@Berny Is there any recorded incident where malware in external HD managed to spread to the system where KRD was running?

Thank you @Berny for welcoming and helping out! So, what is the best settings to make such an operation safely: Scanning a suspect external HDD without getting the hardware infected?

I need to burn and scan some contents of a suspect external drive. If there is no sandboxing/isolation already exists, then malware may infect the rest of the system’ hardware, attached storage, or network/router, right? Please explain what kind of sandboxing or application isolation does Kaspersky Rescue Disk provide, and if it is activated on boot or need user intervention? and for what applications? And if there is a safer way to copy/burn from this drive?
