Kaspersky KryptoStorage: Critical Fix 2 (build 1.0.268)

On June, 17th 2010 Kaspersky Lab announces Critical Fix 2 for Kaspersky KryptoStorage. The full version number is


Kaspersky KryptoStorage is a system for the cryptographic protection of confidential data stored on PC from unauthorized access.


Transparent encryption is used to encrypt information. Data is encrypted with the AES algorithm. To access the protected information, the password authorization is used.


The following defects are fixed:


* Possible incorrect input of password when you use a non-QWERTY keyboard to type the password to start up a computer, whose boot / system volume is protected.

* Incorrect display of the statuses of the user licenses.

The following changes are made:


* When starting up a computer, whose boot / system volume is protected, you can use virtual keyboard and/or have your password displayed on the screen.

* All non-trial licenses have no expiry date.

* German and French localizations are available.


In order to install Critical Fix 2, perform the following actions:


1. download Kaspersky KryptoStorage version 1.0.268 from the Kaspersky Lab web site: http://www.kaspersky.com/kks-latest-versions

2. run the downloaded file

3. install the version 1.0.268 "on top" of your current version of Kaspersky KryptoStorage by clicking the Renew button

4. restart your computer.


When the application is updated, the existing activated licenses remain valid.
