Slow performance

9 posts in this topic

I'm using new Kaspersky Personal. I've experienced big performance loss on my computer. Programs start much slower, real-time scanning is slow especially when it scans big files. :( For example if you have big exe file (200mb), scanning of that file makes your system unusuable (hard disk working) for about 1min as opposed to some other AV programs which scan that same file for about 1sec  . Kaspersky AV has best detection but I think that scanning of files is still too slow and that's why many people start using other AV products. I've read about iStreams and other technologies which should help but does iStreams really help because updates comes every 3 hours and then all files are newly scanned <_< . I hope new KAV with option to scan only new and changed files will be much faster because for me, slow performance is only defect of this program. B)

If an AV scans such a file in 1 sec then it definitely doesn't scan inside the exe archive. KAV has a powerful unpacker and therefore fully scans the contents of most archive types. Of course the scan time is also depending on your computer hardware (CPU, RAM, chipset).

I suggest that you exclude the big archives from the on-demand scan (Configure On-Demand Scan > On-Demand Scan Settings > Do not scan packed executable files / Do not scan archives). You will not loose protection since all archives are scanned by the real-time scanner when opened or executed.

It would be interesting to know the performance data of a full scan of your computer (number of files, total time) to get an idea whether scanning works slow or normal. But please first exclude the big archives.

I myself have had the same troubles as you claim my computer will get bogged down when it scan's in the background.

Could you please tell us some more details?

1) To what version do you refer when you are saying "Before in 40 minutes"?

2) Have you disabled the "Protection against network attacks" in 5.0.383?

You surely have performed a full on-demand scan of your computer. Did it find any malware?

What AV had you installed prior to KAV 5.0.383?

And when it twirled the Scan not, delayed and it did not waint and

KAV, was not thus.

I did not find nothing passed scan of the KAV, SPYBOT and ZONEALARM.
