  1. To check/set that WUS via Kaspersky is disabled:

    • KSC > admin agent policy > software updates
    • disable "... use as WSUS-Server"
    • disable "search for Windows-Updates"

We still had files in FTserver and WUSfiles and deleting it via the above mentioned KB didn't work for us.

So here I got from Support on how to manually delete said folders:

    • stop and disable kladminserver service
    • delete the folders "C:\ProgramData\KasperskyLab\adminkit\1093\.working\FTServer" and "C:\ProgramData\KasperskyLab\adminkit\1093\.working\wusfiles"
    • (I also deleted "C:\ProgramData\KasperskyLab\adminkit\1093\.working\share\Updates\updates\bin", as there were 12gb of old KES installations...)
    • set the following Registry keys:
      • for x64 operating system
      • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KasperskyLab\Components\34\1093\1.0.0.0\ServerFlags]
      • "KLSRV_UPGRD_AFTER_RESTORE"=dword:00000001
      • "KLSRV_UPGRD_FIRST_START"=dword:00000004
      • for x86 operating system
      • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KasperskyLab\Components\34\1093\1.0.0.0\ServerFlags]
      • "KLSRV_UPGRD_AFTER_RESTORE"=dword:00000001
      • "KLSRV_UPGRD_FIRST_START"=dword:00000004
    • start & enable kladminserver service
    • clean the software-updates folder as per https://support.kaspersky.com/de/15304
    • restart the server

That freed about 30gb of space on our server...

  2. Thanks! This looks very promising indeed... Unfortunately it doesn't help me: I only have 1 "installation task" besides a bunch of "update tasks" :-\ I even contacted Kaspersky Business Support, but although they responded and told me a few things I should try, nothing worked and no diskspace was gained... But as Win2k8R2 will be EOL in Jan. '20, I'm just gonna install a new Windows and Kaspersky server and I hope this issue doesn't crop up that soon again :-( cheers!
  3. I have no idea what the normal size would be, but I seem to have the same problem! The aforementioned directory is 5GB big; and we don't use KSC as WSUS!
    1. 4.3 gb = FTServer
    2. 500 mb = wusfiles
    3. 200 mb = fulltext
Another big junk is this directory: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Security Center\Share\Updates\updates\bin" Although the AV-Bases should be around 450mb (as detailed in KSC > "Updates and Patches"), the bin directory has the following sub-dirs:
    1. 1 gb = kes11_cm56
    2. 1 gb = kes11_cm
All-in-all KSC + Kaspersky for Server need about:
    1. 4.5 gb = C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab
    2. 1.2 gb = C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab
    3. 5.4 gb = C:\ProgramData\KasperskyLab
    4. plus another 500mb for the SQL DB
This seems a bit much imho! Any info if these sizes are in fact OK or if there are some old/unneeded cache directories which can just be deleted would be really appreciated! Thanks, Markus
