  1. This morning I turned on my PC. Never had an issue with KAV. I know US gov't cancelled KAV- not happy. Well this unknown company and its software UltraAv automatically installed on my computer. I WAS NEVER ASKED NOR NOTIFIED THAT THIS INSTALLATION WOULD HAPPEN. Also, I CANNOT UNINSTALL IT! I used Windows 11 Uninstall, everything was supposed to be removed. Well I restarted the computer and found the UltraAv had reinstalled itself. I DO NOT WANT THIS SOFTWARE! How can this removed PERMANENTLY?
  2. Hi folks, this is an Official Statement from Kaspersky and UltraAV on the recent update Following the recent decision by the U.S. Department of Commerce that prohibits Kaspersky from selling or updating certain antivirus products in the United States, Kaspersky partnered with antivirus provider UltraAV to ensure continued protection for US-based customers that will no longer have access to Kaspersky’s protections. Kaspersky and UltraAV worked closely to ensure customers would maintain the standards of security and privacy users have come to expect from their service. UltraAV includes comparable features such as: ● Industry-leading antivirus protection - Protects against malware, spyware, ransomware, adware and more ● Premium VPN - Prevents your data from being intercepted, and allows you to surf the web anonymously and enjoy global content. ● Password Manager - Create strong passwords, securely store them in one place, and autofill them with just a few clicks. ● Identity Theft Protection - Comprehensive Identity protection including credit monitoring with real-time alerts, immediate support, and $1 million in insurance coverage Please reference this chart to see how UltraAV delivers the high-level of security provided in your previous service. Kaspersky has additionally partnered with UltraAV to make the transition to their product as seamless as possible, which is why on 9/19, U.S. Kaspersky antivirus customers received a software update facilitating the transition to UltraAV. This update ensured that users would not experience a gap in protection upon Kaspersky’s exit from the market. To learn more about UltraAV, visit their website. If you have more questions about the transition, please review the frequently asked questions or contact their support team.
  3. Hello @viper69, Welcome! Unfortunately we don't have any guidelines for UltraAV, nor the total force silent migration, but, having a quick look at the UltraAV website they have: How to uninstall Ultra Antivirus on Windows 11 -> we have *no idea* if that will remove the software permanently - all we can suggest is to please follow it & if there's any issues please log a request with Kaspersky Customer Service - https://support.kaspersky.com/b2c#contacts , they have access to (your) subscription & private information, for privacy reasons, the Kaspersky Community doesn't -> on the support page, select either Email or Chat, then fill in the template as shown - *select (your) Kaspersky software (1) from the drop-down list*; (there's no templates available to address UltraAV issues); please include a *detailed history*: *Also - IF requesting Chat request the operator email (you) a copy of the chat transcript *before* ending the chat - otherwise (you'll) have no record of the chat* *IF they tell (you) to contact UltraAV, please do that as well, again, unfortunately we don't have any guidelines for their support system but the support link is: https://support.ultrasecureav.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. Please share the outcome with the Community, when it's available? Thank you? Flood?+?
  4. Honestly, UltraAV is not good at all. It has poor detection, tons of false positives, massive system impact, and causes regular blue screens. If your Kaspersky subscription already expired, consider yourself lucky for not being ripped off by having part of your paid subscription switched to UltraAV. I would suggest using Bitdefender, ESET, or another reputable antivirus instead of UltraAV.
  5. Hello, As you may know, the US authorities have restricted the sales and distribution of Kaspersky products in the US, but we remain committed to providing you with the utmost cybersecurity. And as we’re forced to limit our cybersecurity products in functionality, we give you an opportunity to get a replacement security solution by our trusted partner — UltraAV. UltraAV will be activated under your existing subscription and login information, license duration and device coverage are carried over, and there is no price increase. There’s no effort needed from your side, and your Windows apps will update automatically – only very old Windows app versions, Android, Mac and iOS apps require manual update, which we additionally inform you about in corresponding in-app communications. For any further information our colleagues in UltraAV Support Team will be happy to assist you, please feel free to reach out to them https://support.ultrasecureav.com/hc/en-us
  6. I've been with Kaspersky for longer than I care to think about. It's always been reliable and really great software that I recommended to all my friends, family and colleagues. Why they would choose UltraAV as their "trusted partner", then decide to automatically install their horrible antivirus without warning is simply unforgivable. In the initial announcement and received notice we were told that Kaspersky would continue working on systems in the US, it would simply no longer receive security updates. Installing software no one asked for which in turn deletes software I paid a non refundable subscription for violates the terms Kaspersky set forth in their notices. This should have been an opt-in by means of email to all existing US account holders. Kaspersky will probably get sued over this and I'm truly sorry to say it's actually deserved. This was the worst way it could have been handled. I've read the claims above that it was done to ensure a smooth transition but doing something like that should have had testing and again, most importantly, an opt-in notice that required users to go sign up to have UltraAV. Truly a shame Kaspersky.. Truly.
  7. UltraAV's customer service consists of waiting forever for a chat agent that files to claim to an escalation team "that will get back to you via email" and never does after a week+ of waiting.
  8. UltraAV caused many of my programs to crash. Tried everything. Tried contacting support. Takes at least 24 hours to respond. Hired an IT person. It was just easier to purchase new software and delete that headache from my computer. What a disaster. I guess kaspersky knows how to give a Bronx salute. Should be renamed UlcerFU.
  9. I woke up Thursday morning to find UltraAV on my PC and didn't know what it was or where it came from. A quick search of the name and I was able to figure out what happened from all the irate people that were in my same situation. To say I am beyond disappointed in Kaspersky is an understatement. I swore by your product for almost a decade and was pretty pissed off when I found out about the US forcing you out of the market. That said, this little stunt with UAV destroyed any sympathy or good will I had for you guys. My PC crashed 8 times in two days and locked-up or failed to reboot countless times. Attempts to roll back to restore points failed, attempts to restore a backup image failed. I lost 1/2 a day from work screwing with the PC until finally I was able to boot it into safe mode and remove that abomination of an AV utility. I now get to lose my Saturday tomorrow doing the same on my kids and wife's PCs. I cannot stress in any more plain English than this move royally pissed me off. Please fire any bone-headed executives or managers s that approved or followed orders to execute such a stupid action without so much as a popup asking people if they were OK with installing a third party's utility.
  10. This is how to get rid of it...Revo didn't even locate it. Dig around in C:\Program Files\Ultra AV folder. There is a program in there called UAUninstaller.exe. Run that...eeeeeeeasy peasy. Killing off processes via Task Manager didn't work. Revo didn't work. Programs and Features when prodded didn't list it. The only reliable way, it seems, is to use the above method. After that if you feel like being a completist, do a "regedit" if you are computer savvy and search for all instances of "UltraAV" and "UltraVPN" and blast them out, 1 by 1. I am finally rid of it all. You're welcome. ?
  11. I was able to download the ultraav software. I am configuring it now. Probably okay now. I appreciate you helping. I wish I could keep using Kaspersky but it's not like my government listens to the working people.
  12. That doesn't really help me but I understand you cannot do much more given where I am and my birth country. However, if we can get either the no downgraded version to connect in "free mode" or get the UltraAV update I could get back to doing what I need to do.
  13. Help!!! My Kaspersky software says it has expired even though I was on auto-renew, and my computers were NOT updated to Ultra. I am now VPN-less. I received a notice a few days ago about being upgraded but was never received anything from UltraAV nor was my computer automatically updated. My Kaspersky VPN has reverted to the free version with limited use but it is unable to connect to it's chosen server and I am not able to select a server. I am behind the bamboo curtain. I can pay with Unionpay card if need be. No U.S. money involved is OK I think.
  14. Wow, an abysmal performance by Kaspersky UltraAV. So much for Kaspersky being all about providing the best protection shown by independent tests. Their own software may have been developed to that point in order to increase market share profits, but it obviously wasn't with any regard to being good for users, or they would not have spontaneously delivered a fake antivirus worse than McAfee or Windows Defender. And they absolutely could have chosen to do prorated refunds instead, if partnering with a legitimate antivirus for transition wasn't an option.
  15. I'm furious that this UltraAV garbage literally installed itself without permission as I was removing Kaspersky to install a different AV software. I was hoping to go back to Kaspersky after the US government stops being stupid towards your company after a decade+ of being a satisfied customer. After this complete breach of trust for some shady Indian vaporware company owned by an equally shady US holding corporation I will NEVER be one of your customers again. I cannot fathom why Kaspersky would utterly destroy its reputation by doing something this half assed and unprofessional. You went from a top tier security company to forcibly dumping your customers with a back alley 3rd world operator, giving them root access to our computers without our consent. WHAT THE EFFIN' HECK KASPERSKY!?
  16. You still have not addressed anyone's concerns, including the extremely low quality of the UltraAV software. Don't be a coward and parrot your employer's propaganda.
  17. I think I've managed to get rid of the malware now, but since it re-installed itself once already I guess I'll find out over time. Yes, malware, what else would you call software that deletes files without permission or notice? Windows Update, sure, but mostly just malware. I was able to cancel my autorenewal by following the instructions here: https://support.ultrasecureav.com/hc/en-us/articles/30059945704980-How-do-I-cancel-my-subscription?input_string=auto-renewal+cancelation I got a one-time sign-in link, and it was a lot easier than expected after UltraAV tried to get me to pay for their software and then after I uninstalled it the first time wouldn't let me log in to the Kaspersky transfer page on their site without installing it again (which I refused to do, I figured I could always dispute the charge if need be). As for a refund, good luck with that, I didn't have an option for it and Kaspersky has apparently decided to blame its customers for the US government wanting its citizens to not have working security software. Now I have to figure out if there is a viable replacement out there. So far the best I can come up with is BitDefender and that's not what I would call good.
  18. Dear K users I got just now the "email, that I am eligible to get UltraAV". According to what I read, I don't want neither K neither Ultra. I have the same problem as Vadim, I live in Brasil.... So, I'm asking you, what you thisn is the best to do ? 1. uninstall K ? I have only 46 days left. Do you believe that if i do not have K, they still can install ULtra in my PC ? 2. Buy a new antivirus, right now ?
  19. After so many years of Kaspersky boasting about being special because of tests, with tests being probably the core pillar of your marketing, do you have an explanation for why there is not a single test at all for UltraAV? For all that we know, it probably is only 10% effective at detecting common threats. Even Kaspersky itself could have done a test and published the results as a bare minimum, if not with the independent testing labs.
  20. I received the 9/5 email, but it specifically stated- "In the coming days, you will be receiving communications from UltraAV with instructions on how to activate your new account. " There was no follow-on email and like the others, the software simply showed up. I also received a notice from K that my automated renewal had been cancelled, but without any notice or explanation as to why. So, here are the concerns - 1, No follow-on email to advise, in advance, as to what we should expect and by when. 2. My K software is still installed in addition to Ultra AV, what do I do about the K software? 3. Did whatever settings I had with K migrate into Ultra AV or, do I need to start over? 4. Why is Ultra AV not listed in any test forum like K is so that there is an awareness of how robust (or not) it is? K has been consistently ranked a top contender by many 3rd party, independent test companies and even K touts how it has helped identify numerous threats to include some affecting the US government. What has Ultra AV done? I have no interest in their $1 million protection insurance. That is an after-the-fact issue when the damage has already been done. K posted nothing about any vetting or due diligence that had been performed prior to the change. How do we know that the performance and protection suite is as robust, reliable and forward looking with regard to emerging threats as K? While I understand the direction that K was forced to go, a little more transparency and assurances from K about who we are being forced to move to and their expertise in the area, with apparently no alternative nor potential refund opportunity, is simply perceived as a "wash your hands" of the issue without much regard for the customer.
  21. Maybe you missed it Bill. I got a notice on Sept. 5th. Also, this was a US government decision to no longer allow Kaspersky to offer it's services to US customers because of fear that the Russian government could possibly force them to manipulate US customer information. The US government made a decision that is forcing them into this situation. Do a little bit of internet research. Simply look up "kaspersky no longer available to us customers" and you'll find dozens of articles detailing what has occurred. Since your information has to be handed over to UltraAV, you'll likely have to pursue any refund with them. Good luck, their site is getting so much traffic with people trying to get on their forums or simply research who they are that the site is currently down. They didn't violate the TOS. I'm willing to bet dollars-to-donuts that you haven't ever read the full TOS. This was a US government decision that forced this, therefore the company isn't in any violation. You should probably do some research before flaming on the forums. Good luck with that lawsuit though . It's likely due to the fact that everyone is accessing the site, so the server load is suffering through and some systems aren't able to process. It could also be because the migration process is already started and everything is in transition for US customers. It's quite possible you might be SOL until everything transitions and cools down. Means you might have to wait for a couple/few weeks....maybe even a month or two. These migration process and customer server load from accessing sites can take a minute. Approx. 1 million US subscribers have to be migrated, that's a lot of people and a lot of them trying to access websites. I suggest a bit of calm a patience, you'll get there.
  22. I haven't attempted to remove K yet, but I've been trying to cancel my auto renewal subscription. I'm getting nowhere fast. I've tried their Chat, Email and Phone. No phone number, no email form. Just click boxes. So far, UltraAv doesn't seem to be installed. I don't want to try uninstalling K until I can get the auto renewal cancelled. Any suggestions.
  23. This is BS. I don't want UltraAV and what you did violated your own TOS. You wanted to move out of the US but now you're going to have another lawsuit on your hands.
  24. Hi there! Sorry, it's been hectic with this UAV. Malewarebytes has been installed for years, always used in real-time, so yes before UAV. Yes, it runs in the background, meaning it is always active, just like KAV. KAV and Malewarebytes have never had an issue with each other to be more clear when both are running together in the background. It's been a very good combination since the 1990s! I restarted my computer, and while UAV does NOT appear in Windows Uninstall anymore (good), and it does NOT appear in RevoUninstaller either, the UltraAV folder remains on my drive, 700megs of files. I used malewarebytes to scan the computer for any UAV files which were not deleted perhaps by Revouinstaller. and the entire UAV folder, over 1,000 files, is there. I put all the items in quarantine because I am concerned if I take the files out of quarantine maybe the UAV software gets installed again. It's just a guess. I don't know if keeping the files in Malewarebytes quarantine is preventing them from being deleted from Windows. I think there is another issue that is Windows related. I get this error when I right click on the UAV folder to delete it. "you'll need to provide administrator permission to delete this folder" BUT, I'm logged in as the Admin. It's my personal computer, I'm not on network or domain. Only connected to the internet. I'm stuck at this point. I tried a series of steps to correct the folder delete issue in Windows, but it didn't work.
  25. Hello @viper69, Thank you for posting back & the information! (For our understanding) Malwarebytes *is* installed & was installed before UltraAV & was also running alongside Kaspersky but not in real-time - are all those correct please? Thank you? Flood?+?
