  1. On a cellphone, WhatsApp wants access to contacts, camera, microphone, phone, photos and videos. Does anybody know what it wants access to on a PC Windows 7? And what can Kaspersky do about it? Thanks
  2. Thanks richbuff. So, I can either (a) enter the new activation code or (b) disconnect from internet uninstall the old version etc.? Or do you recommend I do all of the above? I see here the possibility of uninstalling KIS but keeping the licence information. Is there a good reason to keep the old license number when installing a new version of KIS? I have a license number in my current KIS (expires Saturday) but for the new version I’m installing all I have is an activation code. Where do license numbers come from?
  3. I have been using Kaspersky Internet Security (with “automatic renewal” turned off) since about 2014, and I have a My Kaspersky account. My KIS for Windows 7 expires this week. From the Kaspersky website I bought KIS 2020 for 2 PCs for 2 years. I got an activation code and downloaded startup.exe (2.8 Mb file). I also got an email from Kaspersky sending me to a page where I can create a Kaspersky account (presumably a My Kaspersky account, but it doesn’t say so). Because I already have an account, I did not create a new one. Now what do I do? My options for having KIS working again appear to be: Uninstall the current KIS on both PCs, install the new version from startup.exe, and paste in the activation code; (Variant of above - install the new version without uninstalling the current version and have the installer sort out which bits to replace/delete/add;) Wait until the current KIS expires on both PCs and hope that I can then simply paste the activation code to get them both working again; Go to my My Kaspersky account, paste in the activation code there and see what happens next (what would happen next?) NB: The email from Kaspersky about opening a Kaspersky account is worrying because maybe Options 1, 2 and 3 won’t work unless I have an account? But I already have an account. But Kaspersky doesn’t know. Should I open a new account anyway just to make sure it all works?
  4. You asked about the outcome. It was good. I wrote asking for a refund and it arrived Monday, no questions asked.
  5. Hullo Flood, nice to see you here again. Thanks for the info about claiming a refund. I’ll let you know how it goes.
  6. Today Kaspersky Internet Security popped up on my PC screen with the news that it would expire in 30 days and that I could renew it (and save “up to 20%”) by clicking on the big red “Renew Now” button. Here’s that, in Italian. I did, and was taken to the Renewal page. After clicking all the buttons and paying, I discovered I had not renewed Kaspersky Internet Security but had purchased, for the first time. Kaspersky Total Security. I wasn’t paying enough attention and was foolled by the “Renew” (Rinnovo) badge. So, it cost me 20% more than what I thought I was renewing. Well done, Kaspersky sales department! I’Il remember this next year. The only other immediate downside (for me, the client) is I received an email welcoming me to Kaspersky and inviting me to create a password to “access the client area”. The link in the email goes to a page telling me, cryptically, to “insert your log-in to receive your password”. But I already have a MyKaspersky account, where my KIS is passing it’s final 30 days before expiring, never to be renewed. Could that mean that I’ve got a brand new Kaspersky account for my brand new purchase? Or is Kaspersky telling me to create a new password for my existing account?
  7. OK, fixed! So simple,... Just open the application's license panel, click on the green cross ("x") to destroy the old license code, then it'll ask you to insert the new one, you do, and you have KIS for another year. Got that from online technical chat. Of course there's a Knowledge base page on it. But wasn't included in the email with the activation code. Anyway good for another year. Thanks for the advise.
  8. Yes, I realize at every renewal there is a difference between the product and the sales/marketing, But today's problem might be of both -- in the end I bought the latest KIS and installed it, and got the new license key with it. In my online Kaspersky account, I see I have KIS for another 365 days. But the good news has not reached the KIS I installed his morning on my PC. It says my license ended this morning at 11:07 and I should contact Kaspersky to get another one, There's no renew button or "insert license key here". Any suggestions?
  9. I just checked my bank and nexway (Kaspersky's monetizer) has taken the last euro from my flash card. So "automatic renewal" went through (partially anyway), even though I have an email from Kaspersky Lab from last year saying automatic renewal had been cancelled at my request. Anyway, FLOOD - thanks for the advise.
  10. Thanks, I'll look at the options. Meantime, correction to my post: KIS 2019 for three devices costs €75.95, not €93.95 (see here)
  11. I've used KIS since about 2014. I assume it's doing a great job, but renewal is usually very messy. This year no different. My KIS 2018 expires this week. I have tried to block "automatic renewal" because I don't want the three-device version (I bought KIS for three devices in 2017 for €39.99, now it costs €93.95). So, I tried to block "automatic renewal" by writing to technical support and got an email saying the license would not be renewed. But when I go to my Kapersky page (the Italian version) I get the this: I says that my license will NOT be automatically renewed but it also says that my license IS being renewed. There's also a link "download the software", which goes to a 404 page not found. Because I don't want to pay €94 (have only two devices now) but because Kaspersky might try to debit my card anyway, I changed by credit card details to a flash card with only a few euros on it. After I did that, I got this message: It says that Kaspersky will try to renew my license starting from 1 January 1970. So I don't know what will happen this week, but it looks like some wires are crossed at Kaspersky. At this point, I want my KIS to just stop working so I can uninstall it and then go shopping again, maybe for a two-device KIS. Any advise from Kaspersky? Thanks.
