in Kaspersky Safe Kids
Hello @Bernd Wechner, Welcome! KSK time report discrepancy issues may be difficult, we always try to replicate the original complaint for comparison, so apologies for the delay. Regarding (your) 12year old hacking KSK or the OS: Have (you) asked them - in all seriousness - it's much better to be upfront, something along the lines of, it's not that we don't trust you but you're a smart kid, we don't want to waste time with Community support / support if you've messed with the system, the reason we have KSK is to keep you safe. In our tests we replicated the issue - then resolved it - this is where it took so long bc KSK is a PIA when it comes to uninstall & clean install & post install. That's what (you) need to do, shutdown *absolutely-everything*, then, using Windows Add & remove programs - uninstall KSK, then shutdown the computer, make sure it's a *full* shutdown, restart, login. Download a *new* KSK installer from here: https://www.kaspersky.com/downloads - scroll down to the downloads section & select KSK. Install KSK, after the full install, reboot the computer, make sure it's a *full* shutdown, restart, login. At this point KSK time reporting will be *accurate* but KSK will send a notification in 24 to 48 hrs to do *another* *full* shutdown bc it will have applied the latest version *silently* - make sure you do the *full* shutdown, restart, login *again*. At that point KSK time reporting will still be working & you & the kid are good to go. A couple of other points to note: BOTH children must only have a LOCAL Windows user account - no elevated profiles whatsoever. Both Children - IF the children use Android phones (as well) the Settings application must be Forbidden. To permit access to this is the equivalent of giving an elevated profile on a Windows device. Images: the 1st set shows KSK version originally installed, version post install & replication of (your) KSK time settings Set 2 shows: KSK version post silent update & KSK report, for todays time-test we allocated 10 minutes, was on the computer for 8, KSK updated accurately-in-real-time. Please share the outcome with the Community, when it's available? Thank you🙏 Flood🐳+🐋 -
Kaspersky Standard 21.24.8.522 forced AI
onlyme07 posted a topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
My subscription is about to expire in 22 days and I am hoping that the developers will remove the forced Ai that has been added in the update to above new version that occured today on my PC. I don't trust Ai with my data and spend my life removing it from as many products as possible. Please can Kaspersky allow us to opt out of the forced Ai even if it means reverting us to the previous version of Kaspersky Standard while they code this option. I run a business advising customers on security as well as selling new PCs and I refuse to sell/use or recommend any product with forced Ai in it. -
Kaspersky Extension not working with Microsoft Edge..
Yoji posted a topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
Just upgraded to version Premium 21.24.8.522 and noticed it alerting me in the "home" section of the app to turn on MS Edge extension... so I said to turn it on. It took me to Edge, but shows the extension as already installed.. so I removed it... and readded it, but no change, it says its installed, but remains Grey and the warning inside the app to turn it on remains. (and I have rebooted, just to be sure) The extension page says its version 2.13.33.2 dated 18th Sep 2025 (on the Chrome web store). My version of Edge is up to date... 144.0.3719.104 PC is Win 11 Pro, 25H2 fully patched... ver 26200.7628 Just me? any ideas? I presume Kaspersky just have to pull their finger out and update something -

Kaspersky Extension not working with Microsoft Edge..
Yoji replied to Yoji's topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
Thanks all... I can confirm the update to 21.24.8.522 was done manually, over the top of my previous install So I did as @newbie1 suggested and did a complete uninstall of the whole app and reinstalled. The extension then behaved differently to before... When it was not working, when I clicked on it in the list of extensions, it opened a box with a grey shield on the left, and an arrow pointing to (what I now assume to be) a settings screen.. clicking in that box did nothing. After the fresh install, clicking on it in the list of extensions did open a settings screen (as shown in @harlan4096 screen shot above). And once enabled things, the icon turned green as shown in attached screen shot. So I thought I was done and all good. But I rebooted, and now the icon is back to grey, but the settings do open, and seem to be selected, so I assume it is actually working (see second screen shot) Anyway - thanks for everyones help.
