32 bit or 64 bit - is it normal to use 140MB? Power usage says very high, is that okay?
rpol replied to rpol's topic in Kaspersky Anti-Virus
Thank you for your quick response. The version is 1903 (OS Build 18362.476) I’ve had in on here for 3 years or so. I can’t remember how it was installed. Steps 2 and 3 sound too complex for me. Thank you for sharing; KIS 2016 Runs as 32 bit on 64 bit Windows 10 I don’t need to read that, I just was asking if that was the reason it ran hot because sometimes thats the problem. I have the Microsoft Windows Defender protection on but it uses no power and no memory, so I was wondering if the stats I gave you were high or if that is just how hot KIS runs. So if there is a way to get it to use less power then please let me know. Otherwise I’ll have to live with it. -

Flood and Flood's wife replied to Lemarque's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hello @Lemarque, KIS patch f is currently being distributed, if (your) KIS is yet to receive the patch, perform a regular shutdown of the computer. There may not be any indication a patch is “waiting”, the patch is applied by shutdowning down and restarting the computer. KIS Release Notes: Patches A – F for version 20.0.14.1085 Vulnerability Report: List of Advisories, issued on 25th November, 2019 Also, KIS 2020 has new software compatibility requirements, it’s worth doing a quick check to ensure there’s no conflicts. Best regards🙏 -
Hi @FLOOD Everything seems to be fine (synched and checked as correctly working). It’s just that one time in which KIS couldn’t even start - clicking on KIS’ icon did nothing at all - that got me quite scared. But if that could have been just a temporary conflict (as a simple reboot did the trick) with windows, well, I can stop freaking out (XD). Thank you very much for the quick answer!

Thank you for the quick replies. Also yes, this is the first time that the report showed “x ignored cloud” . Recently I did a clean installation of windows, formatting my pc, and before I did that KIS never showed me that “ignored cloud” message. It’s actually quite probable that I missed some updates, previously, either from the Windows side or from KIS and that the ignored cloud is just 1drive. I’ll try to ask TS about it and update the result here too. Thank you very much for all the help and the willingness (in answering my questions)

'Facebook New Feature' Scan, Android.
Flood and Flood's wife replied to Safety Seeker's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hello @Safety Seeker, Welcome! Please tell us: (A) Android version? KIS version? Facebook version? Do you have an image of the 'Facebook New Feature' please? Do you have an image of the Kaspersky msg “new app and required the premium version to perform the scan”, please?I’ve checked the KIS Free version, there are no scan limitations, Quick Scan, scans installed apps, including new apps, Full Scan, scans entire device. There is a new Facebook Protect feature, using 2FA🤔(B) My suggestions: Go to Google PlaySore, check your account, select My Apps & games, verify the Facebook application version installed including the last update date & version? Go to Phone Application Manager, check Facebook application, ensure the version information matches that of the Facebook application in Google PlayStore. If the information does not match: Uninstall Facebook application. Reboot phone. Run KIS (manual) Database Update. Run KIS (manual) Full Scan. Download & install Facebook application. Reboot phone. Run KIS (manual) Database Update. Run KIS (manual) Full Scan. Monitor for any issues? Please post back? Thank you -
'Facebook New Feature' Scan, Android.
Safety Seeker replied to Safety Seeker's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
I recently installed Kasperksy Internet Security for my Android mobile phone. I swiped into my phone yesterday, 16th November. It showed a notification of an update for 'Facebook New Feature'. I found this strange as I’d have expected it to just show ‘Facebook’. So I clicked on it to start a scan, but Kaspersky would not scan it and said that it was a new app and required the premium version to perform the scan. Nothing suspicious has happened on my phone since that time. I performed a quick scan, then a full scan later. Both returned no issues. The Application Manager shows Facebook installed, but no ‘Facebook New Feature'. Should I be concerned about this? If so, what should I do? Why would Kaspersky not scan this update/installation? Does Kaspersky scan apps installed on the phone, after the date which Kaspersky was installed? Could this be a database virus update regarding some vulnerability in Facebook? -
Constant warnings for safe programs “attempting to create embedded keys or parameters” [Closed]
Flood and Flood's wife replied to Caspians's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hello @Caspians. Installed 2020 already, you must be a quick “reader”😉 Thank you for the report! What’s interesting is, (for GraphPad Prism 7.03), KIS is not collecting the alerts, other than: to allocate it to the Low Restricted group, and, move it to: Trusted group, presumably after you’ve acknowledged the alerts. I’m going to test some of the apps you’ve mentioned… I’ll post back on this. Also, is KIS licensed? If “yes”, have you raised a case with the Lab? Let me know please? Thank you🙏 ! -
Rootkit Scanning: Has the display in the Red K icon of KIS 20.0.14.1085(d) of Rootkit Scanning been removed/disabled? [Closed]
wgcuser replied to wgcuser's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
@FLOOD Since my last post the ‘new copy’ of KIS 20.0.14.1085 has updated from patch c to patch e. I’ve been turning the PC on at about 09:00 and leaving it on for about 12 hours with the screen saver cutting in after about 4 minutes inactivity. The Detailed Reports show a Quick Scan at the scheduled time of 11:00 and a daily Rootkit Scan at between 14:51 and 15:58. - So I guess this is progress. -

@FLOOD Kind of you to ask. I’m currently just completing a quick scan and database update on the win7 Netbook. No Rk scan - except the one I initiated a few days ago. Later I’ll reset it to the Defaults via the Export/Restore Settings and see how that goes. -
access denied visiting some URL (I own the website)
webdesignername replied to webdesignername's topic in Kaspersky Total Security
Thanks for the quick reply. I already did. It says it's safe but, both on virustotal.com and on my browser (cause I have Kaspersky Installed) it blocks that specific URL -
Allow access to hosts file for one program in Windows 10
Axthorpe replied to Axthorpe's topic in Kaspersky Total Security
Well I added one more “checkbox” in exclusion and got it working :) I checked these three: Do not monitor application activity Do not inherit restrictions from the (application’s) parent process Do not monitor the activity of child applicationsThe boxed that I left out was “inherit parent”, which I don’t really understand. But the beta is working, and it is a beta so I can live with it for now. The reason I asked about giving one program access to one file, was that I had som other AV-software years ago that could do that. But otherwise quite happy with Kaspersky, so keep up the good work. And thank you for quick response here in the forum. 👍 Kind regards Håkan -
I’ve done every thing you suggested currently in the full scan step which on my system takes over 10 hours. In the past have done quick scan rootkit scan every available scans and they never actually detect it. It is always detected at random intervals but not during any scan, problem is it could take 24 hours for a detection to occur. My only comfort is that when Kaspersky detects it it does say it blocked it but never is able to disinfect. Anyway I’m going to follow the steps you laid out and when I get a detection I’ll send ya the reports

Does kaspersky security network worth it.
Jimbaker replied to Jimbaker's topic in Für Privatanwender
Hey everyone, The security network is not a VPN, it is a special security network which allows users to get: additional protection level; applications reputation data; websites reputation data; quick reaction on new threats They do however include a program called Kaspersky secure connection with internet security and total security versions but its run by a sketchy third party (top of my head I think it’s hotspot shield) -
Which to choose: Skip, Delete, or Add to exclusion? [moved] [Closed]
andpata replied to andpata's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hi @FLOOD , it’s been a while. I got sidetracked after reading your last reply, plus it also looked intimidating at the time, but I finally went ahead and did all those steps quite recently. Thanks for showing me how to create the system restore point by the way, I’m probably going to redo all of this because I didn’t save the tabs I had open for Chrome, but with a quick search I found a link showing me how to save recent tabs as a bookmark folder. Anyway, everything went smoothly. The only issue that happened was during the step where you wanted me to delete all the Temps; some temp files could not be deleted because they were supposedly open in Microsoft Office Click-to-Run Service, while others could not be found or were no longer located in Temps. And later, when I tried to delete app data with my user name (same section of your steps), no files appeared. I assume I did it correctly as you wrote. But overall, my computer seems to be running more smoothly! I notice the difference already. Thank you -
How much scheduled scan tasks can be useful when we have real-time protection? [moved] [Closed]
Flood and Flood's wife replied to MREZA's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hello @MREZA, Scans (scheduled or manual) & RTP are different. Real-Time Protection provides anti-virus protection. The component detects and neutralizes threats, adware, and apps that intruders may use to harm your device or exploit your personal data. Full scan Kaspersky scans the device's entire file system. A full scan helps protect your personal data and money, it detects and eliminates threats on your device (in installed apps and installation packages). A full scan also detects adware and apps that intruders may use to harm your device or exploit your personal data. Quick scan Scans installed apps. Vulnerability Scan Scans the operating system and applications installed on the computer that may have vulnerabilities that can be exploited by malware. Rootkit Scan Scans for a program or a set of programs hiding traces of an intruder or malware in the operating system. Thank you -

andpata replied to andpata's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hi,@FLOOD , sorry for these late replies. Busy weekend. I’m not familiar with one of the objects that was detected. It might just be a notification object that I signed up for on a website, which I’m only assuming because the words ‘Community Alerts’ are in the file name. Also it turns out I have KIS, not KAV. As for my comment, basically just know that I have not made a choice about what to do with the two detected objects I initially showed. But after that second, Full Scan I ran, there were additional objects that I quarantined some time before, which are in the exported text file I shared. I did a quick google search and N360_BACKUP is a back-up for Norton 360, which I had several years ago. I do remember making a couple back-ups for it. I don’t think I’ll go back to Norton 360 any time soon though, so I guess I’ll just delete those files. Unless there’s a better option? I have Honey, and more recently Kaspersky Protection for Chrome. I’ve had Honey for a few months and it appears to have recieved an updated a week ago. Kaspersky Protection looks like it was just added very recently? The windows alert was for user verification. It asked me to enter my password and verify the alternate email address associated with it, which I went ahead and did earier today. Was that okay to do so? I very rarely am asked to verify that information (I can’t remember the last time I was prompted to do that) -
Kaspersky Intenet Security does not work on MacOS Catalina 10.15
Menahouse replied to Menahouse's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hello Kaspersky User Grouo, today I installed MacOS Cataline 10.15 on my iMac and it seems to me that my Kaspersky Internet Security does have a problem with it. The problems are the following: Is there any working fix or do I need to wait or what is the best to do now. My Mac is now without security and to wait in this situation is not a good idea. I hope I can get a quick answer here. Thanks in advance! -

Since re-installing Kaspersky Total Security MS Word 2000 no longer runs. Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file.
Clearcomms replied to Clearcomms's topic in Kaspersky Total Security
Thanks for a quick and very sensible reply - if I had been under less pressure this morning, I hope I would have thought of at least one of these suggestions. I've been out - as the simplest of the three questions answer was "If KTS is disabled, does the error happen?" on my return I closed KTS and tried to start Word. Interestingly, although it had been installed a few hours ago, it went through some of the installation again - and then worked. The villain in the piece is obviously Kaspersky - and once KTS was running again, I closed Word and went to restart it. Back came the error message. So something in KTS is causing the problem. There is nothing significant in Kaspersky Reports. I will try closing KTS and restarting Word, to see if once it is opened it will run normally even if KTS is running. But it is a pain ! -

Rootkitscan schedule, how to amend the present every 24 hr scan?
DaffyDuck replied to DeniseM's topic in Kaspersky Total Security
Thank you Berny. You were correct. I got it going after a couple more attempts. The first few times it kept getting interrupted and stopping - I have no idea why. It just seemed very finicky. But I tried again and it worked and went through the end - took all of 26 minutes I have a couple of questions - Where does this scan (launched from the command line) pick up its settings from? It seems to be running with some default values at the moment. For example, How do I enable "iSwift"? Which files does the Rootkit Scan look at? All the objects loaded in memory? I do see that most of the files picked were Windows System, Common and Font files + Program Files that were open and running Does a Quick Scan look at all of the same objects that the Rootkit Scan does? Thank you -
Disable quick access pull-down menu on Android 7.
Flood and Flood's wife replied to squbbles's topic in Kaspersky Safe Kids
Hello squbbles, The Kaspersky escalation team have just advised the issue has been escalated to the Kaspersky developers as a bug. This is a much better status than "suggestion" as it shows Kaspersky have realised, children having access to Quick Access, allows them to disable critical KSK functions, the ramifications being, children may be in a dangerous or precarious situation(s) and cannot be located. No eta atm, but a good result - thank you again squbbles:clap_tone3: -
