Environment/Preconditions KSC - 12 KSWS - 11.0.1.897 You may find a massive increase in disk usage from the folder report under the Kaspersky folder. The size of the report folder will increase from around 2GB to 12GB, the files in the report folder have random name (like 340a13d9-2a50-4c4e-94d6-82a79d80da4b), which rapidly grows and consumes disk space. The file can be deleted to resolve the disk space full issue, which itself can cause many issues (can't log in to the server, KSWS stop, etc) To delete the file: Stop KSWS. Add permission/owner for the login account. Right-click and delete file. This issue is caused by the Task log setting under Log and Notification tab in the KSWS policy. To avoid the detailed events issue: Ensure that there are no Informational events in the Importance level option in each Component. Remove task logs older than (days) is selected. In case you do the above step and the random file is still keep growing rapidly (100 MB per hour), it may be causes by the flooding event. You can check the event flooding by using product local console. Install and launch KSWS tools and under Logs and Notifications node observe Task logs, System audit log and Security log in local UI. Check which event is generated in excessive amounts.

Kaspersky Installation Disabled All USB Input Devices – Cannot Log In to Windows
hega333 posted a topic in Kaspersky Total Security
After installing Kaspersky, all USB input devices (keyboard & mouse) stopped working immediately after booting into Windows. Windows itself boots fine, but since no input devices work, I cannot log in. The issue started after attempting to install Kaspersky. During installation, it gave a message stating that Avira was still installed, even though it had been removed two years ago. I manually checked the registry and deleted two Avira-related entries, but one entry could not be removed. I continued with the Kaspersky installation anyway, and then both of my monitors went gray, and several DLL errors appeared. After restarting the PC, USB devices stopped working completely in Windows, even though they still work in BIOS and in the Windows Recovery menu. Steps Already Attempted (None Worked): 1. BIOS & Hardware Checks: - Keyboard and mouse work in BIOS, so this is not a hardware issue. - Legacy USB Support is already enabled in BIOS, so USB ports are not blocked at the motherboard level. - Tried multiple USB ports (front, back, USB 2.0, USB 3.0), but none work in Windows. - No PS/2 ports available, so that option is ruled out. 2. Windows Recovery & Safe Mode Attempts: - Booted into Advanced Startup (Recovery Mode), and USB devices work there. - Booted into Safe Mode (F4), but USB devices do not work. - Booted into Safe Mode with Networking (F5), but USB devices do not work. - Booted into Safe Mode with Command Prompt (F6), but USB devices do not work. - Attempted “Startup Repair” in Recovery Mode, but it did nothing. - Tried “Reset This PC” with “Keep My Files,” but it failed with the error “Could not reset this PC, no changes were made.” 3. Kaspersky Removal Attempts (Failed Due to No Input): - Tried opening Command Prompt in Safe Mode to uninstall Kaspersky, but no input devices work, so I couldn’t type commands. - Manually checked Kaspersky’s installation folders using Command Prompt in Recovery Mode: - C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab does not exist. - C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab does not exist. - Manually checked Windows registry for Kaspersky-related services (klflt, klkbdflt, klmouflt, avp, etc.), but none were found. 4. USB Driver Repair Attempts (Did Not Work): - Tried enabling USB drivers manually via Registry in Command Prompt: reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBHUB3" /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbhub" /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbxhci" /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbehci" /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR" /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f None of these commands fixed the issue. - Tried forcing USB driver reinstallation using DISM & pnputil in Command Prompt, but it did nothing. - Checked disk partitions (diskpart) to confirm Windows installation drive was correct, but there was confusion with the drive letters (C: and X: were mismatched). Current Situation: - Windows still boots fine, but I cannot log in because keyboard and mouse do not work. - Recovery Mode recognizes USB, but Safe Mode and normal Windows do not. - Kaspersky is not listed in Program Files, ProgramData, or the registry, but the issue clearly started right after installing Kaspersky. - Resetting Windows fails, so I cannot even attempt a repair install from inside Windows. --- What I Need from Support: - How to fully remove Kaspersky (including any hidden services) without being able to log in. - How to manually enable USB drivers from Recovery Mode. - How to fix the "Reset This PC" failure in case a repair install is required. -
While removing Kaspersky Security for Windows Server Console removal log may contain a message: Error 1336. There was an error creating a temporary file that is needed to complete this installation. Folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Security for Windows Server\. System error code: 5 And if you launch removal process using an appwiz.cpl a popup will be displayed stating : “There was an error creating a temporary file that is needed to completed this installation” This may happen because KES is installed in the system, so far the workaround is the following: Disable self-defense in KES and perform removal one more time.

RDP connection invoked via KSC console uses hostname to connect to a host - mstsc.exe is invoked with /v hostname parameter. Edit command line used to invoke mstsc.exe with ip address parameter instead of the hostname: Open Custom tools → Configure custom tools Select Remote Desktop, click Modify Edit Command line text box, it should contain <host_ip> instead of <A>: /v:<host_ip>:<P> /f Disable Create tunnel for TCP port specified below checkbox Administration Console will now launch mstsc.exe with ip address as argument.

Security administrator can create KSWS Application Control rules based on Digital Certificate. What does product actually checks and how it is related to the file itself? First of all, product checks whether the file matches certificate. Secondly, whether certificate is valid. If any of verifications fail - launch of the file will be denied. And vice versa. If signed file which execution was allowed by certificate has been modified, will execution of the file be allowed? Altering the file signed by the certificate will cause its certificate to no longer confirm the integrity of this file. As a result "Allowing" rule will no longer be applied to the file. How the control of the revoked certificates operates, if such a control exist? Certificates revocation in the operation system is implemented through OS updates. When a certificate becomes revoked, it can no longer pass validation checks. Thus file execution will be blocked. When both the subject of the certificate and its thumbprint verifications are selected, then product checks that the file is signed by an exact "version" of certificate. In other words, it will not be enough to make a self-signed certificate with the Subject field equal to "Redmont, Microsoft" - such a certificate does not coincide with the real thumbprint of Microsoft.

You can set and run PLC Project Integrity Check task in KICS4Nodes console. But it is not clear how to add PLC projects into the task settings in the KSC Console. Before PLC Project Integrity Check task setting the PLC Project Investigation task should be successfully executed. Step-by-step guide Go to the KICS4Nodes policy -> Properties -> Logs and Notifications -> Interaction with Administration Server | Settings. Enable Versions of PLC projects option (disabled by default). Lock the padlock. Save and apply the policy. (Data of investigated PLC projects will be transferred to the KCS as Network lists). Go to the Properties of the target host, which will have PLC project checker role. Go to Tasks section-> Select "PLC Project Integrity Check" task -> Properties -> Settings section Click the ADD button -> You will see the list of PLC projects, which were collected by the PLC Project Investigation task. Check the projects that you want to check. Add them to the list. Enable checkbox of the PLC configurations. Apply task properties. Run the task. PLC Project Integrity Check task does not start automatically after the application reboot. You should set the schedule in the task properties. We recommend to run task by schedule at the application launch.

previous application launch failed

When administrator attempts to establish a connection between KS4O365 workspace and their Exchange online organization by doing the following in the administration console: Office 365 connection → Exchange Online connection → Grant Access → passes the consent validation algorithm but in the end gets the Error processing the request error: This error is usually triggered by the browser settings on the client host that is performing the consent validation. Upon executing consent validation algorithm we get the access token from Microsoft. Then we redirect browser to our web site's URL and attach access token as a cookie. Upon redirecting, cookie with access token is lost/blocked somehow, usually this is caused by one of the following reasons: Browser filters cookies on its own. For instance due to some extensions, browser settings, or due to some beta version of browser with paranoid default security settings. Some 3rd party program, for example a file anti-virus, is blocking access to the file with the browser's cookies on the local hard drive. Thus, the following action plan is suggested. Step-by-step guide Clear all history, cache and cookie in the web-browser, restart it and check the reproduction. If it doesn’t help, then please make sure that the same error occurs if you try to do the same operation in another web-browser supported by the product (https://support.kaspersky.com/KS4MO365/1.2/en-US/141858.htm) or in incognito mode of the browser. Also, temporarily disabling anti-malware solutions or any 3-rd party products that might be blocking/locking/inspecting browser's cookie files is called for. If the issue will persist, then please do the following: 1. Open Google Chrome web-browser. 2. Press F12 keyboard button. 3. Enable Preserve log option in Network tab. 4. Reproduce the whole scenario from the begging (log into business hub account) and the issue itself. 5. Make an error screenshot with time stamp. 6. Export Network debugging results to HAR-file. 7. Provide HAR-file + screenshot to the Kaspersky Support. Also we will be interested in the URL that will be shown when the error will pop-up in the browser.

DANIX posted a topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
I would like some help with this message that keeps popping up every time I start my computer, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software three times and it always reappears, the message says "The previous startup of the application failed" and a report has to be sent , I already sent the report that the message asks for but even so it reappears, I wanted support for this and in the application settings there is no function that disables sending data, and at the time of installation I unchecked the option sending data to report, I request clarification on the matter... -

OS hangs caused by excessive use of file descriptors [KES for Linux]
svc_kms posted a blog entry in Kaspersky Endpoint Security's Kaspersky Endpoint Security
Symptoms OS hang, sometimes with open file errors in journals Customer application degrades with errors "unable to open file", "too many open files" Hangs and third-party (compatibility) issues often require advanced data collection and are sophisticated to investigate. However, a quick check is possible: On a system where KESL has worked for some time (not immediately after reboot/restart), validate the output of the following command, ran as root, for numerous records of /usr/bin or /usr/sbin folders lsof | grep -E 'kesl.+DIR.+\/usr\/s?bin' Root Cause Under heavy load, KESL may display linear increase in file descriptors usage (sysctl - fs.file-nr) up to system-wide limit (sysctl - fs.file-max) and eventually degradation. Workaround Schedule restart of KESL service every week/day, depending on intensity of descriptors growth. NB: KESL restart will also reset progress of certain tasks like "malware scan" and "database update". Schedule KESL restart outside of tasks timeframes. Solution This issue was fixed in KESL 12.1.0.1274, so an update to that or newer version should fix it. -
How to Configure Kaspersky Internet Security Safe Browsing for Beginners?
davidjames78 posted a topic in Kaspersky Internet Security
Hi Kaspersky Community, I’m new to Kaspersky Internet Security and want to set up Safe Browsing to protect my online activity (~5-10 websites daily). I’m struggling with the setup. Setup: Kaspersky Internet Security 21.3, Windows 10, Chrome browser. Steps Tried: Enabled Safe Browsing in KIS settings; some websites are blocked unexpectedly. Added a trusted site to exclusions; still getting “untrusted certificate” errors. Ran a quick scan; no threats found. Questions: What’s the best way to configure Safe Browsing for secure internet use? How do I fix “untrusted certificate” errors for specific websites? Any tips for optimizing Safe Browsing on Chrome? Thanks for your guidance! -
Wow, what this little exe put me through with Kaspersky. So I reinstalled Kaspersky premium, instantly it detects keyboard locker as malware again. Mind you I've been using it every day when gaming or cleaning touchpad and keyboard, with Avira I was testing. And a complete FULL scan with Kaspersky finds only one malware, this little 200kb exe. Once it's deleted, another full, hour long complete system scan is clean. So again, if it was malware, it would have been infecting system for those last two weeks I used it when Kaspersky wasn't installed. It would have done SOMETHING malicious to my system. But as long as that little exe is not on my system, a full 1 hour scan finds zero malware anywhere. THAT'S how I always knew it was safe, before I even finally managed to get real proof (below). Remember, this all started over 2 weeks back, so it's been a very ridiculous process. I have every right to legitimately complain, and I am going to write a letter to Kaspersky support about it and express my disappointment and wasting hours of my time over this. Allow me to explain why. I followed all the instructions here in this forum: I booted in safe mode and it easily allowed me to access the exe file. Oh by the way, before I go on, I thought you might be interested in virustotal results: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/d4c104c17449e5eded7520d6c77f4dce1df933bd514ad65b515516aad3fc6829?nocache=1 Let that sink in. Do you know I have never seen any so called malware before, ever, where only one engine has detected it? If it's a false positive, it's always at least 2 or 3 or 4, but when even Mcafee and Norton say it's clean, you really know something is wrong LOL. So much for Kaspersky having the lowest false positives in recent av comparatives April test. And Avira having so much higher. LOL I ran Avira for 2 weeks straight, 24/7, and not a single false positive whatsoever. But I digress. I want people to understand what I went through to get this exe to submit it for reanalysis. OK So I booted in safe mode and copied it. As soon as I rebooted back into normal mode, I right clicked and disabled Kaspersky for 5 hours, of course I was going to manually re enable protection when I had submitted the file, but this is why something like Malwarebytes becomes so useful when you need to disable an AV. You see, disabling Kaspersky means your system is open to everything, as defender does not come back on, and not even if you right click the icon and exit Kaspersky (more on that later). I use Malwarebytes VPN and have a 2 year plus subscription for 5 devices because I use it on my mac and my iPhone, and I have it on the PC for second opinion scans like SO many others do., But because I am a paid user of it, when I need to disable an AV, with one click I can enable all real time protections of Malwarebytes so I am NOT NAKED to the internet, so to speak. Anyway, K was disabled, yet one minute into it, somehow it detected it and deleted it. Same as always, just two options, disinfect or disinfect without restart. It NEVER puts it into quarantine so I can restore it and add an exception, and if I reinstall it, Windows gives it a different install folder number which it does every time you uninstall and re install any windows store app. So this was impossible to make an exception for. It gets better. I had to go all the way and actually tell Kaspersky NOT to start with windows, and then I went back into safe mode, re copied the exe file to a place I had user access, re started and it was gone when the computer booted back into normal windows. So Kaspersky must have some kind of boot time protection. So I had no option but to uninstall Kaspersky, leave it uninstalled whilst I submitted the file to virus total and the false detection form and just re installed. Weeks of hell for one app. As to why I don't use the one other similar alternative app out there, it's incredibly slow, and has made an error before and locked my entire computer and I had to force shut down with power button. The windows store app is lightning fast and just works and always has. So that's why, before anyone asks. To me, Kaspersky behaved worse than any malware I have personally encountered. The real problem is the disinfection pop up that gave me no option to add it as an exception, no matter what I tried. It does make one think, and before anyone thinks I am whining, just remember I've spent about 10 hours of real time on this, submitting reports, testing other AVs, and so on. Kaspersky should not have behaved this way and given me an easy option to exclude it, like every other, I mean EVERY other AV I tested. How did I test the other AV's (I made a complete list of the ones I fully tested, about 17 of them, the ones that had 100% functional trials, but that's another storey for another time), well I used Eicar files. All of them bar Kaspersky allow simple restore from quarantine. ALL of them. Kaspersky just deletes. The thing is, if it's actually something like an info stealer or ransomware, of course I want kaspersky to delete it, but just for my own info, is there ANY setting, something in Kaspersky that could have saved me from this fresh hell with this innocent little file? TIA as always and sorry for my rant, now I can chill, K finally has the exe and I am sure before long I'll be able to use the app again. Cheers

Virus Scan has not been performed for a long time [KES for Windows]
svc_kms posted a blog entry in Kaspersky Endpoint Security's Kaspersky Endpoint Security
This article describes what is considered a Full Scan, which affects the KSC status "Virus Scan has not been performed for a long time". Scan task area settings There are two ways to set areas for a Scan task. Tasks started with any other settings (including Quick Scan and Critical Area Scan with default settings) will not be considered as a Full Scan. Primary Kernel Memory Running processes and Startup Objects Disk boot sectors Local disk (logical disk where OS is installed) Alternative Kernel Memory Running processes and Startup Objects Disk boot sectors %systemroot%\ %systemroot%\System\ %systemroot%\System32\ %systemroot%\System32\drivers\ %systemroot%\SysWOW64\ %systemroot%\SysWOW64\drivers\ Path is Case-Sensitive in order to support upcoming Windows features. Hello guys, Currently i am running Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 22H2 Build SO: 19045 with latest Microsoft Windows 10 updates. I was using Kaspersky Cloud Free as my antivirus. Yesterday i received an update for my anti-virus for the newest Version 21.9.6.465. I cannot open On-Screen Keyboard even if i press the shortcut keys CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+P. I also uninstall the antivirus completely and remove all leftovers. I also Uninstall only one of my web browsers Mozilla Firefox I downloaded the latest version available on the global website from Kaspersky and from My Kaspersky (Downloads). The version is the right one for European countries. If you remember well i already faced this problem in the past. But on that time Seem's there isn't any version available for European countries, so the resolution was removing completely Kaspersky free from my system and install the Kaspersky Security Cloud Free. I think I will make the same when you find a solution, please tell me OK! I did a Microsoft Windows Clean install on March 30, 2023. I am running out of ideas to fix the problem! I use Home Banking a Lot i need my On-Screen Keyboard to put the Password instead of Physical Keyboard. I think it's safer! But if nothing of this works in either Browser I will be forced to downgrade. But i also think that sooner or later my anti-virus will want to make the upgrade happen again. So, what can i do to avoid that? Thank you very much for the time that you will spend to try to find a solution. Best Regards. Hugop.

Kaspersky needs to support better Windows Apps and Windows Store Programs
Bav replied to iJohnnyCash's topic in Kaspersky Security Cloud
I never ignore anything, I was only replying to that other member with the pic and explaining why I couldn't access the folder in normal mode, which they were giving me as an alternative to safe mode (clearly, as they crossed the word safe mode out). I can not access networking in safe mode regardless, even if I enable safe mode with networking. It's been a problem for me since I have this laptop, and I have reinstalled a fresh OS multiple times and I can't get it to work. Maybe ethernet would work, but wi-fi does not, and there is no ethernet in this house, anywhere. Not a single port. Please don't accuse me of ignoring when I never ignored you, I just had to deal with the other issue first, then if I reinstalled Kaspersky, I was going to follow your every instruction. Right now Kaspersky is not installed, so I did not ignore a thing, and I feel offended about that, and rightly so. Now I will read the rest of your reply, thank you. Re the pic, I thought you were a mod. I apologise about that, as that was a mistake from my end. I no longer have the ability to edit any post though, which is confusing me no end. I can not find any other keyboard locker, not on the store in Australia. Could you kindly link to one? I put the search keyboard locker into Microsoft store and can not find one. Kaspersky free will have ads won't it? and spam? Is it missing anything for actual malware protection, like the roll back, extensive ransomware protection, etc, or is it just the firewall? does it still have mic and cam protection? That is essential to me, and Avira doesn't have it which is going to be a dealbreaker anyway, so that's out. I'd honestly rather just press "off" on kaspersky firewall and use glasswire, if that's the option. Not the end of the world. Glasswire still works and monitors all network activity, just you have to enable the firewall mode for block features. I am not that distubed by the idea of disabling Kaspersky just when I want to use Glasswire's features when gaming, and re enabling it when not. That's not a bad idea which just came to me. I was just concerned that the firewall might be integrated to other malware blocking components which is why I asked. I didn't even KNOW there was a kaspersky free till now, as I don't even see it on their homepage. My renewal is coming up and I am just trying to decide what to go with for the next 2 years, that's all. Re the app, it's a false positive, simple as that, and not up to me to fix it, I can't fix it, that's up to Kaspersky and support are aware of the issue. I have evidence it's a false positive. Kaspersky has listed it as a different malware each time it has blocked it, for one, and for two, as said, my system has used it every day for years, and if it had run any malware on my system, Kaspersky full scan would have detected other malware infestations on my system instead of detecting that one single file as the ONLY malware anywhere on my system. If that's not proof, I don't know what is. Not to mention NO other AV finds it to be malware. None on my system anyway, and I am up to 10 second opinion scanners now, every free non real time scanner I could find. Heck, EVEN Norton Power eraser says it's clean, and that's the KING of false positives. PS I AM going to contact the dev tonight and let them know of the issue with pics and a link to this topic. -
I installed Kaspersky Antivirus and my mouse and keyboard stopped working after restarting. Kaspersky needs to support better Windows Apps and Windows Store Programs
Bav replied to iJohnnyCash's topic in Kaspersky Security Cloud
Hi and thank you 1) How? I can not access any windows store exes in explorer and have never been able to on any computer, in fact windows won't even allow me to browse the install folders 2) I asked them what to do since send wouldn't work, and I guess it got lost in translation as I did not understand their reply at all. My question was, is there a report file generated to disk somewhere that I can send you, since the automated send feature keeps failing? They did not answer that 3) Thanks 4)The problem is it's not free anymore, it's a dollar now. I offered to buy it for support, happily. I have had it on my system for years and suddenly Kaspersky doesn't like it. 8 second opinion scanners, with full scans that took many hours, all say it's fine (MWB, ESET, Emsisoft, Norton PE, Hitman Pro and others). In fact I disabled Kaspersky as said and enabled Malwarebytes real time protection so I was not "naked" lol, left the app running for half an hour and pressed the buttons on it many times, and then I closed the app and reenable kaspersky. If there was actual malware on my system, Kaspersky would have gone nuts, plus I used it for the last month that kasperskyt wasn't installed, and if malicious, it would have infected my machine. The app is this: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9p70315qbf2r?hl=en-US&gl=US I believe that because the app is purposely designed to lock the entire keyboard with a click of the button, Kaspersky's behavioural analysis is thinking it's malicious. it's the only thing that makes sense. With reports, I am so sorry, I got upset and I used Revo to uninstall Kaspersky completely as I use that app on many games to instantly disable mouse if I am using a controller, or when I want to wipe the keyboard with a cloth (many times a day due to fingerprints which bother me a lot, it's a dark laptop), so now there's nothing kaspersky left on the machine and I have gone back to malwarebytes for malware/glasswire for firewall/spyshelter for webcam and mic monitoring for now. When I have time I can reinstall KAS and do it all again if it helps. I do appreciate the reply, I really do. I was just frustrated because every time kaspersky blocked it, I could not ignore it, it forced disinfection and it took ages each time. -
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro (version 22H2) Kaspersky Application: Kaspersky Plus Issue: Application blocked or disrupted due to false positive detection Hello, I’m experiencing issues using a legitimate application called KeyPress OSD. It’s an open-source tool that displays on-screen keyboard and mouse input, which is particularly useful for recording tutorial videos where viewers need to see which shortcuts I’m using. Unfortunately, Kaspersky Plus flags or blocks it, likely because it's built with AutoHotkey (AHK) — a scripting language that’s often wrongly identified as malicious. The tool is completely safe and widely used in educational contexts. 🔗 AutoHotkey forum thread about false positives: https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=62266 Product Description: KeyPress OSD is an On-Screen Display for key and mouse inputs. It shows key presses in large text on-screen, ideal for accessibility, streaming, or tutorials. It uses AutoHotkey as its scripting engine, which sometimes triggers antivirus alerts. What I'm looking for: How can I configure Kaspersky Plus to allow this app to run normally? Is there a recommended way to exclude a trusted AutoHotkey-based app from scans or monitoring? Should I whitelist the .EXE file, the folder, or the AutoHotkey interpreter itself? If needed, I can attach screenshots showing the detection pop-up or logs. I’m happy to follow all safety best practices, but I also need to be able to use this tool for my work without constant interruptions. Thanks in advance for your support! Best regards, Rafael -
I left my computer alone for two weeks, When I returned my Kaspersky icons had disappeared from my desktop. Kaspersky still appears to be running but I cannot launch it from the apps list and get the same annoying dialogue as the original poster. Kaspersky also cannot open the secure browser to my Bank or other financial sites. I have tried downloading Microsoft.net framework and reinstalling it but this achieves nothing either. Is this some monkey business from Microsoft?

Having upgraded to Premium from Total Security, the virtual keyboard in Safe Money no longer functions correctly. Clicking on the keys does not always register, so passworded files and websites are very difficult to access unless I resort to using the real keyboard, which defeats the point of having a virtual keyboard for security

Kaspersky Plus wants an activation code - what to do?
nicoret posted a topic in Kaspersky: Basic, Standard, Plus, Premium
Every Kaspersky update I've ever done - since about 2016 - has something incomprehensible. I just downloaded Kaspersky Plus, installed, relaunched (Windows 7) and a Kaspersky desktop message says: "preparing to launch the application". It's been "preparing to launch the application" for about half an hour. About 15 minutes ago, the application, while still "preparing to launch", popped up a message saying my subscription was active until 15/07/2025. When I pressed "Continue", it asked me to insert the activation code. Of course, Kaspersky Plus does not require an activation code. But the "Activate" button is dead, waiting for me to insert an activation code. Of course I don't have one. Maybe I should just close the pop-up and carry on, right? But maybe that would abort the "preparing to launch the application" process? It's been 45 minutes and it's still "preparing to launch the application". What protection my PC has during this process, I dread to think. PS: While waiting for Kaspersky Plus to start working, I tried reactivating my old Windows Firewall but of course that is unreactivatable because it's being "managed by Kaspersky Standard" (not PLus?)
