Question malware detected other software
AlexeyK replied to carlos88's topic in Virus and Ransomware related questions
Real-time protection and full scanning are different processes. Yes, it didn't have a malware file signature. You may install Kaspersky Free again, update the databases, and perform a full scan. If it finds nothing - you don't need anything else. Perhaps this file wasn't used at all, but only laid quietly in the folder. Most likely, everything is fine with files. If there are documents, photos, archives, etc. - just open some number of them and check. -

Kaspersky creates a shortcut on my Desktop without asking my permission.
Decimus Maxentius replied to Decimus Maxentius's topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
Yes, the icon appears again but not in next system start, it's recreated after database or Kaspersky software update. I believe this happens when Kaspersky client app GUI gets updates. I think people who is responsible for software deployment/distribution (Setup package programmers) should check this issue. Should do something like excluding default shortcut (icon) creation in silent/background update mode. If someone wants to have an icon on desktop should be able to use special checkbox for that during the Setup (Installation) process. But if it's being installed silently (background update mode) no shortcuts (icons) should be created on Desktop. That's how most user-friendly apps behave from my personal experience. I understand when a web browser creates an icon on Desktop without asking a user, because web browsers frequently used apps. But why to do this with an antivirus? It's meant to run in background and guard your PC, there is nothing to do on antivirus GUI, except one-time configuration. -

How can I get the Kaspersky Protection extension to work in Brave browser?
harlan4096 replied to fcvreqnynw's topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
Welcome to Kaspersky Community. Currently, Kaspersky Protection extension does not support directly Brave, but there is a trick I recall it worked, renaming Brave.exe to Chrome.exe, but You will have to do so every time Brave.exe gets an update. -

Cant add some Zoom.exe file to application control
Flood and Flood's wife replied to Hendarto's topic in Kaspersky Total Security
Hello @Hendarto, Welcome! *First* KTS is Kaspersky's *old* software, it's been replaced, update to Kaspersky Plus, the update is *free* & is *like-for-like*; read: Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium - info & FAQ, by Danila T. Kaspersky Plus can be downloaded here: https://www.kaspersky.com/downloads#update-product. *Second*- why are (you) adding any Zoom - that is already *Trusted* by Kaspersky? *After* uninstalling KTS - shutdown the computer using SHUTDOWN, not Restart, power ON by pressing the power button, login. Download & install Kaspersky Plus, after installing Kaspersky Plus, do the following: Sign-into Kaspersky Plus *application* with the same email address (you) use to sign-into (your) MyKaspersky account - so Kaspersky Plus *application* & the license in (your) MyKaspersky account synchronise. Delete the zoom exe *copy* from Kaspersky Manage applications. Run a Database update. Shutdown the computer using SHUTDOWN, not Restart, power ON by pressing the power button, login. Recheck Zoom? Please share the outcome, with the Community, when it's available? Thank you? Flood?+? -
Kaspersky Standard - 30% GPU Usage too high in Idle
AlexeyK replied to Doctorull's topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
@Doctorull The issue has already been fixed in patch B for 21.22, which is distributed to users gradually. To check the availability of this patch, update the databases of version 21.22 and restart your OS. Or wait for 21.23 release - in this version the issue, of course, has also been fixed. -
Thrusted applications are not that thursted
AlexeyK replied to ursu82's topic in Virus and Ransomware related questions
I can't see clearly any file. Repeat for the third time: first of all, update the product version, KAV is outdated - bugs are no longer fixed. -
Thrusted applications are not that thursted
AlexeyK replied to ursu82's topic in Virus and Ransomware related questions
@ursu82 How can we verify that the exception was created correctly if you're hiding all information? If the first three exceptions in Program Files (x86) were made for the same file, update the product version to K. Standard as @Berny recommended above. And submit the file via TIP (button "Send to reanalyse") or customer service as @harlan4096 proposed. -
@Schulte Thanks, I disabled the option to test But I don't have a metered connections, so it would be weird if that were it The error during the manual update (report) wouldn't be related ? Yes, of course. I always check the date and time of the databases in the evening When I restarted K and got the message that the databases were out of date, I did a manual update and I've checked every day since For example, I didn't get the automatic update to get today's at 5:22 PM, and when I did it manually at 6:00 PM, I got it However, I set it up so that updates are "checked" 3 minutes after launching the application (see screenshot above) Thanks
-
Ok, I closed and reopened K, more than waited 10 minutes, and there was no database update. Still the same one I did a manual search, and I got this It's 6 p.m for me (18:00) So the problem is just with the update search performed by K, but no problem with the manual search... Where could the problem come from ? Surprising that K uses Windows files to update itself Thanks
-
Hello @harlan4096 I have this (like you, except "do not disturb" which is checked) I don't know why the "Battery" option is grayed out (it's a desktop) @nexon With the settings set to automatic, I didn't get an update yesterday (May 1st) I had closed K for less than an hour during the day, before the database update at 9:26 PM (the time of the last update)
-
Hi @Bav, It is desirable to have the very latest database updates all the time, but not absolutely necessary. Kaspersky has extensive capabilities to detect malware as soon as it is launched. This works for a certain time even without up-to-date databases. The latest signatures would be an advantage for a scan, but undetected malware is harmless as long as it is not launched. Then the program control and other detection techniques intervene again. If the scan you start thinks the databases are too old, it will offer to update them first. But they are never really out of date. As soon as your computer is online, your Kaspersky can receive urgent information via the KSN and is therefore informed about the very latest known malware. If you still prefer a quick way for updates, you can create a batch file on the desktop, for example. For the MR21 the command is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky 21.21\avp.com" update Then it's just a double-click...

Hello, Since two days ago I have seen that I can not start up the Battle.net application when Kaspersky is enabled. This has happened to other programs before, so I would usually add Battle.net to "Specify Trusted Applications" but this is where the second part of the issue happens. When I add the Battle.net launcher to the list, my Kaspersky would immediately crash. I have sent in a crash report when it happened, but I doubt that would help me with my immediate issue. I have run Windows update, Networking driver check and Kaspersky update but none have seemed to help. Could you please advise on what I can do to mitigate either part of this issue? Thank you.

Did Kaspersky just install Microsoft Update KB2670838 on W7 SP1 machines?
Tabby replied to Tabby's topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
Hi! I have 21.20.8.505 showing. But when I looked up what that Windows update does, it seemed an unlikely candidate for Kaspersky to require, and I removed it without Kaspersky or anything attempting to download it again after another two restarts, which is probably the biggest indicator. I racked my brain and it's possible this was caused by me starting installation of the .exe for IceCream Video Editor, a freebie I got years ago, I did this offline last week and it failed to install, requesting some Windows function I don't have (a common occurrence) so I cancelled the installation (and had forgotten about it when I did the restart). But looking at the areas that update covers, it may have initiated a request for the update. Because my OS is so old, and this computer so slow, I sometimes keep .exes and then install > use > uninstall > clean registry afterwards, all while offline. So that might be the solution, I don't really want to retry to test it unless someone else reports the same thing. It's never happened before from using a software, then uninstalling it, that's why it took a while for the penny to drop. Thank you! -
