Hello @FLOOD @Berny , The re-install seems to have worked to some extent. Now there is a root-kit scan performed only once everyday i.e. when I start up my computer in the morning, which is bearable. Thanks for your advice.

Hello @Berny, Have re-installed KIS, and the first rootkit scan is already being performed. Will have to wait and see if it keeps doing so every few hours like earlier. Will update soon. Thanks

Hello @FLOOD, Thank you for your prompt and detailed reply. Below are some insights: (A) Postpone computer scan tasks when the CPU and disk systems are at high load is checked (B) Tried Exporting, and restoring settings, did not work. (C) Even after shutdown, the problem persists. (D) I have re-installed KIS so don’t have the Detailed reports of 7 days. Will update with an attachment in a day or two. P.S. First rootkit scan has already begun after the re-install Thanks

KIS keeps running rootkit scan every few hours automatically even after disabling ‘Search for software that is intended to conceal traces of malicious program in the system (rootkits)’ checkbox. Can someone please tell me what is going on and how do I stop it?
