Uninstalling Kaspersky password removal tool

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

No matter whatever options I try (kavremover.exe, reinstall and uninstall module from "modify" - steps given for removal in this forum), I cannot uninstall password recovery tool. I had installed kaspersky pure 2 days back on trial license, and later decided to uninstall the product completely. After successful uninstall and during reboot of windows 7 (ultimate edition) when I enter intentionally wrong passwork at login screen, I get the hint and below it link to reset password. on clicking that link this password recovery tools opens up. It annoys me as I have totally removed kaspersky from my system. I tried various other ways - deleting all the legacy keys from registry corresponding to kaspersky driver but no use.

are there any other methods to remove it, please tell me.

someone pls help me, thanks and regards.

If i am missing some details please point out so I can supply it.

PS: current status of my win 7 : kaspersky pure completely uninstalled, but password reset manager still exists, not seen in add-remove programs or anywhere but still it exists.

Welcome. Game Plan: run the removal tool in Safe mode, several times in succession, without reboots in between runs, each time selecting a different product, if the option is shown for

different products, then finally running it again selecting All known products, and then finally rebooting after the successive runs of the tool.

Make sure you have your Activation Code handy first, then (if applicable: right click the K icon and select Exit, then uninstall Kaspersky> reboot), then run the removal tool

in Safe mode (tap F-8 key when booting up to get to Safe mode). Select what specific product is shown. When the tool completes, don't reboot.

Instead, run the removal tool again. Select All known products this time, if a specific product is not shown. Reboot after running the tool the second time.

Hi Richbuff, thanks for your advice, I have tried it now. I ran kavremover in safe mode for both OS 6 times each, I have win 7 ultimate(64) and win 7 home basic(32) installed in same system (different drives), even though i installed kaspersky pure only in ultimate, the password reset manager shows up for both OS, but after following the steps given, this tool shows up only during system start if wrong password is entered, does not if i lock system and then enter wrong password. hence i guess it is installed into one-key-recovery app (of lenovo) i am computer-noob so i dont know how to uninstall from there, also there is no system restore point in either of OS. so i think i will uninstall and reinstall entire windows this time :b_lol1: .

I guess my mistake was i should have tried kaspersky pure(i am very new to kaspersky pure) in one of the vmware-windows OS first :icon20: . Kaspersky pure is very buggy  is how i feel compared to KIS. I think KIS is much better even if features are less.
