I have tested the Personal.

 It runs very much smoother than the 5.0.522.

cpu is often at 100% but I am able to browse the web and i can open programs while doing fullscan.

The exclusionlist, the way to add exclusions is still a little buggy.

Seemed smooth here, till it scanned a couple of Opera files, while the browser was open, caused it to freeze, and send a report to Microsoft. Otherwise ok

EDIT: Personal here

Hi guys, :) you may edit your postings - saying which version you have tested (Personal or Personal Pro)

kav personal 5.0.523

1. yes, i believe i can also confirm that the freeze problem during an on-demand scan seems to be fixed :)

2. few users have reported that they also see freezes when they do an update and i believe i can confirm this. i did an manual update (press the "update now" in the protection tab), the update window showed and then the system froze for about a minute or maybe even two, after that the update continued normally. the strange thing about it is that i was able to reproduce this few times (2 or 3), but now i am not able to reproduce it anymore

3. the exclusion problem also still has to be fixed

Hi there, still had the same problem as in 522,

"Upon restarting my PC, CPU utilisation went to around 100%, and the KAV systray icon remained grey. I left it for a while but nothing happened. I had to uninstall it from safemode, and then re-install 5.0.388."

I sent the tracelogs to kaspersky support, but received a strange email reply:

"Error processing request:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Kaspersky Lab Technical Support!

Please submit required information in the following web-form: http://www.kaspersky.com/helpdesk.html and your request will be automatically registered and immediately delivered to our support specialists." etc

KAV have now fixed this, at least for me, by giving me a replacement DLL, as a result of my tracelogs and some further testing between us.

Thanks for a quick fix Kaspersky :)

Yes, it is, just use the links in the first post in this thead, then uninstall with a reboot and run this tool:KAV_Registry_Clean.zip.

Then install the full version of 5.0.524 and see how it works for you. :)

The setup_update.exe is for updating an already installed version, the setup.exe is used when you uninstall the old version first, then reboot and install, this is my preferred option, but both should work fine under normall circumstances.

loosecannon,

setup.exe is the full KAV installer, including databases. It is to be used after the resident AV is uninstalled, preferably in Safe Mode and with a reboot before and after installation.

setup_update.exe is the installer to update KAV to the latest/greatest version. It is to be used to update/upgrade only the necessary files. To use it, close/kill kav.exe and kavsvc.exe, run it and reboot.

Ron :)
