Hello
So i return with an update regarding this problem.
Today after 3 weeks this happened again. I powered on my PC and Kaspersky Antivirus 2020 didn’t start in the taskbar tray.
I looked with task manger and there was only 1 avp.exe
Normally there are 2 avp.exes.
I can think of only 1 reason why maybe this happened. I have Fast Startup enabled in Windows 10. Yesterday i changed my wallpaper because i wanted my old one back. This is the 1st time has happened since 3 weeks ago.
Again i solved it by rebooting the PC.
I am thinking maybe Windows changes like wallpaper or taskbar color can make this happen because Fast Startup is enabled but i do not know fore sure.
If this will happen like only 1 time every 3-4 weeks then i guess i have no problem with it. But i hope it will not happen more often. I am maybe thinking changing my wallpaper triggered this but i am not 100% sure.

Sorry for the late reply.
Yes i did check the “hidden icons” in the taskbar and the Green KAV icon wasn’t there.
But does KAV 2020 normally use 2 exes ?
Because when KAV didn’t start i was looking with task manager there was only 1 exe that was running. I would guess the other exe was the one of the application not showing up in the taskbar ?
I have noticed that newer versions of KAV however seem to use 2 exes of the application.
I really have no idea what happened but it’s very confusing to say the least. 🤔

Thanks again for all the help, sorry if i was kind of a “headache” but as i said this was really stressing me out.
Gonna wait and see and if it happens again then i’ll try with the Windows 10 normal startup and see if it fixes the issue.
Also, if the issue isn’t resolved in both fast and normal startups then should i contact techical support ?
-
Well normally there are 2 exes in task manager. If you can please look at that screenshot from my 1st post.
Here’s the screenshot, i posted it again.☺
I’d rather just wait and see if this happens again. Maybe it was just a 1 time thing. I mean in over 2 weeks this has only happened once so maybe it won’t happen again or if it does perhaps it will happen over 6 months or so.
In the screenshot i posted there are 2 exes but when this happened there was only 1 exe so that’s why i’m kinda confused as to wether or not KAV was working.
I also did wait like 3-4 minutes to see if maybe KAV starts up but it didn’t. At least, there was no icon in the taskbar tray.
-
Thanks for the info, this is kinda what i was thinking of doing also, try testing it a few days.
But the thing is i’m already using fast startup for over 2 weeks now. It’s just over 2 weeks since i installed Windows 10.
But this is the 1st time that this has happened with Kaspersky Antivirus 2020 in over 2 weeks. I’m not saying it will happen again, but just wish i’d knew if it will and if fast startup is what caused the issue today.

Hello,
So i have fast startup enabled in Windows 10 and just noticed today when i turned on the PC that Kaspersky Antivirus didn’t start. By this i mean the KAV icon wasn’t in the taskbar tray.
I opened task manager but there was only 1 KAV exe.
Normally there 2 just like in this screenshot i attached.
Does Windows 10 fast startup mess with Kaspersky Antivirus startup ?
I mean is the fast startup too “fast” ? And it doesn’t give Kaspersky Antivirus actually time to startup properly ?
It never happened before only this is the 1st time.
Please if someone could reply, i’m really stressed out about this.
-
Well i think that back when i had Win 7, i think i did not have fast startup enabled on it. Only on Win 10 it seems fast startup is enabled by itself, but i like it because it boots to desktop well… fast 😄
Will definetly post here if it happens again. I hope it won’t though. 😄
Just one thing : if it does happen again, and it gets solved again after KAV updates itself 15-20 minutes after startup, should i leave it like that ?
If it happens again, do you think it’s worth to try the update the status of the license like it said on the old kaspersky forum ?
-
I’m not really sure. Today was the first time i saw it. It doesn’t happen always, at least i hope it won’t since today was the first time.
It was actually resolved by itself. After 15-20 minutes after i logged into windows, KAV updated itself without a problem and the issue was gone.
I think fast startup is enabled in my OS. Could it have something to do with that ?
Did the OS boot up too fast for KAV to recognize it had internet connection ?
Perhaps KAV couldn’t “detect” the internet connection right away because fast startup is enabled in the OS ?

Hi,
So today i just started my PC and when i logged into Windows 10 i saw a notification in which was saying
“Application databases not updated” and it also said “error resolving network name”
Any ideas why this happened ? I’m using Kaspersky Antivirus 2019.
Here is also a screenshot. I’m using a router, but i have an internet cable in my PC also.
Edit :
The issue seems to have dissappeared now after i waited about 15-20 min and KAV update itself.
I think i might have fast startup enabled in my Win 10. Was that the cause ?
Also i found on the web on the older kaspersky forums that someone said that updating the status of the license helps.

Guys thx for your answers. Just one more question.
Is winamp (latest version) also safe to use ?
I normally always use VLC and winamp. I know VLC can also play mp3 and mp4 but just wanted to know if latest version of winamp (5.8 i think) is also safe to use. I don’t know if the latest version is an actual official version of winamp.

Hello,
So back when i had Win 7 i would normally use VLC media player for movies and even music, but now i recently found an article that the more recent versions haven’t been so safe to use.
Here are a few links with the info.
https://lifehacker.com/you-should-wait-before-banning-vlc-from-your-computer-1836645438
https://www.techradar.com/news/vlc-player-has-critical-security-flaw
I recently installed Win 10 and normally back when i had Win 7 my choice for movies etc. was always VLC media player, but now i’m not so sure if i should install it.
Anyone have any ideas ?
Or is anyone using the latest version of VLC media player and not having any issues ?

Here’s the image.🙂

For me that shield is grey not green, that’s why i was asking.
-
This is what it says when i clicked the shield in addon.
-
Here are a few images.
In firefox in the upper right corner, the KAV icon is grey not green. Is it supposed to be like that.
This is a video i found, not sure if it’s relevant or not since i use KAV not KIS.

I would have, but my current license is for KAV 2016 so if go by the -1/+3 rule then i’d probably have to purchase a new license for KAV 2020.
On my current license i still have like 7-8 months and it works on KAV 2019. But when it expires i will probably get a new license for KAV 2020.
Also, one more thing. KAV 2019 installed an addon in firefox. In firefox in the addon menu it shows it’s enabled.
But when i look in the upper right corner i firefox, the icon for the addon is grey not green.
What happened ?
Was the installation of KAV 2019 on my PC messed up or something ? Or is it supposed to be like that, supposed to be grey not green ?

Hello,
So installed KAV 2019 but i accidentally unchecked KSN option when i installed it and forgot about it.
Should i have checked KSN ?
Is it something serious, should i reinstall KAV 2019 again and check it ?

I’m not sure if WD is disabled. I haven’t used the Group Policy yet, but i made a few print screens.
Can you please tell me if WD enabled or not ?
In “WD runing” the WD logo is still in the tray.
In “WD runing 2” it only says Kaspersky Antivirus in “Virus & threat protection”, it doesn’t say Windows defender.
In “WD runing 3” in task manager in details tab MsMpEng.exe is not present.
Can you please tell me if WD is disabled or not based on these photos ?
I have no idea.
-
So using policy method will still keep WD disabled even if i restart my PC a few times afterwards ?
-
So just to be clear, if u use option one from here
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5918-turn-off-windows-defender-antivirus-windows-10-a.html
Then will that disable WD and will stay disabled even if i restart my PC afterwards ?
Don’t know exactly what WPD is. I’m on Windows 10 Pro, forgot to mention this.
-
Back again.
Is the Group Policy method the best one ?
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5918-turn-off-windows-defender-antivirus-windows-10-a.html
Also if i restart my PC even if i disabled WD using the Group Policy method, then will WD enable itself again after i restarted my PC ?
-
Will “option one” from here work for disabling WD ?
Also, should i turn off only Real-Time Protection ? Or Tamper protection also ?
Or what is the best way to disable WD ?
I read on the web that even if you disable WD if you restart your PC then WD enables itself again.
Sorry but i’m kinda of a noob with WD and windows 10 also since it’s still pretty new to me.
-
So just to be clear if i uncheck the in KAV 2019 “Perform recommended actions automatically” then WD will NOT disable itself ??
That why is WD did not disable itself ?
I always have that option unchecked because in the past KAV would sometimes delete some stuff that i needed.
Also, if WD does NOT disable itself then should i disable it manually ?
-
If you have already reinstalled KAV or KIS then just activate it using the same code you had before formatting.
Windows 10 Fast Startup Disables Kaspersky Antivirus ? [MERGED]

@FLOOD
I might have been mistaken or maybe i’m not that good at IT and tech stuff. I took 2 screenshots because i might have gotten a bit mixed up.
In the 1st screenshot in the “Processes” column there 2 processes.
In the 2nd screenshot in the “Details” column there 2 exes but one is “avp.exe” and the other is “avpui.exe”.
When the issue was happening there was only 1 processes and 1 exe missing in the “Details” column.
I fully remember now, the exe that was missing in “Details” was “avpui.exe.”
I don’t know if that is actually the antivirus or just user interface, but KAV was not present in the taskbar tray when this happened and the “avpui.exe” was not present in the “Details” column.
Hope this helps. ☺
