Massive log files by KIS 13

Hi, I found that KIS was using up approx 70GB of HDD space under Application Data, storing what looks like log files. One of the files was 40GB alone. I've deleted them, as I can't afford to use that much space, but as you'd expect they have reappeared.

 

The file "KAV.13.0.1.4190c_11.23_07.19_3420.SRV.log.enc1" has grown to 200MB in half an hour and doesn't seem to stop growing. Are there any ways of stopping these massive files being generated?

You must have activate Traces.

Support >>tools for support >>traces

Deactivate traces and remove the log files manualy.

Thanks I had been waiting for over a day for support to help, and the logs had taken 110 of my 180 G SSD drive. Your help means I have recovered my hs space and can continue working. BTW its seems KIS2013 comes autoactivated for traces.

KIS 2012 13.0.1.4190

What makes you think it doesnt?

I never enabled traces and this is a fresh install on a freshly built PC taking the deafualt settings to install on Windows 8.

This thread at least help me track down how to stop this issue and move on.

I am suprised though its been almost two days and no reply to my ticket.

I could close it but it would be nice to think that support could review a ticket with this symptom and diagnose quickly.

BTW its seems KIS2013 comes autoactivated for traces.

I have never seen that in all my installations over the last 8 years.

I too have this same problem. Few days back my PC started to slow down but i didn't worried too much but today my whole os drive is full, which i remember to having about 100GB free space. Then with some soft i came to realize that it was kaspersky log files (especially *.SRV.log.enc1 files) took all space and i know for sure i havn't changed any settings at all.My kaspersky version is also same as above - 13.0.1.4190.

I find it quite shocking that whatever creates these files is turned on by default.

 

I built a new machine mid-July with clean installs of everything, so Kaspersky was starting off with a clean slate. I had never used KIS before, so I certainly didn't know enough about the program yet to do anything other than going with the default settings. My boot drive was a 512 GB SSD. Within one month of operation, my disk was full.

 

Long story short? Of about 500 GB of used space, 380 GB was due to the Kaspersky Labs folder in my Hidden ProgramData folder, with almost all of that being ENC1 files.

 

So forum moderators -- tell your bosses that they are ~ING UP. I had ONE piece of software that I installed off a DVD, and that was Windows. EVERY SINGLE OTHER PROGRAM I installed was a digital download. Kaspersky, whatever your default settings are, they are not in touch with the reality of how people purchase and install software. Maybe in former Soviet Russia you still get programs on DVDs, or CDs, or Floppies, but that is not the case in the US.

Hello,

 

I have Windows 8.1, Kaspersky Internet security 2014

 

In this directory

C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\

I have 75 Gb (Gb!) Kaspersky files with extensions .enc1

and also few .dump.zip and a lot of 1Kb .log

 

It takes much place on system disk...

 

Is there a sure way to delete unnecessary Kaspersky updates?

Welcome. You can delete the .enc files but you must disable traces first and maybe disable self defense. http://support.kaspersky.com/us/9078

 

Regarding the .dmp files, how recent are they? Please post the link of your GetSystemInfo report by following the four steps outlined here: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?s=&am...post&p=5395

Do I reenable Traces?

2.

and Self defense is now deactivated

Do I reactivate it

and periodically deactivate it for removing .enc1 and .log files

and then reactivate, etc.?

(It should work fine but it seems not an elegant computing solution; isn't it?)

Umm I never changed any settings for logging and my 2013 generated over 660G of log files to my SSD before I got that wonderful msg that my SSD was full and my recover points had been wiped to attempt to free up space. My wife on the same license had it fill her 120G boot SSD while I was out at work, again default installation settings. So there is still a problem with it doing this.

 

Is there a fix going in for this or are people going to be told operator error still.

I only figured out it was KIS by doing a space analysis with perfect disk and finding that the file association was tied to KIS :P

The problem needs investigation, as by default tracing is switched OFF. The best proof here would be comparing times when KIS was installed and when first traces were created.

 

Do you by chance have this files still on your PC? If yes, please contact Tech Support, as indicated in item #6: https://support.kaspersky.com/us/9915#block6

I don't have them on the SSD but I might have a partial on the IBM hybrid drive I pulled from the laptop in december. When I get home from this job I will confirm and forward what I have. Also my daughter's system installed about the same time so perhaps there is a system intact with the same condition to provide a better log. When we bring her home after college I will confirm and forward that if true.

Those files are not trace files, they are crash dumps, can you please provide a screenshot of these files, with the columns widened to show the full file name and file size.

I have encountered the same problem - 270GB taken up by ENC1 files since April 2014... Never enabled the function.

 

I have then followed the 4 steps and created the SDD report before deleting the files - here is the link: http://www.getsysteminfo.com/read.php?file...01d14a44b5f4276

 

Please advise if I need to repeat this every few months of there is a way to avoid this. Best wishes,

I have encountered the same problem; 3.3 GB taken up by DMP.ENC1 files since June 2014. I noticed the Dump files when I found that disk space on C: drive was greatly reduced.

 

Here's the Snapshot of the Dump files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab\

Kindly advise me whether I can delete the DMP.ENC1 files since they are taking too much space in the OS drive partition (C:drive).

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp.080413-2111)

Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz (2 CPUs)

Memory: 3070MB RAM

Welcome. XP is the new Win2K. Not good. You can pile all of the anti-viruses high into the sky, but XP is still

.

No more Windows security updates.

XP is now food for worms. And trojans. Please move to an operating system that is still supported by Microsoft.

 

After that, please delete those files.

 

After that, please clean install version 2015. Clean install instructions, download links and answers to frequently asked questions are located in the first and second Important topics.

After you clean install version 2015, do a databases update > reboot.

Any better with the current version?
