Kaspersky disables mouse

Recommended Posts

Hello. Could not uninstall Kaspersky Pure so I downloaded kav remover tool from kaspersky site. Uninstallation went fine but after reboot mouse cursor freezes. To get mouse working again I had to navigate with keyboard and do system restore, but then I get this kaspersky again on my PC. Tried that again, result the same - mouse gets disabled. So how to uninstall it? Running Win XP 32 bit.

Welcome.

Could not uninstall Kaspersky Pure...
Please elaborate: What happens when you try to uninstall PURE normally?

1. Click here to download the GetSystemInfo tool

2. Run getsysteminfo.exe. Choose where you wish to save the text file, the desktop is the easy choice.

3. Click here to upload your GetSystemInfo log.

4. Now add the link to the report you have just made in your post.

It says removing drivers and installer hangs.

I did download this getsysteminfo, ran for nearly an hour and nothing happened. Just "Creating Report ..." Is this normal? It just runs and does nothing.

Tried all that. On XP it is still no go. It just runs and nothing. On windows 7 (same PC) it worked flawlessly but I don't know if it will be of any use because I'm having these problems on win XP. Anyway report is here http://www.getsysteminfo.com/read.php?file...6b64a7fa83462d4

I remember pretty similar problem about a year ago on a different machine. Installed windows vista, then installed kaspersky, then shortly after windows start mouse would stop working. So I just removed kaspersky, mouse came back alive and I forgot about it.

In this case the problem is with this kavremover because it can't remove kaspersky without crashing mouse...

You do not have enough ram to do anything. 526 MB ram is not enough for XP, let alone Windows 7 Enterprise. Add two more GB ram.

Also, please clear the contents of your Temp folder, instructions: http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208279128

After you add the ram, try the Kaspersky removal tool:

Make sure you have your Activation Code handy first, then (if applicable: right click the K icon and select Exit, then uninstall Kaspersky> reboot), then run the removal tool

in Safe mode (tap F-8 key when booting up to get to Safe mode) http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208279463 Select what specific product is shown. When the tool completes, don't reboot.

Instead, run the removal tool again. Select All known products this time, if a specific product is not shown. Reboot after running the tool the second time.

After that, please run the gsi utility again, to create a new gsi report, and then please post the link to the new gsi report.

It is not related to amount of ram. I'll try to explain it again. I cannot uninstall it because uninstaller hangs. Someone else has exactly this problem http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=181966 Task mananger shows process DrvInstaller.exe using 100% cpu and no progress. And kavremover messes up mouse drivers or something.

The uninstaller hangs because you have decided to install almost zero ram.

.. when more than half of ram is free. You can also say uninstaller hangs because monitor is too bright. Anyway, thanks for the link.

Talk about beating around the bush for a fix to the problem...

This is happening to me as well, the uninstaller hung at removing drivers so I had to forcefully kill the uninstall. Same issue. Ran Kaspersky Removal tool, which killed my mouse. I'll tell you one thing, I have 8GB of memory on this system. If you want a report for my issue, advise me how to run this GSI tool because it doesn't run on my system - period (not even in safe mode). I've had two open tickets with Kaspersky at level 3 for a couple of months now about this and had minimal response to the issues.
