Thunderbird is very slow with Enpoint 10 [Fixed][Bug # 2036931 ]

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I recently installed KAV Endpoint 10 64bits on my computer (i5, 8Go RAM, SSD) on Ubuntu 16.04.

When I use thunderbird, it's very slow :

- 5-10 seconds to send an email (freeze when "Copy to sended message")

- 2 seconds to archive an email

- severals seconds before search mails

Before install it, thunderbid sent, search, and archive email immediatly.

I see that it is KAV in top command.

For example, I wait 9 seconds when I sent an email of 9,6ko with following process in "top":

1186 root 20 0 2716572 427892 15376 S 99,7 5,2 17:30.60 kav4fs

Do you have a solution ?

Thanks,

Hello.

Please provide additional details in order to analyze this issue:

1. Try disabling real-time protection to see if this resolves the issue, and let us know the result:

/opt/kaspersky/kesl/bin/kesl-control --stop-task 1

2. While the issue is present, enable tracing:

/opt/kaspersky/kesl/bin/kesl-control --set-app-set TraceLevel=Detailed

Reproduce the issue (one or several actions as you described earlier, also let us know the steps you took)

3. Collect the most recent trace file:

/var/log/kaspersky/kesl/kesl.<date>.log

and provide it

4. Export settings you are using and provide them:

/opt/kaspersky/kesl/bin/kesl-control --get-settings 1

Thank you!

1. When I stop this task, problem is solved

2. I make what you say, I send an email and I extract from log the period of sending small mail (54 seconds, between 13:46:00 and 13:46:54) and this extracted log file make 253MB.

When I read the log, I understood that :

Thunderbird send the mail quickly and it save email to "Sended message" during 54 seconds.

I think it's because Kaspersky scan all emails in folder "Sended" before permit Thunderbird to save this email.

- I see in the log subject of all my sended email. For information I have 2622 email sended (IMAP also), it is why it's slow.

- I also see that Kaspersky scan all Event in my CalDav calendar configured in Lightning module.

3. Compressed log size 13MBytes. I can't upload it.

4. Bellow result of your command :

ScanArchived=No

ScanSfxArchived=No

ScanMailBases=No

ScanPlainMail=No

UseTimeLimit=Yes

TimeLimit=60

UseSizeLimit=No

SizeLimit=0

FirstAction=Recommended

SecondAction=Block

UseExcludeMasks=No

UseExcludeThreats=No

ReportCleanObjects=No

ReportPackedObjects=No

ReportUnprocessedObjects=No

UseAnalyzer=Yes

HeuristicLevel=Recommended

UseIChecker=Yes

ScanByAccessType=SmartCheck

[scanScope.item_0000]

AreaDesc=All objects

UseScanArea=Yes

Path=/

AreaMask.item_0000=*

Is it normal ?

How I can revert this command :

/opt/kaspersky/kesl/bin/kesl-control --set-app-set TraceLevel=Detailed

No output is normal, the suggested commands disabled mail bases and attachments scanning. This was diagnostic in order to see if the server load reduces and Thunderbird performance improves. Please let us know.

To revert tracelevel, run

/opt/kaspersky/kesl/bin/kesl-control --set-app-set TraceLevel=None

Thank you.
