Win10 1803 and KES10 SP2 MR1

Recommended Posts

we normally install an insider preview and try the latest KES version on it. Normally that works (KES can be installed and works).

This time, we installed Win10 1803 (Build 17115.1) and tried KES 10 SP2 MR1 (10.3.0.6294) but that did not work.

Do I need the upcoming KES11 for Win10 1803 or should KES10SP2MR1 also work?

when I use the autonomous package from KSC (10.4.343), then I get:

when I use the MSI, I can install it but after that, I get:

Will KES10SP2MR1 be compatible to Win10 1803?

Hello!

Yes, it will be compatible, but right now the latest version supported is 1709.

Thanks!

So do you think that this problem is caused by the insider preview and the stable (and released) 1803 will work?

As I said in former insider preview versions the latest KES10 could be installed without a problem.

so am I right that microsoft changed something so that KES10SP2MR1 is not compatible to Win10 1803 anymore?

But why can’t I install KES10SP2MR1 on Win10 1803 (insider preview)? When MS did not change anything why is KES10SP2MR1 not working properly on the insider preview?

Many companies do not provide support for unreleased Final Operating Systems. Sometimes programs are hardcoded with supported build numbers that either prevent installation or prevent features from working. Sometimes it is a tiny or large change in the OS.

Interestingly I was able to install the new KES11 Beta/RC (which was launched today) without any problem. I am still of the opinion that there is/will be a compatibility issue to Win10 1803 (and KES10SP2MR1).

Please do NOT attempt to install MR1 on 1803 RTM.

I did so stupidly and it bricked my system.

If you did install it, the only way to recover is to hard reset your computer, and when you start windows be prepared to shut KES from taskbar (right-click, exit, yes) if youre lucky youll be able to shut it before it enables components and freezes. Once you shut it, you can uninstall (right click start menu, run, appwiz.cpl and remove it from there. (metro/modern uninstall programs won't allow you to uninstall (it's grayed out).

Posted (edited)

Since my computer stopped working afterwards, I had to go back to 1709 version. My entire PC froze, like @jackmonter5 told earlier. Not saying it is Kaspersky, but I can't provide GSI log now...

I'm running the log thing now and I'll provide you with what I've got, but won't be any good probably.

I would suggest that you try to use KES11, it was released yesterday.

In my case, I only test new (insider preview) versions on dedicated virtual machines, no productive use! Sometimes that shows incompatibility of software and OS but most of the time it works (released software on new OS versions).

Additionally I read that Microsoft canceled/delayed the release of 1803 yesterday because of a major bug.
