I understand it as an extra protection layer
scan the drive in advance gives you much more assurance
you can choose to use it or not

I will buy external mobile hard drive and cloud drive service to store valuable data in other locations
I will save my many passwords in a notebook
I will clean useless junk files and personal history via third party software like CCleaner or ashampoo winoptimizer
I will use tool like Autoruns to manual optimize my os settings
I will use CrystalDiskInfo to check the health of my HDDs and SSDs
I will use my router‘s management website page to monitor devices connected to my wifi. will also set enough strong passwords for my wifi so that I dont worry that someone else will share my internet.
also there are many other choices for VPN software.
As far as I concern, I only need K standard. and I miss old K internet security.

K could cooperate with windows security center. BUT K use its own firewall, it is compatible with defender firewall, it do not follow defender firewall's rules. defender and its firewall is easily sabotaged.
K's firewall is much more complicated and useful powered by K's own filter drivers.
therefore third party AV should not and need not simpliy apply defender and defender firewall's rules and exceptions
Once you install K, defender and defender firewall should go slience and automaticly turn off.
I suggest you setup a bunch of K's firewall rules and let K protect you. forget defender firewall is OK.

Indeed KES do use K's own notification
but home product do not use K's own notification. It use windows.
Unless you run K under windows7....you will get traditional K notification.
Why you do not have K's notification under win11？
It is because somehow there is bug in installation process. so you cannot find K in here
so K cannot push its notification to windows.
Re-install K should fix. No need a re-install of windows.

but as far as I know
1. elam driver do not function the way you described
It just block bad driver from loading before AV software truely fully loaded.
2. when you enter desktop. K's core protection is loaded(however that is nothing to do with the elam driver),but not every component is loaded
you will need to wait for a while.
emmmm.....I am not someone very professional,

which kind of start-up are you referring to?
the shield icon in lower right task bar which indicate that kaspersky service is loaded
or
the kaspersky program interface UI opened after you boot up your system without your mannul click the program icon in the desktop? (this is a bug)
