    as you noted, it is very difficult to accurately estimate scan duration. It is first extrapolated based on the speed of the scan of the first files. This is only an estimated value.

    If during the scan files are detected that need more resources, their scan is delayed and pushed to the end of the scan. These are often archives and installation files, which in turn may contain packed objects. The time needed for unpacking cannot be determined in advance. Therefore, 0-98% often goes quite quickly, the rest then appears tough.

    If there are no packed objects on a HD (even office files or PDFs are .zip archives) the indication of the remaining time is quite accurate.

    Hi @scope,

    ich gehe auch von einem FP aus. Spiele haben oft Routinen, die Malware ähneln.
    Absolut sicher kann man aber nicht sein. Auch Spielehersteller nutzen Bibliotheken, die kompromittiert sein könnten. Selbst über die "absolut sicheren" Shops von Apple und Google wurde schon Malware verteilt.

    Du kannst die Warnung natürlich übergehen, das bleibt Dir frei.

    Hallo @scope,

    beginnt das Verdict mit "PDM", handelt es sich um eine verhaltensbasierte Erkennung. Das Programm verhält sich wie ein noch unbekannter Exploit.

    Da VT die Datei üblicherweise nur nach bekannten Mustern untersucht und nicht ausführt, mag sie durchaus sauber erscheinen. Die VT-Verhaltenserkennung in einer Sandbox scheint gerade zu hängen.

    Wie dem auch sei, egal ob falscher oder richtiger Alarm: Du solltet Dich mit dem Support in Verbindung setzen. Bei PDM-Warnungen kann nur er helfen bzw die Datei näher analysieren.

    Kaspersky bietet die Basic nicht in allen Regionen an. Langfristig soll die Version eingestellt werden.

    Vorhandene KAV-Lizenzen behalten ihre Gültigkeit und KAV kann damit weiter betrieben werden.
    Ab der kommenden Version (MR9) kann eine noch gültige KAV-Lizenz für ein Upgrade auf 'Standard' benutzt werden. Die Lizenzserver werden derzeit dafür vorbereitet.

    Hi @Studynx,

    the default KTS settings are a good balance between security and performance. However, Kaspersky offers experienced users the possibility to make deep changes. If you know exactly what the consequences are, you can turn one or the other adjusting screw for personal needs.

    Setting a password is never a wrong thing to do. This way, no other user who has access to your computer can change important AV settings.

    However, Kaspersky products also offer excellent self-protection. If this is activated (default setting), malware cannot change settings, parts of the program or the entire installation.

    Hello @Studynx,

    if the icon is displayed pale, it always means inheritance.

    In my example, 'Operating system' has the 'Write' option set to 'Ask user'. The 'Startup settings', 'System files',.... inherit this setting. For inheritance it doesn't matter if 'Allow', 'Ask user' or 'Deny' is set, what is set for 'Operating system' applies by default to all options of this group.

    However, you can change the rule for the subgroups (or their individual components) from 'Inherit' to 'Allow' or another option.
    But this requires more than the basic knowledge, you can use it to make your system not only more secure but also unusable.

    Hi @Studynx,

    to list all the differences of the groups is too long.
    Restrictions exist e.g. for file accesses, registry accesses (read/change/create/delete), accesses to drives/network, start of other programs or subprograms...

    You can compare it yourself:
    open 'Manage applications' and call the settings for the groups with a mouse right click (caution: don't change anything!)

    Hello @Studynx,

    the settings in your screenhot refer to the new product line 'Kaspersky Standard/Plus/Premium'.
    They allow a bit more user control, e.g. the automatic mode is disabled by unchecking the 'Perform recommended actions automatically' option. This allows you to extend or restrict the rights of your installed programs.
    The same options exist in KTS, just in a different place (unfortunately I don't have KTS installed right now).

    But the settings shown in the screenshot have nothing to do with the HIPS per se. This is always active and follows rules set by Kaspersky.
    The difference is this: by default KTS decides what to do with a detection, in the other case you have to make the decision yourself.

    Hallo @Frank Berlin 2023, willkommen.

    Die Entwickler sind am Problem dran und haben eine neue VPN-Version in der Mache.

    Das Problem tauchte unerwartet auf, selbst die aktuelle Beta-Version ist beeinträchtigt.
    Laut unbestätigten Berichten sind auch andere VPN-Anbieter betroffen, möglicherweise ist es kein reines Kaspersky-Problem.

    Wenn Du die Druckersoftware Deines Herstellers benutzt, kann es helfen, für diese das Split Tunneling zu aktivieren.
    Sonst hilft leider nur Abwarten.

    Hallo @bazi,

    Kaspersky ist immer offen für Verbesserungsvorschläge.
    Deinen solltest Du mir aber bitte etwas näher erläutern.

    Das von Dir genannte AddOn wirbt mit verbesserter Privatsphäre, indem es automatisch alle Cookies erlaubt. Das ist für mich ein Widerspruch: Cookies (besonders Third-Party-Cookies) dienem oft dem Ausspähen von Nutzeraktivitäten. Verzichten kann man nicht auf alle, manche sind berechtigt und notwendig (Online-Shops, Foren-Accounts,...).

    Ich nehme mal an, Du möchtest die gesetzlich vorgeschriebenen Cookie-Banner umgehen und alle mit "Ja, ihr könnt meine Daten frei verwenden" beantworten. Das wäre Deine freie Entscheidung, ein AV-Hersteller kann das aber nicht für gut befinden.

    Je nach Deinem Kaspersky-Produkt kannst Du in den "Datenschutzeintellungen" die Option "Schutz vor Datensammlung" deaktivieren. Dann kannst Du auf Deinen Systemen das Aushorchen per Browsereinstellung "Alle Cookies erlauben" und entsprechenden AddOns gerne erlauben. Ich denke aber mal, dass Kaspersky das auch in Zukunft nicht unterstützen wird. Datenschutz ist wichtiger als Bequemlichkeit.

    Ich warte gerne auf Deine nähere Begründung für den Wunsch, vielleicht habe ich ihn falsch interpretiert...

    KTS-Schutz

    Hi @diwand,

    "Es gab dann eine Fehlermeldung" ist natürlich etwas dünn.

    Falls es eine Meldung des Browsers (z. B. 404) war, hatte der zuständige Provider die Seite eventuell schon entfernt, oder Dein Browser/DNS-Provider hat sie blockiert.

    War es eine Meldung der KTS, müsstest Du einen Eintrag in den Berichten finden, vorzugsweise Web-AV.

    Der reine Aufruf einer Phishingseite ist aber in der Regel noch nicht gefährlich. Erst wenn Du dort Daten eingibst (nachgemachte Bankingseite, falsches Onlinestore-Login,...) solltest Du weitere Schritte unternehmen.

    Da Deine KTS keinen weiteren Alarm von sich gegeben hat gehe ich davon aus, dass der Aufruf folgenlos blieb.
    Eine vollständige Untersuchung und das Achten auf "seltsames Verhalten" in den nächten Tagen ist aber nie ein Fehler.

    KIS blockiert Verbindung von Telegram Desktop 4.5.2

    Hallo @DanielN, Willkommen.

    Es wäre möglich, dass der Server das Kaspersky-Zertifikat nicht akzeptiert. Dieses wird eingesetzt, wenn die "Untersuchung sicherer Verbindungen" für das Telegram-Programm aktiv ist.

    Du kannst hier eine Ausnahme in KIS setzen.
    Aber teste bitte zunächst mal kurz:

    gehe zu “Einstellungen->Netzwerkeinstellungen”, scrolle die rechte Seite nach unten und setze bei “Untersuchung verschlüsselter Verbindungen” die Option “Verschlüsselte Verbindungen nicht untersuchen”. Speichern.

    Falls dann keine Probleme mehr bestehen, setzen wir eine Ausnahme nur für das Programm. Der Test ist keine Dauerlösung und sollte schnellstmöglich wieder rückgängig gemacht werden.

    Hello @EvilScorbunny, Welcome.

    The latest versions of Kaspersky software (21.8.5.452) now accept a KTS (Kaspersky Total Security) key if at least patch "a" is installed.
    Your KTS becomes a 'Kaspersky Plus', but without the unlimited VPN data volume included with the 'Plus'. You get everything that the KTS had, but no more.

    There will be no automatic upgrade, you will have to install it manually.

    Hello @Psiu47,

    I think that the 21.3.x.x will be supported with updates for quite some time. How long, only Kaspersky knows.
    But it would not be a problem if you have to upgrade to 21.8.x.x. It runs without problems also on Win7 (with a KIS key). See screenshot, made two minutes ago:

    Of course, Kaspersky cannot make Win7 an up-to-date system supported by MS. But the combination is far better than no protection.

    KIS blocking google earth server login

    Hello @itekweni,

    KIS should harmonize with any standard program (like Google Earth).

    If this is not the case, there is a bug somewhere that needs to be identified and fixed. It can be KIS and its settings, your system (installed drivers/programs), network connection or something unknown.

    I can only recommend you to contact the support. Only they are allowed to request and analyze the necessary log files. I am sure that your problem can be solved.

    KIS to Total Security Activation Key

    Hi @steve33,

    You can enter a so-called 'reserve code', which will automatically activate after the license expires. However, there have been rare reports that the actually reliable procedure did not work.

    Since you are changing the product at the same time, I would personally enter the key only after the KIS license has expired. This way it is one process less (for the activation).
