Is there any update on this? I've gotten the runaround from Kaspersky on dealing with the issue. t is flooding our logs, and obviously we don't want to exclude Chrome.

@IztokK with all due respect IGNORE, UNINSTALL, RE-INSTALL, RE-CREATE, DISABLE PROTECTION is not valid solution. It's very hard that my director is seeing all sorts of events like this or blocked by Self-Defense and when he ask question the only thing that I can say is "ignore" as no one from Kaspersky cannot give me ANY answer or just assurance that "there is a problem and we working on it". This is not very professional IMHO.

Is there still no solution to this problem?

We recieve "Processing errors" of Chrome.exe, SVCHOST.exe and JAVA.exe using KES 8.1.0.831 and KSC 9.2.69.

Event type: Processing error

Application\Name: CHROME.EXE

Application\Process ID: 6596

Object\Name: JumpListIconsOld

Reason: Read error

Reinstalling and adding an exception for chrome.exe didn´t solve the problem.

If its really no big deal as said above, why is it shown in the Log-Files?

I don´t wanna scroll through hundreds of entrys just in case there is something really critical.

On the other side, its IMO no option to exclude programs from the scan, when they throw "critical events".

Any help is welcome!

I also have the same problem, as described in the previous posts. It happens whenever I run Chrome. I'm using Endpoint Security 8 for Windows, build 8.1.0.831(a). Initially my PC was not controlled by a centralised policy. I was able to manually add an exclusion for the folder shown in the error message directly from my PC's Kaspersky Endpoint. This appeared to work, preventing the errors being recorded. However, I have since implemented a centralised policy for my PCs. I've tried adding the same rule in various forms into the centralised policy to exclude the problem folder but nothing works. I still always get the error message.

Any idea when a fix will be available for the problem? It's not very convenient having critical messages appear and then having to check them carefully in case there are any genuine critical situations. Thank you.

Try adding the following exception under Antivirus Protection => General Protection Settings -> Settings (under Exclusions & trusted zone) -> Add (under Exclusion Rules tab):

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\

Hi - I added that exclusion in my central policy, which applies to my computer. But it didn't make any difference. It's not working when done via a policy. As mentioned previously, I could only get an exclusion to work for this when I applied it locally, before my PC was controlled by the central policy. Any other ideas?

Hi Malc - please post the error message you are getting and any particulars that may be specific to your case - like the text used for your exception. We need to make sure your drive letter is the same.

Also, do you have any child policies or just the default policy ("Protection Policy")? In any event, make sure your setting for your policies under "Activity and Inheritance" are set appropriately. If the exception is in the parent policy make sure "Inherit settings from parent policy" is enabled. If the exception is only in the child policy but not in the parent policy then you may want to force it to use the child policy by enabling the "Force inheritance of settings in the child policies".

Hi Bahamas,

Thanks for the advice. I've actually just now solved the problem. My default policy for workstations was using the exclusion C:\Users\$username%\... etc. My username is mdunn but my profile is at C:\Users\Malc. I think that may be because I had renamed my username at some point. So I've now changed the exclusion to be %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\ which now prevents the error. Is it in general better to use %userprofile% for these types of exclusions, in case the profile is not the same name as the username or is not on C:?

Thanks cariocap, I'll keep v10 in mind. I'm using v8 and will stick with it for now, as I've worked around my chrome issue.

Excellent catch Malc. I am delighted you got this solved and happy to have stirred you in the right direction. Although each admin has his/her preferences and know their systems better than we do, using %userprofile% in this case is splendid - and indeed a better "general" solution. I will definitely give that a shot. Thanks as well.

Other variables for members reading this post to consider are %LOCALAPPDATA% or %SystemDrive% or %HOMEDRIVE% - to name a few

Hi Malc,

Interesting that this worked for you. It has not solved it for me.

I see almost the same error from Java and Adobe Flash. I find it's usually the programs that auto update in the background that trigger this error.
