I guess we’ve got two contradictory answers; I was told that my issue will be taken care of so I asked the Kaspersky team member for clarification.
When you created this topic “How to force update of Safe Kids now that the new version is out?”, 3rd Mar 2021, we checked our systems, and also found no patch H, on that basis & on the basis of the topic you created, we logged a case, and provided the feedback to you; the case got escalated to the Kaspersky/KSK expert team in Russia for an answer; their reply (to us) is as per the email, shown in our last reply.
Thank you🙏

That’s ok but I wasn’t asking you; my question was to @Schulte, the Kaspersky Team member apparently. I got my answer from the Kaspersky Lab Support regarding limits and blocking not working, regardless of entering sleep mode or not. They confirmed that patch H will fix it. I got this information before changelog for Patch H was released. So I’m trying to figure which answer (mine or yours) is correct as they are contradictory.
My ticket was INC000012482659

You don’t know that. I was told by the Support after I submitted my ticket that the upcoming patch H will fix my issue. Now that the release notes say something about Sleep Mode I’m trying to figure out what’s going on by asking the Kaspersky Employee.

Patch 'h' is distributed in a staggered manner.
This means that it may take a few days until your KSK receives the patch. This cannot be accelerated.App="SAFEKIDS 1.0.5.[1360,4096,4638,4848,6123,6390,6821]"
Target="[0-65535]"
ApplyPeriod="24"
ApplyAction="restart_os"
FixName="h"Hi,
does this patch address the issue that we’ve been talking about, i.e. time restrictions not working and apps not being blocked? I don’t think it has anything to do with windows sleep mode in most cases.

How to update Safe Kids to version H, which is supposed to fixed the latest issues?
Kaspersky Safe Kids for Windows release notes
Release notes say that
“Patch H for Kaspersky Safe Kids for Windows version 1.0.5 was released on February 25, 2021.
In patch H, we have fixed an issue that caused limits of device usage to stop working after exiting Sleep mode.
Patch H is installed automatically with the Kaspersky Safe Kids for Windows database update.”
Would love my SK to work again, unfortunatelly it’s still version G on my son’s PC. Reinstalling Safe Kids doesn’t help, it installs G version.
God it’s so annoying.

Just a follow-up, it’s not working again so I guess the windows update wasn’t the fix after all.

Hello @sha123,
Welcome!
Thank you for the detailed information👌
❓ Do all Windows updates have a Successfully updated status?
🅰 First let’s fix KTS, it’s up to version 21.2.16.590(b)
- Create a System restore point
- Check whether any applications installed on the computer are incompatible with KTS ?
- Uninstall KTS, save License information ONLY, leave all other checkboxes blank.
- Download new KTS installer, install KTS, at the end of the install make sure the computer is shutdown, using Shutdown, not Restart, power on, login.
- Make sure KTS is started & patch(b) has been applied?
- Run a manual Database update → allow it to complete.
- Run a manual Full scan update → allow it to complete.
🅱 Second uninstall & clean install KSK:
- Create a System restore point → yes, another☺
- Shutdown all applications, browsers, etc.
- Uninstall KSK
- At the end of the uninstall make sure the computer is shutdown, using Shutdown, not Restart, power on, login.
- Download new KSK installer
- Install KSK
- Configure KSK
- Monitor “Time limits do not work” & “blocked applications able to be launched” issues?
Please let us know the outcome?
Thank you🙏

Hi,
thanks for posting.
I managed to fix it somehow by updating Windows to the latest version, i.e. October 2020 Update, version 20H2. I suppose this friday security update was the culprit.
-
Friday 12 February was the last day my KSK operated properly on Windows 10. Time limits and schedules are in place, however no time is being logged by the program on Feb 13, 14, or today 15.
Locally, the program was showing no time limit.
I noticed this was not working yesterday, so I uninstalled the app, shutdown, rebooted, and reinstalled, and re-connected my kids’ account to their profiles in KSK. Now the schedule time shows, as well as the limit, however it’s not showing any time used, while I know it’s been used for several hours.
Additionally, I noticed that while it’s not counting used time properly, it’s also no longer enforcing “not allowed” hours. It shows it under “My schedule today” on the computer, but it happily lets the user continue during the blocked hours.
Other than uninstalling and reinstalling, which I’ve already done - what are the next troubleshooting steps?
I do see several people on the forum reporting the same issue, all roughly starting around 12 February; so I’m starting to wonder if this is stemming from a recent software update?
I”m running 1.0.5.6821(g)
Hi,
I had exactly the same issue but I managed to fix it.
It seemed that the recent windows update package was to blame;
My fix was that I ran this major Windows update to version 20H2; now everything seems to be back to normal

Hi,
I’ve had Safe Kids Installed since July 2020 and it’s been ok up to now.
I have some daily time limits set up for my son’s computer but they stopped working. When my son checks how much time he’s got left by clicking on the Safe Kids icon in the tray, it says that he has no limit at all for the whole day.
He can also launch applications I blocked. Changing the limits or blocking/unblocking apps has no effect at all.
I have a Total Security 2020 Suite, it’s not a free or trial version, the licence is valid. Anti-virus runs ok.
I tried the following:
1. I restored default IE settings
2. I Restored Network settings to defaults
3. I tried to create a new Kid account in Safe Kids but when I tried to log in/connect it with the user account on windows it said that Kaspersky Safe Kids is “Unable to connect to the server”.
4. I switched to different internet connection - I connected to the hot spot created on mobile phone but it did not change anything.
5. I uninstalled Safe Kids and reinstalled, it helped but only until the computer got restarted.By the way, I do receive alerts that my son’s visiting some websites that are not allowed.
My son’s computer is running Windows 10, version 2004
Safe Kids Version is 1.0.5.6821(g)
Total Security Version is 20.0.14.1085 (m)Son's computer got some windows updates on Friday: Cumulative Security Update KB4601319
and .NET 3.5/4.5 update KB4601050

How to force update of Safe Kids now that the new version is out?

The point is not the arrival or postponing of the patch. It’s about what it does.
It was supposed to address certain issues, if it does not someone should clarify that. “Exiting sleep mode” is a bit ambiguous; one may argue that the person who wrote this is not the native speaker of English. Perhaps they mean “sleep mode” of Safe Kids, i.e. the period in which the app is inactive. When a device is powered on, it tries to reconnect after “sleep” and this is what this is about. So someone from Kaspersky should clarify that.
