If you after installing Kaspersky Personal from version 5.0.227 + Personal Pro from version 5.0.372, experience a loss of connection, or have unforced reboots, then this may be because the IDS/networkprotection (Intrusion detection system) conflicts with your softwarefirewall if you use one. This is perfectly safe as long as you have a fully functional firewall installed.

Note to those who do use the IDS/networkprotection: "Do not use Stealth Mode if you are sharing files on a network, it will block all network traffic between networked computers"

The first step in troubleshooting is to disable the IDS, which can be done in two ways:

1. If kaspersky is already installed, you open the main window (rightclick on the red "K" and leftclick "Open kaspersky Anti-Virus"), in the main window you leftclick the settingstab and choose "Configure Real-Time Protection", a new window opens and you now choose "Troubleshooting" ("Real-time protection settings from 5.0.325), this window opens:

5.0.227, 5.0.228:

Here you checkmark the last box "Do not enable protection against networkattacks at system startup", click Ok in the next two windows and reboot.

In 5.0.325 or newer it looks like this:

Here you checkmark "Disable protection against network attacks"", click Ok in the next two windows and reboot.

In 5.0.372 or newer Personal Pro you disable it here:

2. There is also the possibility to disable the IDS during the install. You will during the install encounter this window:

Here you uncheck "Operate according to recommended settings", click next and proceed to the next window:

Here you uncheck "Use real-time protection against network attacks" (this is also where you disable the iStreams technology, if you so wish), click next and finish the install as you would normally do.

Important: IDS is a part of the firewall, and it cannot replace a fully functional firewall on your computer. Kaspersky Labs recommends you to use this system (Intrusion Detection System) only if you do not have a personal firewall on your PC. In order to have full control over network activity on your computer (control over applications' network activities, packet filtering) we recommend to use a fully functional personal firewall

In the latest version 5.0.676, you won't have to uncheck "Operate according to recommended settings" to be able to uncheck "Protection against networkattacks" during the install.
