Hi everyone! The Heuristic Analysis scan is set to Light Scan by default under Advanced settings of File Anti-Virus. All other settings for Kaspersky Total seem are set to medium. Is my Heuristic Analysis: Light Scan setting fine? Or should this be set to medium?

Thank you for your reply Schulte, appreciate the time you took in providing that insight. Unfortunately with millions of PC systems, you never know how many will be impacted negatively with a new build version, therefore it’s always a good idea to have an option to hold off for a while until bugs get worked out. There are many conscientious users that research everything before making a change because of the impact it will have on their dad to day tasks. Regardless, of the reasons options are always good and can serve as a safe measure for many. Thanks again for your input :)

Hi Flood, WOW… Well that really stinks, I can’t believe that got rid of that feature. New build versions for any program, especially an AV suite can cause issues to a system and other applications. Doesn’t feel right not having the ability to stay at a version that plays nice with everything. Very disappointing. 😤

Hi I know upgrading Kaspersky to the latest version can cause undesired/unexpected issues. Is Total Security 2020 configured to automatically update to the latest version? If so, is there a way to disable it from automatically updating itself to the latest build? I’d rather have control of this and wait for “bugs” to be worked out before deciding to upgrade my version to the latest. Thanks in advance! 🙂

My Kaspersky Account only for KTS?

Hello everyone, I am new to Kaspersky, just ending my free trail of TOTAL SECURITY. I have a question before deciding to stay with TOTAL SECURITY or go with INTERNET SECURITY. I know that Total Security has 3 additional components that Internet Security does not (Safe Kids, Passwords and File Protection). However, I need to make sure of the following: Does only Total Security have MY KASPERSKY ACCOUNT as an option where I can manage my multiple devices in the portal? -
@andrew75 HI! I have 3 questions: 1. So are you saying that Kaspersky will open/unpack compressed (zipped) folders and copy the contents first to a temporary folder for scanning and then send a Copy of the files to Quarantine? I checked closely and it only copied 1 file from the Zipped folder to quarantine. Why did it not copy all the contents? 2. Kaspersky puts a Copy in quarantine of a file that was “cleaned” or deleted, correct? 3. If I have a file in original folder and a Copy in Quarantine, should I delete the Copy? Thank you once again for your help!

Hello Wesly, Yes, the file is still in the original folder/location. This is why I am confused. I was told by a couple of support agents that when an infection is detected Kaspersky will send “COPY” of that file to Quarantine. Why is original “infected” file left in original location and “copy” sent to quarantine? Is this normal? I thought Kaspersky is supposed to delete the original “infected” file and send a “copy” to quarantine?

Hi Berny, The files are false positives, these are files i have downloaded long ago. There were app files for my Galaxy phone. I only tried the Zip files which gave me the error message. Here is a snip it of my quarantine: Here is the message when i try to restore the Zip files: I went ahead and set you the file as requested. Thank you so much in advance. ☺

Hi, I have recently downloaded latest version of Kaspersky Total. I have a couple of questions concerning the Interactive Protection settings: 1. Perform Recommended Actions Automatically and 2. Delete Malicious tools, Adware, Auto-Dialers and Suspicious Packages. What happens if I uncheck either of the two options? Does it affect other sections of Kaspersky? I need to have a good understanding on how this programs works. Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi everyone, I am new to Kaspersky and need a bit of help; I just downloaded latest version of Kaspersky Total . From what I’ve been told, with the default setting Kaspersky will automatically decide what to do, whether it will disinfect, delete or quarantine a file. Correct? Under File Anti-Virus Settings the Action On Threat Detection drop down box, it has Select Action Automatically; same goes for Web Anti-Virus Settings and Mail Anti-Virus Settings. I want more control of what Kaspersky does, I do not want to wonder if a “good” file has possibly been blocked, deleted or sent to quarantine. Is there not an option that I can enable where I would get notice asking me what to do when a threat is detected?

Hello everyone, I am new to Kaspersky therefore trying to understand product. A have a couple of questions/issues with Quarantine. What’s in Quarantine is only a “COPY” of the original file? What happens to original file that’s left in the original location? So now I essentially have 2 files, 1 in original location and 1 in Quarantine, is that right? Another point, so I have 8 files in quarantine, which I want to restore (they are false positives - they are good files); however when I click on restore i get the following message: “The file cannot be restored to the original folder. A file with that name already exists in the original folder”. This notification would make sense because it’s attempting to restore the “copy” back to original location where the original file is still there. Does that mean i would to restore the “copy” to another location? So which file would I keep, the restored one or the original file in the original folder location? I guess I’m trying to understand how Kaspersky handles the quarantining of files, seems confusing to me. Can anyone clear this up for me?
