  1. This is the case on TWO NT 4.0 computers, both of which were running Symantec Norton AV 2002. I did the official uninstall and searched the registry for any keys, but certainly could have missed something. Both computers fail to initiate the AV, but it runs fine after manual start. Both PC's are set properly per the device services, so any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Robert Jacobs
  2. Running 5.0 personal, the free trial version, on NT 4.0 w/SP6a (fully updated). Computer halts on boot for about one minute, sends "at least one service failed . . . " message. No KAV icon or running processes, except on task manager, the process shown is for "kav" and a 42k" file in process window. Event Viewer says "Service Control Manager Error" the first one (on boot) reports: "Timeout (120000 miliseconds) waiting for service to connect". The next Event Viewer Error log says "The kavsvc service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely manner." After the delayed boot-up, the system then runs fine, but KAV is not running and has to be started manually. KAV is set to start on boot, which it is trying to do, and for real time protection. Services in Control Panel says kavsvc is set to start automatically. I would like to install this product on my legacy NT4.0 machines, but need to have it start on boot.
