Windows 8.1: How to install? New installer?

Recommended Posts

I read it, of course. What I mean is the locale version (italian in my case).

I'm afraid it will take some time until localizations other than US-english will be available. Why not temporarily install the US version, activated as test version?

Has the installer for KAV2014 on the UK site been updated with the b patch for Win8.1?

Thanks.

No doesn't appear to have been yet.

Would be nice of Kaspersky to get this out to UK users ASAP. I'm sitting with an offline Win 8.1 box because the current installer won't work in that environment. May have to consider other options if these delays continue.

Download it from KL USA: http://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/software-upgrades. Installers for KAV/KIS 2014 have been updated with patch b.

@DonKid, we have posted at the same time :-)

I know the US version is available, but I've been checking the UK servers and there's no update.

Hi guys,

you're sure the english installer with patch b included will work on Win 8.1? I upgraded yesterday to Win 8.1. In Win 8 KIS 2014 with patch B!! was installed. After the upgrade, the first boot of Win 8.1 worked without any problem. Then I restarted the pc and got a bluescreen error 0x0000007e with klif.inf (or .sys). I went to save mode, disabled via msconfig the kaspersky service and after a twice reboot Win 8.1 starts again. Today I downloaded the kis14.0.0.4651aEN_4879.exe from the us site, but after I've started the installation i get an error message which says: Failed to install the application. This application could not be installed. Current operating system is not supported. Winver shows Version 6.3 Build 9600 Win 8.1 Pro.

Any suggestions?

Sam

You should have downloaded the abEN_5096 version.

I have had the worst time since computers began updating to Windows 8.1. After it messed up my entire Windows install I have wiped clear and reinstalled from scratch Windows 8 then updated it again.

Only to be greated with Kaspersky IS does not support this operating system on trying to install this.

If I download the american version are there any nasty surprises I need to know - such as for example it only using American servers for definition updates or block the firewall block UK versions of apps/websites or whatever else could jump out down the line.

Edit: merged. And add quote of the solution:

All other versions will be released in a few work days.

Hi Sergey Krugletsov,

I think that mikolx is referring to Home User product Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014.

mikolx: If you are, you posted in the Business section of this forum. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 is a Home User product. En installer for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 for windows 8.1 is here: http://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/software-upgrades

Other localizations are anticipated in a few days or so.

I have installed W8.1 now on general release. I was informed that several add-ons were incompatible with IE 11, all of them being Kasperky add-ons. Tried updating from KIS 2013 to 2014, told cannot because of system incompatibility.

Decided to remove KIS 2013 and try installing again. Same answer. Now I have no KIS at all! cannot install 2014, and cannot re-install 2013. Can anyone help PLEASE ??

KIS 2013 cannot be installed directly on Windows 8.1 because there is no updated installer yet, only a patch. To use KIS 2013 on Windows 8.1 you have to do this: 1. Install Windows 8.0. 2. Install KIS 2013 and patch it to the most recent version. 3. Upgrade to Windows 8.1.

If you want to install KIS 2014 directly on Windows 8.1, you need the most recent installer. It is only available in English at this moment. It can be found here:

http://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/software-upgrades

For all other languages you either have to wait for the release of a new installer or do the same procedure as with KIS 2013.

Hi!

I'm a first time user of Kaspersky Internet Security. I downloaded the latest one (2014) today.

When I opened the extension file, it installed the software half way and then stopped saying that the OS in incompatible.

I am using the recently updated Windows 8.1 Single Language. I understand that a patch is available for download on the US Kaspersky Website but not for any other languages. :icon20:

Please could you tell me when the upgrade for Indian users will be available. I've only got the installation file so far but I haven't installed or activated it as yet.

I would like to activate it as soon as possible.

Thank you! :)

Hi All,

My friends those who have upgraded to windows 8.1 and are using the kaspersky internet security suite 2014. Request you to uninstall the KIS 2014 and download the new version from the below link.

http://usa.kaspersky.com/files/?file=kis&a...ternet+Security

I'm form Asia and have downloaded this version and have installed it on Windows 8.1 Pro and have had 0 issues so far. Installation took only 6 to 8 minutes to complete. I hope this helps all the other who have struggled to download the correct version to suite windows 8.1.

File name is kis2014_14.0.0.4651abEN_5096.exe

Regards,

Looks like an updated version has been added to the UK site, but the file name is kav14.0.0.4651aEN_4876.exe. Does this mean that it doesn't include the b patch? Will this install on Win8.1?
