KAV wrongly pointing SUMo is incompatible product during install [un cross posted]

Recommended Posts

KAV wrongly pointing  SUMo is incompatible product during install.

This looks like a very unfair method to promote K Updater and/or an obvious false positive from KAV installers.

Many of our users are complaining about this and uninstalling KAV from their system because of this (and loosing trust in KAV).

Is there something KAV support team can do about it ?

Olli_S, I hope you're reverted back to SUMo after this :-)

(even if flagged by KAV due to false positive in their detection engine at install time)

In addition to what i n d i o and Berny have stated, are you using the latest version of SUMo? Like 5.8.8.410 ? According to a site that checked this software (DEC 15th 2018), against virtually all Anti-Malware softwares scans, it comes up Clean. Kaspersky included. I thought maybe you were using an outdated version that had some issues prior.

Hello Kyle. Can you tell me when version 5.89 will become available for SUMo? I know you're a programmer for this SUMo software, and perhaps the only one, and I figure out of all people, you would know about the releases and their dates. Thanks. On a sidenote, I'm surprised you haven't mentioned Kaspersky has seen reports of this software getting blocked as far back as 2013. In 2018 alone, there were reports given to Kaspersky in May, August, Oct., and not Dec. Rather curious why this is such an ongoing venture for blocking and reports. I realize its a direct competitor to Kaspersky's Software Updater, but still...Thanks again

This works fine... but WHY is KAV asking SUMo users to uninstall SUMo ? This is wrong and UNFAIR !

I am using SUMo and KAV 2019 and there is no false positive or any other flagging of SUMo.

Are you using the regular version or a Lite version or portable? Thanks

Nevermind..I got the scoop on KC softwares and what's going on with it and Anti-Malware programs going back to Aug/Sept 2007 for SUMo.

Installing Sumo Lite or Portable alongside Kaspersky is no problem.

Also, please let's all wait now for an official reply from Kaspersky Lab Technical Support

Problem reported by users was when K was installed on a system where SUMo was already present => K asked to uninstall SUMo.

I'll ask my users to come and post more details.
