  1. Thanks PDWK. Honestly my first exposure to this issue was VSS failure. I was making careful notes when I discovered this (your) excellent post in relation to CatRoot and DriverStore. I’ve shared my notes below for anyone to read. They start nice and clean and slowly get messy as I learn more. I’ll clean it up once things settle. I have a suspicion this issue came up when the KART application version automatically upgraded to 3.0.1.3660. I say this because I have compared application versions of working and dead machines. I’ve got screen shots in my messy notes to exemplify. The Product Version of anti_ransom_gui.exe is helpful to query on dead machines. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gDzDaWPk4s8L2eqP6qERVojFXUtevCaca2G7SmO0wK8/edit Regarding reaching out to Kaspersky Support, I am struggling to find a Support URL for the Free KART, but I’ll keep looking. I’d bet the non-free KART has this same issue so I might try that. It’s kinda sad Kaspersky has said nothing here. Hey Kaspersky, who cares if we are dealing with a free product? It’s possibly implicated in wacking computers. These free KART customers of mine and now afraid of Kaspersky. If the purpose of your free software is to transform them into paying customers, you had better act quick if you want to save mine.
  2. Hello @Corapntr, Welcome! May we know your country/location so we can check what you actually purchased? Post an image of the information that has “mislead” you please? The newegg merchant site is not a Kaspersky site. If a non-authorised merchant has mislead you, that’s outside of Kaspersky’s control. If you actually purchased Kaspersky Anti-Virus, it does not cover mobile devices → see image 1, KIS, KTS & Kaspersky Security Cloud are the products that can be installed on multiple operating systems → image 2. 4. @kyros15 Welcome. Did you check your Quick Scan Settings as well ?
  5. Just a note, KIS will not load and cannot be installed on MacOS 11.0 Big Sur. I recently became a beta tester and the current beta will not allow KIS to load, nor can you reinstall it. It will not even allow the installer to launch.
  6. Hi @Flood and Flood's wife , Thank you for your quick reply. I have the Anti-Virus version, assuming that those detailed settings are not available (I just checked to make sure). Image attached is the kind of spam I tend to get “above the clock” bottom right. Thanks.

    KTS Uninstalled by malware

I’ve been using KTS for a while now, and today i noticed that the icon was no longer in my taskbar. This was weird. I went to launch KTS from the Start menu but it popped up a message saying the shortcut was not found. I checked in the Program Files/Kaspersky Lab/Kaspersky Total Security 20.0 and all of the files inside of the directory had been deleted. Very strange. I then noticed that my Windows Security icon was also missing from my taskbar. When i went into ‘Windows Security’ - it was blank. There were no icons for Defender, Firewall etc. Nothing. The entire thing had been disabled. I then downloaded KTS and installed it - but it was unable to run. I assume the malware that had infected my system was preventing it from running. I then downloaded Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool and ran a scan. It picked up 2 results: Trojan.Multi.GenAutorunReg.a Backdoor.Win32.Agent.mytobxThankfully, it was able to remove both of these. However, to be sure, i formatted the entire drive, reinstalled a fresh Windows 10 and now have KTS up and working again. I’m very disappointed that KTS failed to protect my system, allowed malware to infect my system, and to then delete KTS itself. KTS is meant to have measures in place to stop this from happening. All features in my KTS were turned on. It was up to date and set to auto-update frequently.
  8. Hello, I can’t launch the KVRT. It block at 35% with the Error message : “Can’t initialize dump writer”. Before, the tool works nice, no problem. I tried old version, same message. I deleted all files about KVRT (C:/KVRT_Data) but no improvement. It seems be on my computer, may be a corrupted DLL but the tool do not send any information about the error. I found nothing about my problem on any plateform (here included). Some one can help me ? Regards, Ju’
  9. I’m not seeing that increase in CPU usage here after running Quick Scan and Vulnerability Scan both with their subsequent banner and action center entries. My desktop PC has a Ryzen 5 2600 CPU and the current CPU usage for both avp.exe and avpui.exe is 0%. If you add the “CPU Time” column in Task Manager, total avp.exe usage is 15m49s and avpui.exe is 1m39s whereas System Idle Process is 62hr15m00s approx (keep in mind that each real time second is 12 CPU Time seconds as the CPU is of the 6 cores / 12 threads kind).

How to block USB and URL

Hello, block USB ports -- How do you set keyboard and mouse in system? only using blueteech? You can use bios to block usb port in “Disable usb support” settings. Block all URL -- create a firewall rule to block all network traffic and move it to the top of the rule list. create a firewall rule to allow 3 site to pass over the firewall and move it to the top of the rule list again. Please pay attation about that you should allow DNS request to pass over the firewall. otherwise, You can not access internet any more. Please see this topic to let you know what I said. Regards.
  11. Hello @Berny and @Wesly.Zhang , Thanks for your quick answers but unfortunately, yes I tested it. But it does not work for me. The reason is because this is checked : Yes, Kaspersky does request users if they want to allow or forbid the webcam access, but even if they allow it (clicked on “Allow Now”), Kaspersky still denies the webcam access because we told it to forbid all webcam access for any application. Either this is a bug, or it was not designed like this but currently, there is no way to “forbid the webcam access by default except for the one instance we decided to allow”. And going through every application and specifying for each one we need to request user or to prevent webcam access, and for new applications, allows it by default, is not a solution. Because I’m a developer, making new applications is what I do. Therefore, I have 2000 to 5000 applications on my workstation (lot of them are custom made executables), and going through them one by one is such a hassle. Besides, if I create a new one and forget to disable webcam access, I think any hacker could just find a way to impersonate this new application, or inserting some evil code inside, to get a completely free pass to access my webcam. Anyway, even for a normal user, they could have many applications to go through. Therefore, my feature request (or bug fixing) still stands. Currently, Kaspersky : “Allows any webcam access (it warns user if one accesses it, or ask user the first time if the application was not made into the thrusted group, but this is not enough) and in case the specific application settings is set to request user, then it requests every time before allowing”. Or “Forbid any webcam access”. But what we need is to : “Forbid any webcam access unless user allowed it explicitly for the current application instance”. Regards,
  12. Hi Inet I have found only one other mention of this problem on a Polish news site. I have tried to msg the authoer and tried to post a comment asking for info or asking about Kaspersky. No response so far. Link: https://www.dobreprogramy.pl/Microsoft-sa-problemy-z-marcowa-aktualizacja-Windows-10.-Nasz-czytelnik-tez-ucierpial,News,113843.html It is mentioned in the last paragraphs of the news article. As for the *.cat solution, I found this article that lead me to that discovery: https://rquintino.wordpress.com/2017/05/11/recovering-from-windows-10-boot-blue-screen-critical-service-failed-disable-drivers-signature-enforcement-unsigned-drivers/ and https://rquintino.wordpress.com/2017/05/19/disk-cleanup-and-windows-10-boot-blue-screen-critical-service-failed-disable-drivers-signature-enforcement-unsigned-drivers/ Extra note. That first news article mentions that System Restore gives an error. This was true for us too. It can be fixed with a quick regedit and a restart. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71a27cdd-812a-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f} UpperFilters REG_MULTI_SZ volsnap I found this cause and solution was related to another Kaspersky product. https://www.reddit.com/r/GoroHome/comments/c9i6rl/kaspersky_removal_tool_kavremover_chkdsk_volume/ To answer some of your questions. We have removed KART on all our PCs for now. Our process involves installing KART4 and letting it auto update itself to 5. You cannot stop the auto-update so there is no way to stop at any specific version. So we completely removed it to be safe. I agree about the Windows Update needing a reboot and then users noticed the problem and thus blame the update.
  13. Thank You for quick response. It should be reverted: It should be “I want more” button on block mode - as it is on Windows. Warn mode is only warning - so “I want more” button is not necessary there - my opinion. Davor
  14. Windows 10 x64 Version 20H2 Build 19042.867 Kaspersky Internet Security v21.3.10.391 This is only a minor annoyance, but since I moved to the very latest KIS v21.3.10.391 I get Windows 10 notifications - both banner and action center - announcing scan completion for things like quick scan and vulnerability scan which seem (?) to be impossible to turn off without turning off ALL Kaspersky notifications. This has only started with the latest KIS version as above. I’ve attached a few screenshots, including one of the “Informational” notification section of KIS settings and I think I have turned off all potential causes of these notifications? It does seem to be a small bug introduced into the latest version of KIS (or maybe Windows 10!). Many thanks in advance for any advice that can be given here.
  15. Hello @Flood and Flood's wife Thank you very much for your quick response. Operating system: Windows 10 Pro Version: 20H2 Operating system build: 19042.867 Kaspersky Internet Security 21.3.10.391 Please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks a lot for your help. Best regards Branislav
  16. Hi, Kaspersky Internet security disappeared from my Win10 PC, I've tried to reinstall it in administrator mode, the files are there, but it does not launch anymore. If anyone has a solution, I'm interested… Thank you
  17. Hi, I’ve added again a MAC to our MAC-clients group and manually installed on it latest NetAgent and KES for MAC. KSC isn’t able to reach the MAC, ping from server to MAC works fine but if I launch a task there is a wrong hostname resolution to a different IP address. MAC is remotely connected to the VPN and KSC resolve the hostname to a different IP related to the office network. I deleted and updated host’s DNS entries and ping or tracert from server or KSC custom tools are working fine but the problem remains. I can’t see MAC status and every task fails. KSC 11.0.0.11.31 patch B NetAgent 12.0.0.35 KES 11.0.1.753

Can security cloud schedule quick/full scans?

Hey, can security cloud free schedule quick/full scans? I found an older thread but can’t seem to find the option in the app itself.
  19. This happens on any browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge), if you have the Kaspersky Password Manager enabled (even if you didn’t authenticate yet), it will be impossible to navigate any website related to the Unreal Engine or Epic, eg.: https://www.unrealengine.com https://forums.unrealengine.com/ because the scrollbar will disappear and you will be unable to scroll using the mouse wheel or the keyboard. If you completely disabled KPM on a browser then you will be able to navigate those websites as expected.
  20. Hello , sorry for delay. The issue was apparently linked to an issue with Windows 10 start. Usually it took long to have Windows starting when using laptop. But , I guess after an update , the start was very quick and Kaspersky issue disappeared.
  21. The browser extension isn’t involved in login detection/e-mail breach at all. That and all other aspects of browser protection are handled solely by the Security Cloud app. The extension (in Security Cloud Free) just adds the keyboard. If not installed everything else is the same. Also as mentioned and maybe Kaspersky can clarify directly, but it’s possible that certain elements can’t be fully disabled in the free version; similar to the Promotional material tick boxes in the notification section that while you can untick them they only disable popups in the Personal and Family licensed versions.
  22. I had and still have the account check enabled, but after I had asked Security Cloud to ignore the specific website breach warning I have not received any further prompts. If I did they would be in relation only to a newly discovered breach. I think within the free version there are limits as to what can be deactivated (a bit like the occasional popups). So you’re aware all Kaspersky browsing protection including login detection is handled centrally by the main Security Cloud app. When using Security Cloud Free the browser extension functions purely as access to the on-screen keyboard. If the extension is not installed Security Cloud is still monitoring all web activity including log in entries.

    Feature request.

Hi and thanks for the quick answer. I do receive emails, but never received a push notification. Push notifications are enabled on my app. My daughter uses a Xiaomi phone and a Huawei tablet (without Google services). My phone is a Pixel 5 (Android 11). Also, I checked my daughter's screen when her time finished and there was no “request more time” button, just something about complaining to the developers.
  24. Hi @Flood and Flood's wife , thank you so very much for responding. Dreadful would be an understatement, really. Yes, I have done a quick check on installed apps incompatible with the Kaspersky product and I don’t have any of those on my Mac. My MacOS version is the 11.0 Big Sur and it meets all Kaspersky system requirements. I’m incredibly frustrated, I can only hope the technical support gets back to me in time.
