Exkerminate

I have KIS on Mojave and Big Sur. On both, initially all appears to be well, but if I run a terminal window with a ping eventually it will stop, and all my network traffic essentially appears to get black holed, at which point I have to reboot to re-enable. I haven’t been able to figure out why, anyone else have similar experiences?
