Docker - Windows containers [In progress]

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I'm new to forums so i'm not sure if this is the right place to open this topic.

Anyway, i have problem. Trying to pull a new windows based image for docker is somehow blocked by some antivirus softwares. My corporation uses kaspersky endpoint security and we couldn't find a solution but to uninstall it to solve this. Disabling or adding exclusion rules didn't work.

Here is the error caused by av,

C:\Users\koray>docker pull microsoft/nanoserver
Using default tag: latest
latest: Pulling from microsoft/nanoserver
bce2fbc256ea: Extracting [==================================================>] 252.7 MB/252.7 MB
4a8c367fd46d: Download complete
failed to register layer: re-exec error: exit status 1: output: ProcessUtilityVMImage C:\ProgramData\Docker\windowsfilter\32aaac762f3a60ee92ce65f24de79e8c76e48ac2e92da439a086e8d2ef14c17f\UtilityVM: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Here is an open topic if you wish to get more details about it,

https://github.com/Microsoft/Virtualization...tion/issues/355

Any ideas?

Endpoint Security 10.3.0.6294 AES256

Hello!

Is it possible to add the programm to the trusted zone in Kes or policy for this KES?

Thanks!

Tried everything. It doesn't work. As you can see in the link which i posted, this is a common problem with av softwares. Looks like the only way is to uninstall av software which is not a suitable method. I would be very happy if someone else tries to install and checks the result themselves.

Thank you all for your concern :)

Could you please post some screenshots with the programm added to trusted?

What exactly components do cause the trouble?

Thanks!

A lot of people across a lot of AV software platforms are unfortunately having this same issue

I'm running Kaspersky Total Security 17.0.0.611

And everyone reaches the same conclusion that the only way to fix the problem is by uninstalling the AV

OP linked the github issues but here's MS's guidance on AV and containers

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-ha...dows-containers

Here's the github issue

https://github.com/Microsoft/Virtualization...tion/issues/355

And here are the steps for setting up docker containers on windows

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualiza...tart-windows-10

I'm guessing (hoping) if you try the steps listed in there on a windows 10 system with Kaspersky installed you'll have the same issue. So far I haven't found anyone that's been able to get around the issue outside of just uninstalling the AV software

Please note that Home and Business Kaspersky products are developed independently, use different driver versions etc. This means that the issues across the two are likely either unrelated, or caused by the other party's software (MS in this case). Also please note that this forum is dedicated solely to business products. For KIS/KTS issues, please visit this section: https://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showforum=156

Thank you.
