  1. Thank you richbuff, I will do that and hope there is no issue. Having to fall back on Win Defender until Kasper issue get resolved is like living a nightmare. Of course I haven't had to do that but a few times in the 13 years of Kaspersky. You along with the rest here have been very helpful friends. Thank you again, Frank
  2. Hi all again. I tried to activate my existing copy of Kaspersky v18 with my new subsciption and I get this error in the attached. For the loife of me I can't interpret what they mean by it. I have 4 days left on my current subscription. Could it be that I have to wait until it expires? Can I go to My Kaspersky online and register it with the code? Thanks for any help, Frank
  3. Thank you so much Indio, I will go there and download it. This will be my 13th year with Kaspersky and no issues yet.
  4. Hi all. I want to download and save to my computer the latest version of Total but when I click to download it from Kaspersky it prompts me to download and run the install .exe file. Has Kaspersky eliminated the save to desktop option. I don't really want to install it over my existing version and I don't want to uninstall then connect and download the newest version. Thank you, Frank
  5. OK, FYI, My 11.44Mb update from yesterday 8 May seems to have included the fix. My safe money is working fine after boot this morning, of which I was thinking it would. Thank you Eugene and your team and all of the great members here for the quick repair and support. Kaspersky Rules!
  6. This is odd because usually a patch would require a reboot. I'm just going to leave it as is in hopes Kaspersky will resolve this.
  7. Was this the large update of over 22 Mb and did Kaspersky notify to reboot your computer? I never got a reboot notification if it was and usually an update that size is followed by an update. I also get the screenshot notification in safe money.
  8. I'll do that richbuff. In all my searching I never found an 8 to 8.1 link. You are a life saver to us non techs. Thank you so much for your help, Frank
  9. Thank you Richbuff. So I can leave it installed until the download is complete then uninstall before running the setup? This is one of the gray areas I speak of. I don't even know if Microsoft allows me to install at my discretion after download or if it goes straight to the install step after downloading. Plus I don't know if I need to be internet connected during setup. Every since I have had this Windows 8 it's been a mystery to me compared to my old XP. I've been leaving it connected during restart after updates because I don't know if it needs it or not. I think I'm slipping out of my Armchair Geek chair. :-(
  10. So in other words uninstall Kaspersky, download, install 8.1, run Widows update without the Kaspersky protection then reinstall Kaspersky? I'm sorry I am so confused about doing the upgrade Richbuff but Microsoft leaves a lot of gray areas. I don't even know if I have to be connected for the setup/install either. I already downloaded the newest version of Kaspersky to a flash drive to have it ready. I'm so addicted to having Kaspersky running all the time while connected it scares me to not have it. I guess Windows Defender will do for the process unless I should disable/uninstall it to? But if that's the way you do it then that's the way it should be done LOL. Thank you.
  11. I hope it's OK to ask this here. The Fan Club seems pretty dormant now. I am finally updating to 8.1 from 8 now that I have enough data to download it (Verizon metered). My concern is that Microsoft instructs to disable my security during the update but doesn't give detail as to when to disable it or if the setup begins automatic once the download is complete. I can't fathom doing a 3 to 4 gig download without my Kaspersky. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

  13. OK, for what it's worth, I do my database updates manually so I ran tonight's update and the file was still loaded. I restarted about an hour later and it didn't load this time. Just thought I'd add this for reference. I knew there was a reason I like to manually update.
  14. Thank you richbuff. I knew you would have the answer. Now all I have to figure out is what 32 bit decided to start running unless it is from some update I'm not aware of. Then it could be from Kaspersky's update from last night. The file didn't show up in processes until last night before I shut down.
  15. Hi all. I've got the vssbridge64.exe (Volume Shadow Copy Service Bridge) running on my machine again and don't really know what the Kaspersky file does. I did a search for it the first time I found it and discovered that it is a legit Kaspersky file but I didn't try to find out what function it actually performs. I found an older thread that Richbuff replied to and it gave me a good laugh. I found out he has a good sense of humor. "It does some kind of techy stuff." :b_lol1: _______________________________ Past thread _______________________________ Does anybody know what this file does? Thanks, Frank
