  1. I can confirm the same issue on one of my Windows 10 computers. It's interesting, this issue only affects one of them, the other don't have this issue. Sometimes it happens if the computer wake up from sleep mode. Sometimes a reboot fix this issue. The software on the other computer and both tablets works fine. In other cases after a reboot the software also stops working. I've found no errors in the windows events related to that issue. I've reinstalled the software a couple of times, that not helped.

They already know what the problem is. It was introduced by a patch in early February.
In my case it seems to be tied to sleep mode (laptop). However even after a reboot it still is not fully working. I tried to uninstall it and reinstalled it as well.

I am sure there are many other customers that will just switch when they can and not post here. But because most of us bought the full security suite it may not be obvious as folks will continue to use the antivirus until their sub expires.

  2. It is obvious that Kaspersky is fast losing it as a company.

This is so incredibly shoddy. We are paying for the app on a freaking subscription! There is no exuse for allowing a break issue like this that actually puts the customer’s kids at RISK and not putting it on high priority and getting it fixed promptly (as in within DAYS)!

I have had it. I am loading Qustodio tonight. I am only sorry that I renewed failrly recently.

The signs have been there for a while on past issues. I guess this is the kick in the pants I needed to get off this product.

  3. The current issue with sleep mode basically turning off much of Kids is a pretty big deal. and yet there is no pinned topic to inform customers which is really poor ettiquette.

Significant issues like this need to be pinned along with any known date(s) of resolution please. I am really beginning to feel like Kaspersky does not respect it’s customers and sees them as a bother? What is going on with the product team????

  4. Due to the fact that the developers have not implimented more detailed scheduling of apps I have to turn off certain sites during school hours and turn them back on after school is over. Yes it is a pain in the ***.

My Kaspersky is needed when their school makes an assigment on a site that is blocked. Which is what happend with my other child.

  5. The two replies above seem to be related to two different kids devices with different os.

The android app has a feature where you can set various apps to be allowed during blocked periods (probably because they see this all the time with phones where parents want kids not to be sitting on the phone but they want communications apps to still be available for emergencies etc.

I would love to see this same feature in the windows client. That could be the answer to many of the calls for this type of feature and the very real need that parents have during covid homeschooling for the additional feature set.

As the September note says (which is what I was also told when I reported/asked for it) the problem is a stubborn philosophy getting in the way of customer needs. They already have the code in android. So likely the logic work is already done.

This is the stupidest rational and I am terribly dissapointed that the owners of Kaspersky are allowing the dev managers to get away with blocking out customer requests this way. I really like working with Kaspersky, especiall being a russophone (My spouse is from Russia, I l.ived there for a year). But they are even putting me off by this and I will be forced to discontinue my subscription once it expires.

  6. I just wanted to add to this report.

Since (the last large update?( the update right around when reports stopped working for a few days for a lot of users), ever since then the reports seem to have periods of sluggishness and do not always update in a timely manner.

I created a ticket some time ago and they basically just said to reinstall the app.

From my diagnosis this sure looks like something is happening on the Kaspersky end where either the client / server communications of activity are interrupted or the application database updates to the reporting are sluggish on the platform.

Working in IT I see this all the time where an issue is assumed to be on the users end (because a lot of issues generally can be related to client os) and only when enough reports come in that someone on the development team finally pours through the various logs (etl, app logs, etc) do they finally realize something was wrong on the host platform.

From what I see someone needs to do a serious bit of digging and not assume it is all on the client side.
When you submit a ticket they do not even ask for your IP, so they are not even looking at the server and application logs as there will always be a way to verify communication in the platform if you have the clients IP.

  7. Hello @SST

    Welcome again!

    • Have you tested the KPC/Twitter/porn issues with the opendns solution?

Please share the results with the Community?

    Thank you🙏

    Flood🐳+🐋

I haven’t tested this as I have all “internet communication”  checked (forbidden)  and then used exceptions for the school related ones needed. So in my case twitter is not even exposed for just this reason.
I had not even considered that the Kids AI would be able to accurately differentiate between family vs porn accurately. That is great if it does but for younger kids I just have it turned off and the reason I also use family based opendns is just a second set of AI and also for our so us adults don’t accidently stumble upon it.

There are many other reasons to restrict social media for children: even when it is clean it is incredibly coercive and the AI behind them forms a type of addiction and can limit a child’s view of the world around them.

If you have not seen it yet I highly recommend “The social Dilemma”  (on Netflix) as something all parents should watch (and watch with their older children). Social media AI is terribly dystopian…..

  8. Another one:

Looks like one of the biggest players in software is in beta adding time controls by app.
So this is an industry trend!

    From their site:

Find screen time balance: Screen time limits

Set screen time limits across Windows and Xbox devices. Or if your kids will be on devices longer for things like online learning, you can set limits on specific apps or games instead.2 Now when you say only one hour of a certain game, that really means one hour of that game—whether that’s being played on a Windows PC, Xbox, or Android phone. And if they run out of screen time, they can ask for more. You have the choice to add more time or not based on what is right for your family.

  9. Time for Kaspersky kids to get with it! Competitors are stepping up! I have only done a cursory search as I am looking for alternatives and this competitor just released rudimentory app blocking by time. I am sure they must be working on expanding this. Description from a review below (removed the app name).

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For app-blocking settings on Android, Windows, and macOS devices,  Search for apps your child has used across any of their supported devices. Instead of pre-populating a list of common apps, add apps to the list as your child starts using them.

For any app entry on the list, you can toggle whether you'd like to apply no restrictions, set a total time limit for each day of the week, or just block it outright. This feature could be useful if you wanted to always let your kid access the calculator app for homework, but wanted to keep the time they spend on social media to a minimum, without totally locking them out. We had no issues blocking apps on our Windows and Android test devices.

I really like Kaspersky’s security suite but this issue may unfortunately drive me from their products. Please do this….

  10. simple question - is it posiible to temporarily (by schedule) block youtube? If yes, how can I do that?

i.e I need to block all youtube videos between 7am - 4pm. While children have online lessons they shouldn’t have access to YT (any videos). But - sometimes teachers link them a video on YT they should watch - is it possible to “allow-one-time-only”?

OR - is it possible to block certain word/s/topic in YT searcher? Not single YT site but all sites witch certain words (i.e. korean, fortnite, wow, etc.)

I know i can block entire youtube site permanent by using categories. I know that i can allow specific YT site. But that’s not what i/m looking for.

This is obviously the most needed feature of current Kid’s users. The request is all over this forum in one form or another.

Please submit a help ticket asking for the feature. The developers are being very stubborn in their stance. It’s not that they cannot add it, they are not convinced of the need: Possibly because development is occuring in a country where normal school is still in session.

They probably do not read these forums. But certainly they will read a support ticket.

  11. If Kapersky cant get their crap together and create a category of apps which can be restricted based on time of day and daily usage, then provide a suggestion of an app that does this and a refund of the subscription fee.

I agree their attitude toward this is quite frustrating. If another app is identified with this functionality I certainly will end my use of Kaspersky (I have the entire suite on all my family computers).

I am sure other family apps are working hard to upgrade their features as the market is growing fast. If anyone knows of an app that can do this let us know :)

  12. All of us are struggling with home schooling difficulties that this adjustment to Kaspersky kids could help.
The developers like in a country where schools continue to operate and it seems they have not yet understood the critical need out there.

I highly recommend that everyone send in a request to add these features as an official support request. That is the way for them to see the real need for this feature set.

Talking about it here won’t be nearly as effective as bringing it straight to them in a ticket.

  13. That response is completely unaware of what parents are going through right now with covid/home based schooling.

I cannot emphasize enough how important it is right now to be able to keep kids from the ability to use games etc during school hours. After school hours that changes right?

    Do the developers have kids?

My wife is Russian and from what I have seen on the tv I think that schools are running in Russia. But that is not the case in much of the world where Kaspersky sells this product. As a result of the last year also many more families will continue home schooling even after restrictions are over.

Time for the devs to get with the times ;)

  14. This is occurring with multiple (4) devices on windows.

As it turns out the reporting eventually shows up about a day behind. This has been occurring since the day that my.kaspersky / kids was offline for maintenance.

I will check the versions. They were all installed about 3 months ago. Shouldn’t they keep themselves updated since they are part of the antivirus suite? And is there a known issue where kids no longer works with previous recent patch levels?

I also see that there are at least 5 others reporting the same issue happening about the same time mine did.

I will investigate later today on the devices, but given as it is all devices and the info is showing up late that does not seem to point to the devices but to an issue with communication with Kaspersky? I work high level service issues on server/database platforms for a living and this really feels like something that Kaspersky needs to follow up on their side. Possibly related to the maintenance changes done around a week ago.

  15. I just wanted to add that this feature would be particularly helpful.

Now that kids are schooling from home I am running into the exact same problem and it is quite frustrating.

I find that I have to manually go in and re-disable game apps and re-enable them again on the afternoons they get to have game time.

    This is extremely frustrating.

Since homeschooling is now quite prevalent I really hope that Kaspersky will look into adding this capability as I am sure many other parents are struggling with this now.

Thanks! Otherwise I really appreciate this product.
