I've just spent 5 hours fighting through my first experience of Kaspersky locking up an email client.

I've heard about it for other providers but this is the first time I've had an issue so I didnt believe it could be kis and was pursuing other possibilities.

Thunderbird hangs so badly you have to restart the pc - the process cannot be killed.

I set up file exclusions on the mail folders but that didnt do anything so I've had to turn off the mail protection component.

Running kis v19.0.0.1088(a) on win10 and its the same issue on a 64bit laptop and a 32bit desktop. Everything is set to auto-update.

I have the same problem.

Only solution I have found is to pause protection for one minute to download all emails.  Then only open those emails I know to be OK(trusted senders).

Same problem me to.

I have spend lot of time to understand why thunderbird was blocked. I have to disable the protection to work! 

The problem is the same also with running thunderbird in safe mode (without plugin))

I have the same problem since 4 p.m. with several email addresses. Doesn't matter if the email have attachments or not. One minute pause solves the hang, but is not really a solution. Deaktivating the web and data protection have no influence.

I have the same problem since about 2:30 PM. When I close KIS everything works fine. In some cases Thunderbird even locks up when I look at old emails, or when I change the read/unread flag.

Thunderbird is up to date KIS 18.0.0.405 h.

I also have the "0 B"-Message-Problem since a few days like a lot of other people. What about you - the other posters?

I have same problem on five PC. KIS randomly blocks Mozilla Thunderbird (Thunderbird looks like jammed and can not be stopped). If KIS pauses, TB will normally start.

(Windows 7 64-bit, KIS 18 or 19, Mozilla Thunderbird 52.x)

I've actually had to totally disable file av in order to access emails in thunderbird.

The exclusion of the email account folders (with *.* mask) made no difference.

Hi,

Same problem with The Bat! v8.5.2 with gmail accounts.

Support ticket opened.

I confirm than pausing protection for one minute to download all emails works.

I am running into this issue as well on multiple computers around our office. Running the newest update of TBird 52.9.0 as well as the updated KES 11.0.0.6499. There's around 40 nodes in office however this problem isn't affection all of them.

Hi,

The Bat! v8.5.2 problem with gmail accounts and KTS 2019 solved with the version 8.5.6.

This  version resolves TLS 1.2 compatibility issues. Connection failures were  caused by mail server servers which aborted the connection unless The  Bat! sends signature_algorithms ClientHello extension on TLS 1.2. To  resolve this incompatibility, The Bat! since version 8.5.4 always sends  the signature_algorithms extension during TLS 1.2 handshake.
