utopia.net malware

Recommended Posts

I've completed full scans of my laptop. Kaspersky does not detect utopia.net malware on the device. IPconfig showed that the DNS had been hijacked to utopia.net Vs my ISP DNS. I had to put in static DNS entries on each network card. Is there a Kaspersky tool that detects and removes this virus? An Internet search on utopia.net malware lists several other anti-virus tools to remove the virus. I obviously do not want to buy another subscription if I'm paying Kaspersky for this service. Please advise

If you are using a router, reset the router, change the router password to a strong password, enter the correct information according to your internet providers instructions, then clear browser cache and cookies, reboot.

Any better after that?

If still no go, please see: Kaspersky Lab Forum > English User Forum > Virus-related issues > the second Important topic. There, you will find instructions for GSI and AVZ logs.

Also, in addition to the instructions posted above,

I just want to share what one person said was a fix with their antivirus software.

I was finally able to get rid of utopia.net and get back on to "hsd1.ca.comcast.net, by using my avast internet security program.
1: Go to network, and in avast, if it says that utopia.net is your network, turn it off.
Then, go to Firewall - settings - network profiles, and then going down the list until  you see  "utopia.net" in the list of network profiles.  Delete it using the right click drop-down menu.

Restart computer.
Bingo! no more utopia.net now my connection looks square."
