Kaspersky Downloader cannot be opened because of a problem

Recommended Posts

I am trying to download Kaspersky Internet Security Multi-Device onto a Mac OS X 10.6.8 system. The software has a 2014 copyright date, so I'm not sure it is the Kaspersky 2015 software or not. My father in law got it on ebay I believe. I tried following the instructions, going to mac.kaspersky.com, downloading the installer, and then the following message pops up:

Kaspersky Downloader cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Kaspersky Downloader works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.

I believe all prior Kaspersky applications are deleted/uninstalled off the computer. I also emptied the trash and restarted the computer. I installed the Apple Software Installer Update 1.0 per advice on another forum and restarted the computer. I still get the same message when I try to open the installer.
