Kaspersky breaking justin.tv & twitch.tv player

32 posts in this topic

Hello, I have been having some issues with justin.tv & twitch.tv when using Kaspersky Internet Security 2012. Basically, for the last month or two (this is a recent problem) whenever I go to view a stream on either justin.tv or twitch.tv my browser (both Firefox and Chrome have this problem) constantly freezes every 5-10 seconds making it unbearable to watch any streams. This is definitely an issue with Kaspersky because if I turn off live protection I no longer have any issues with my browser freezing. I am currently using the most recent version of Kaspersky Internet Security 2012. I also tried tested it with an older version of Kaspersky 2011 on another computer and sure enough it also has the same problem. As you can see this is a pretty serious issue seeing as it's now pretty much impossible to view anything on these two websites. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

also having the same problem in firefox but on internet explorer the page load up fine. only way to watch with firefox is to pause kaspersky, open up the page, then resume kaspersky, which can be annoying.

didn't use to have this problem a few months ago, but i guess update mess something up.

I am also having the same issue. It is happening in chrome and firefox; I have not tried internet explorer. The only way it works for me is for me to exit KIS completely, start the stream, load the chat, and then enable again.

If the video player on either websites uses a local plugin, add the plugin to the trusted applications. Does that change anything?

Local plugin?

anyway to check that?

Also adding firefox plugin container to trusted would kind of defeat the purpouse of Kaspersky.

Seems you have to disable File Antivirus protection to fix this problem. Once the chat box loads your OK to enable protection again which is a hassle. Chrome and Firefox are the ones having this issue. Any idea if there is a permanent fix without having to make ourselves vulnerable?

Please clean install Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012.

Clean install instructions, links and tips are located in the second and third Important topics. After you clean install Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012, do a databases update > reboot.

If still no go after that, please contact Tech Support, as mentioned and linked in this topic thread.

Every Kaspersky user seems to suffer from this problem. When you google for the problem you'll see that it's been over a month now and there's still no fix in sight?!

Is the problem with Kaspersky antivirus and the Jtv and Twitchtv chats going to be resolved anytime soon? If you don't know, Kaspersky causes the chat windows to take a long time to load, temporarily freezing them and the browser. This is a documented problem, and seems like a significant problem as these are popular websites. If this isn't resolved, I am going to have to disable and or uninstall the program and get my services elsewhere. I have the worst luck with electronics and computers. I always seem to draw the short straw lol.

Im having a similar issue, if I open a twitch.tv stream with kaspersky components fully enabled it gets spikes and freezes, sometimes freezes for a long time and I close it (web page stops responding, I close it) and it thinks its a crash. This is happening to me while using Google Chrome, internet explorer seems to be fine. Also, when I paused KIS protection and opened up the stream on twitch.tv let it load then resume KIS protection the page doesnt have any issues.

GSI info
