Issues with Patch E, Cant start Firefox, Malwarebytes, VirtualBox etc. after KIS 20 Version (e) Update [merged] [Closed]
templar replied to CronoK's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
CronokC, You have just summarised quite closely the problems I have been experiencing, and I’m now wondering if this is what is causing my problems. I use MBAM premium with Kaspersky Internet Security also. About a week ago I found that closing applications would still result in their processes running in the background. For instance, if I closed Steam in the tray, the icon would disappear but the processes would still be running. Any attempt to terminate said processes would be unresponsive, thus preventing any re-launch of the program. I have also had this behaviour happen with Chrome, Firefox, Uplay, Malwarebytes, and even Kaspersky. Only a restart would stop the processes. A few days ago I decided to revert to a system image I made when Windows was cleanly installed and the problem went away. Everything seemed to be working fine until just now where the problem has reoccurred. The only thing I have done today is uninstall Kaspersky 2019 and install Kaspersky 2020. It’s has to be something to do with this. -
Keyboard and Mouse Lag with Windows 10 Pro
MikeJHall replied to MikeJHall's topic in Kaspersky Total Security
I was running Kapersky Total Security on my new PC under Windows 10 Pro version 1903 and was getting terrible keyboard lag where I’d type several words without anything happening and then the whole text would appear on screen at the same time. In addition when scrolling using the mouse wheel the system would stop moving for several seconds before suddenly jumping to catch up wtih where it should have scrolled to. My initial though was that it was a kown problem with my wirless keyboard and mouse but swapping to wired devices had no effect and I could not identify any links to the software I was running at the time, other than Kapersky which was always running. I then disabled Kapersky and reverted to Windows Defendet and the problem was totally cured, at the cost of reducing my systems security. Anyone got any ideas for a cure? Kapersky is still running fine on my two older PCs and a couple of Android devices so I really do not want to give it up but it is unusable on my new PC. -
Rootkit Scanning: Has the display in the Red K icon of KIS 20.0.14.1085(d) of Rootkit Scanning been removed/disabled? [Closed]
wgcuser replied to wgcuser's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
@FLOOD Kind of you to ask. I’m currently just completing a quick scan and database update on the win7 Netbook. No Rk scan - except the one I initiated a few days ago. Later I’ll reset it to the Defaults via the Export/Restore Settings and see how that goes. -

Thanks for the quick reply. I already did. It says it's safe but, both on virustotal.com and on my browser (cause I have Kaspersky Installed) it blocks that specific URL -
Allow access to hosts file for one program in Windows 10
Axthorpe replied to Axthorpe's topic in Kaspersky Total Security
Well I added one more “checkbox” in exclusion and got it working :) I checked these three: Do not monitor application activity Do not inherit restrictions from the (application’s) parent process Do not monitor the activity of child applicationsThe boxed that I left out was “inherit parent”, which I don’t really understand. But the beta is working, and it is a beta so I can live with it for now. The reason I asked about giving one program access to one file, was that I had som other AV-software years ago that could do that. But otherwise quite happy with Kaspersky, so keep up the good work. And thank you for quick response here in the forum. 👍 Kind regards Håkan -
I’ve done every thing you suggested currently in the full scan step which on my system takes over 10 hours. In the past have done quick scan rootkit scan every available scans and they never actually detect it. It is always detected at random intervals but not during any scan, problem is it could take 24 hours for a detection to occur. My only comfort is that when Kaspersky detects it it does say it blocked it but never is able to disinfect. Anyway I’m going to follow the steps you laid out and when I get a detection I’ll send ya the reports

KIS 20 Says Google Chrome is Using my Webcam ... But It's Not [Solved][Closed]
Bukkdog replied to Bukkdog's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Whenever I launch Google Chrome 77, KIS 20 reports that Chrome is using my webcam … but Chrome is not, in fact, using my webcam. Why does KIS 20 do this? Is disabling Webcam Protection the only solution? -
Hello @Woody, As well as the info posted by @richbuff 🙇 Check: (1) Autorun - Launch Kaspersky Total Security at computer startup (recommended) & (2) Restore Settings Wizard After running the Wizard, check all other settings especially the Anti-Banner & Private Browsing. Also, if the Chrome Kaspersky Protection extension is not working correctly, run chrome://settings/reset - Reset & Cleanup, reboot computer, restart, login, don’t start Chrome atm, start KTS, run Database Update, run Full Scan - allow it to complete, start Chrome, recheck? Also, are there a Topic & a Reply (the same) posted by you? Or am I confused? Please let us know? Thank you🙏

Weird Inputs in the Kaspersky Password Manager program
Flood and Flood's wife replied to Edward T. D.'s topic in Kaspersky Password Manager
Hello @Edward T. D., Thank you for replying and the information🙏 . Re: “AV”, I try not to assume everyone has Kaspersky AV software😉 Kaspersky Total Security is up to version 20.0.14.1085(E), are you using 19.0.0.1088 (i) by choice? KTS: are regular scans: Full, Quick, Vulnerability Scans run? KTS: is Delete malicious tools, adware, auto-dialers and suspicious packagers ☑ ‘d? I appreciate the (unicode/ascii/latin) character issue only happens with KPM, however, to fix this please follow these steps: A Create a (Windows) System Restore Point. KPM: Passwords: Export to text file. KPM: Backup Copy: Create a backup. Exit KPM application completely - do not restart atm. Windows, Control Panel, select Region & Languages, select Keyboards & Languages, select Change Keyboards, select Advance Key Settings, highlight Between Input Languages, select Change Key Sequence, Switch Input Language select Not Assigned, Switch Keyboard Layout select Not Assigned, select OK, select Apply, select OK. B C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Temp: delete all files and folders - there may be several files/folders in use, select Skip to the UAC prompt & there may be several files/folders requesting Admin Permission to delete, select OK to the UAC prompt. C:\Windows\Temp: delete all files and folders - there may be several files/folders in use, select Skip to the UAC prompt & there may be several files/folders requesting Admin Permission to delete, select OK to the UAC prompt. Shutdown computer using FULL Shutdown, not Restart. Restart PC. Start KTS, do not log into KPM atm. KTS, run manual Database Update - allow it to complete. KTS, run manual Full Scan - allow it to complete - do not use computer while Full Scan runs. Start and sign into KPM, recheck issue? Please let me know the result? Thank you. -
Weird Inputs in the Kaspersky Password Manager program
Edward T. D. replied to Edward T. D.'s topic in Kaspersky Password Manager
I have been using Kaspersky Password Manager for about a year without many issues. However, recently, there is a very strange bug on my program. When I use the number bar above the QWERTY characters on the keyboard, it types some characters instead of the numbers. If I use Shift, it types the capitalized version of said characters, instead of these characters ! @ # $ %. This issue also happen at the start screen when the program asks me to input my master password also, making it very inconvenient (since I have special characters in my password) and insecure for me to unlock my passwords. This only happen in my Kaspersky Password Manager and no other programs. I can type numbers normally with the numpad. Here’s a photo of what it types when I try to type in 1 2 3 4 with the number bar. -
Secure Keyboard, Windows 7 and KIS2020
mikethebike replied to mikethebike's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Thanks for reply. Good to know there is an archive. As you may have seen, my topic to which I was referring in our correspondence was the last topic in my archived topics called “Enabling The Secure Keyboard in KIS2019 “ At the risk of sounding like a stuck long playing record it is this issue referred to in that topic that remained the same until a few days ago when suddenly the green icon re-appeared on Safe Money sites I may never need to refer to this archived site again but how do I call it up if needed or is this something that I need to request of Community Admin? If you can answer my question in the preceding paragraph then I feel we can close this topic. I will assume that my K protection extension in Chrome is up to date and requires no further action on my part and that there is no answer on why the green icon has fortunately re-appeared If I were to speculate and that is all I can do, it suggests to me that Chrome did something that has corrected the problem and that is as close to an answer as we can ever get to. Thanks mikethebike -
Secure Keyboard, Windows 7 and KIS2020
mikethebike replied to mikethebike's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
We appear to be speaking at cross purposes. Let me clarify that I am now only talking about the lack of the green shield on my Safe Money sites list until a few days ago. It may be that the minuscule keyboard icon was removed by Chrome as far back as version 69. I cannot remember. However this didn’t matter to me as the K green shield was there on the Safe Money sites and it is by clicking onto the green shield, once I have arrived at the Safe Money site, that I have the option of the Secure Keyboard. Once the Green Shield had disappeared as well and it disappeared many months ago, leaving only a grey shield instead I was then required to use the Shift, Crtrl etc buttons to get the Secure Board. I did raise a topic on this many months ago when the green shield icon disappeared and got help from other users who told me of the Shift Crtrl etc buttons to bring up the Secure Keyboard Unfortunately I think all those old topics disappeared when the site was re-configured by K If it is possible to search the archives then we can find the date of my topic on this loss of the Green Shield but assuming there is still an archive I don’t know to access it The Green Shield icon never disappeared from other sites which were not on my Safe Money sites list. Yesterday I used a Safe Money site and the Green Shield had re-appeared. I tested all my list of Safe Money sites and the Green Shield had re-appeared on all of them So I now have easy access to the Secure Keyboard via the green shield options for which I am grateful and as I said yesterday I believe you answered my concerns about losing Safe Money as I have Windows 7 when I get upgraded to KIS2020 so we can now forget about those concerns So my sole question is: Do you know what happened in the last few days to return the Green Shield to the Safe Money sites? As I said, I remain on my current KIS package which is 19.0.0.1088(h) so nothing has changed there Thanks mikethebike -

Hello @mikethebike, Your post seems to be evolving, I’m not clear which issues are current, may I have images of each issue please? Is the (original) issue, that you do not see the tiny keyboard ⌨ in SafeMoney ID & Password fields or in normal Chrome browser fields or something else? Secure Keyboard, Windows 7 and KIS2020
Flood and Flood's wife replied to mikethebike's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hello @mikethebike, Also, according to: Kaspersky Lab (Technical Team), Sent: Wednesday, 23 October 2019 16:58, their advise is: "The virtual keyboard icon is no longer available for Google Chrome of versions 69 onwards. The feature requires script injection (by Kaspersky) which is now restricted in the browser. We have also received news that that Mozilla will be applying similar restriction in Firefox also, resulting in the loss of the virtual keyboard icon as well." May I have some URLs, from sites that do & do not work, I’d like to test please? Please post back? Thank you -
Secure Keyboard, Windows 7 and KIS2020
mikethebike replied to mikethebike's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Sorry to have delayed replying for so long but your very comprehensive reply to what may have been an over-complicated question on my part led to some difficulties in my working out what your answers meant and I decided to leave it for a while The key concern I had was whether an auto upgrade to KIS2020 would give me problems using Safe Money and I believe what you said was NO. In fact KIS 2020 using Windows 7 still gives me full access to Safe Money As part of my explanation I mentioned that I had no green K shield when using any of my listed Safe Money sites and thus could not click on the shield to activate the Secure Keyboard whereas the green shield was present on sites outside of my Safe Money This puzzled you, I think, as I assume this was not normal The green shield should have been there No green shield has remained the situation until today when for whatever reason I went into Safe Money for online banking and the green shield was there. Lack of a green shield has been the situation on all the Safe Money sites for many months and I have made no changes. Have you any idea why suddenly the green shield has returned? This was a separate topic I had raised a long time ago and while I got answers from other users as to how to get the Secure Keyboard such as pressing Shift,Ctrl,Alt and P I never got to the reason why the green shield went missing in the first place So if you have any ideas as to why it has returned I would be interested Many thanks again for the trouble you took to cover my initial questions I think I remain on the same version as before which is KIS 19.0.0. 1088(h) Thanks mikethebike -
Rootkit Scanning: Has the display in the Red K icon of KIS 20.0.14.1085(d) of Rootkit Scanning been removed/disabled? [Closed]
Flood and Flood's wife replied to wgcuser's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hello @wgcuser, Welcome again! If I understand the issue, you switched from Green KIS icon (in the Taskbar) to the Red KIS icon, and now the Red K icon has reverted to Green? If that is the issue, to revert to Red KIS icon, rightclick on the KIS icon (in the Taskbar), select About, with the About popup open, press (on the keyboard) IDDQD, the icon should make the switch. If this is not the problem, please post back and clarify please? Thank you🙏 . -
Hey everyone, The security network is not a VPN, it is a special security network which allows users to get: additional protection level; applications reputation data; websites reputation data; quick reaction on new threats They do however include a program called Kaspersky secure connection with internet security and total security versions but its run by a sketchy third party (top of my head I think it’s hotspot shield)

Which to choose: Skip, Delete, or Add to exclusion? [moved] [Closed]
andpata replied to andpata's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hi @FLOOD , it’s been a while. I got sidetracked after reading your last reply, plus it also looked intimidating at the time, but I finally went ahead and did all those steps quite recently. Thanks for showing me how to create the system restore point by the way, I’m probably going to redo all of this because I didn’t save the tabs I had open for Chrome, but with a quick search I found a link showing me how to save recent tabs as a bookmark folder. Anyway, everything went smoothly. The only issue that happened was during the step where you wanted me to delete all the Temps; some temp files could not be deleted because they were supposedly open in Microsoft Office Click-to-Run Service, while others could not be found or were no longer located in Temps. And later, when I tried to delete app data with my user name (same section of your steps), no files appeared. I assume I did it correctly as you wrote. But overall, my computer seems to be running more smoothly! I notice the difference already. Thank you -
Hi Guys I found an useful Text in Kaspersky KL002 Student Guide. Page: 153 How does Kaspersky Endpoint Security learn which files have been changed and which have not? The NTFS file system (and its successor ReFS) logs when files are changed, and guarantees integrity of these records. Therefore, on NTFS drives, Kaspersky Endpoint Security simply checks the file modification date. FAT32 file system cannot log the modification date; neither can it protect the modification date against unsolicited changes. Malware may modify a file, and then assign any modification date to it. For this reason, Kaspersky Endpoint Security saves checksums of scanned files into a special database for FAT32 drives. When the file is accessed next time, Kaspersky Endpoint Security re-calculates the checksum and compares it with that saved. If the sums differ, the file has been changed, and File Threat Protection scans it. Scanning new files only once is dangerous. If malware gets on the computer before Kaspersky Endpoint Security receives its signatures, File Threat Protection will scan it, consider to be clean, and will not scan at the next start. and this one in page: 160 Starting with Kaspersky Security Center version eleven, the Quick Start Wizard does not create a Quick Virus Scan task anymore. By default, computers are scanned for viruses by a special local Background scan task. Background scanning is less resource-intensive when compared with an ordinary virus scan task. It is performed while the computer is locked, does not display any notifications to the use; however, it does not reset the Not scanned for a long time status either. You cannot modify scan settings or scope of this task. -
How much scheduled scan tasks can be useful when we have real-time protection? [moved] [Closed]
Flood and Flood's wife replied to a topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hello @MREZA, Scans (scheduled or manual) & RTP are different. Real-Time Protection provides anti-virus protection. The component detects and neutralizes threats, adware, and apps that intruders may use to harm your device or exploit your personal data. Full scan Kaspersky scans the device's entire file system. A full scan helps protect your personal data and money, it detects and eliminates threats on your device (in installed apps and installation packages). A full scan also detects adware and apps that intruders may use to harm your device or exploit your personal data. Quick scan Scans installed apps. Vulnerability Scan Scans the operating system and applications installed on the computer that may have vulnerabilities that can be exploited by malware. Rootkit Scan Scans for a program or a set of programs hiding traces of an intruder or malware in the operating system. Thank you -

Hello @MaxPayne9101, Welcome! Does Chrome show as Default browser ? If not, go to Settings, Application Manager, select Chrome, scroll to LAUNCH BY DEFAULT, select Clear defaults then return to KISA, either check the browser is now Chrome or go through the steps again to configure Chrome. After setting Chrome (I personally) do not access Chrome via KISA, Internet Protection, bc, the browser opens with a redirect to Kaspersky main (advertising) page. Also, check Chrome version: Thank you. -
Hello, Thanks for your reply. >Did you use USB3 or USB2 flash drive? Did you try to write KRD on different USD Flash Drives and >try to load it on this computer? I did try it with an old USB2 and a CD-RW. >Did you use fresh Gentoo live cd? I did use Hybrid ISO (https://bouncer.gentoo.org/fetch/gentoo-20160704-livedvd/amd64/) LiveDVD but i created the image onto a USB Stick with Rufus. Worked fine, and the strange thing is, looks like its a Version of 2016. Means i did use the Live-DVD like an normal OS. >Debian without nonfree-firmware hangs on boot too or has other problems? Yes, hangs on boot similar behavior just with a different error, there was just one line “[2.332949] failed to find cpu0 device node” >Do you use BIOS RAID feature? No, 1 SSD, 1 HD but no Raid feature enabled. The settings of the screenshots were default execpt the XHCI Handoff, i changed it but same error. I also did try to change the Legacy Mode with the result that i had to reset the BIOS to default (cause he didn’t detect my Keyboard anymore). Kind regards bern

Which to choose: Skip, Delete, or Add to exclusion? [moved] [Closed]
andpata replied to andpata's topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hi,@FLOOD , sorry for these late replies. Busy weekend. I’m not familiar with one of the objects that was detected. It might just be a notification object that I signed up for on a website, which I’m only assuming because the words ‘Community Alerts’ are in the file name. Also it turns out I have KIS, not KAV. As for my comment, basically just know that I have not made a choice about what to do with the two detected objects I initially showed. But after that second, Full Scan I ran, there were additional objects that I quarantined some time before, which are in the exported text file I shared. I did a quick google search and N360_BACKUP is a back-up for Norton 360, which I had several years ago. I do remember making a couple back-ups for it. I don’t think I’ll go back to Norton 360 any time soon though, so I guess I’ll just delete those files. Unless there’s a better option? I have Honey, and more recently Kaspersky Protection for Chrome. I’ve had Honey for a few months and it appears to have recieved an updated a week ago. Kaspersky Protection looks like it was just added very recently? The windows alert was for user verification. It asked me to enter my password and verify the alternate email address associated with it, which I went ahead and did earier today. Was that okay to do so? I very rarely am asked to verify that information (I can’t remember the last time I was prompted to do that)
