  1. greetings: for the last several months, my hd has been losing free space to the point where eventually i see an "out of space" popup notice.. since it is a new disk and has about 60% available space on the c: partition, i couldn't imagine how i'd used that much in only a few months.. then i found the cause. seems that c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CheckPoint\ZoneAlarm\Logs is getting huge files dropped into it on a *daily* basis.. the files are all the exact same size and have names like: KAVE_1426.LOG ( 4,194,305 KB) - 5/30/2015 - 10:09PM KAVE_2612.LOG ( 4,194,305 KB) - 5/31/2015 - 10:22AM KAVE_3528.LOG ( 4,194,305 KB) - 5/30/2015 - 01:05AM i am able to delete any of them except the most current (6/01/2015) one. since i know that zonealarm uses kaspersky av, i'm wondering if KLabs has changed something in their update software because i've never had any problem like this in the previous versions of ZAP+AV ? got any suggestions or explanations ? ~dg~ fyi: ZoneAlarm with Antivirus version: 13.1.211.000 ZoneAlarm license key: xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxx Vsmon version: 13.1.211.0 Driver version: 13.1.211.0 Antivirus engine version: 8.3.4.4 Antivirus signature DAT file version: 1186946304
  2. i've already fixed the error 1406 as mentioned earlier. yes, zonealarm does use KL av in their firewall+av bundle. i'm going to continue on my own - unless you have a better solution - using the getinfoparser. is there any way to make my previous post with the system info "hidden - password protected" ? //edit: Done! thanks for your time, ~dg~ :cb_punk: ps. XP is not dead; just ask the millions of us worldwide who refuse to spend more and more on pre-obsolete versions just so micro$oft can increase their quarterly results.. LONG LIVE XP ! ! ! :laugh3:
  3. hi, i've spent over an hour trying to get this Quick Scan product to install on an XP machine.. the problem started when i noticed there were 3 DISABLED (yellow exclamation points on icon) items under network adapters in the system / device manager labled: Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS Miniport ; WAN Miniport (IP) - Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS Miniport ; and WAN Miniport (Network Monitor ) Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS Miniport **. lately, i've been having problems with ZoneAlarm (v120-104-000) Firewall+AV wherein the AV just shuts off and my pc is " at risk " and the solution is to remove ZA and then reinstall it, leaving all settings at default.. this is getting old (3rd time), and i wanted an objective scanning service to find anything else that might be causing this.. that's when i started trying to get KL Quick Scan to install. ok, i've tried many of the suggestions posted here including the "error 1406" which i had earlier.. now i can get past the 1406, but after that another msg box pops up and says "...Installation Interrupted.." and the screen simply goes back to where i was prior to setup - there DO NOT seem to be any files in \Program Files, or Documents and Settings\[username]\... ; etc. i'd like to try this and even move to the KL firewall / av products but can't exactly say this is a great way to start. can you help me ? ~DG~ **these cannot be removed / uninstalled with a message saying that they are needed for system startup.
